Above Pirate King - Chapter 109
“Alright, I understand,” Holt’s gentle voice sounded in the office of the St. Martin Marine Branch.
Gion hung up the phone, sat in the chair, and furrowed her brows slightly. She didn’t expect to receive such a task on her first day here.
“Knock, knock!”
At that moment, the office door rang.
“Come in!”
“Commodore Gion, here are the documents you requested!” Holt smiled and handed over a neatly organized file to Gion.
“Thank you!” Gion took the documents and expressed her gratitude.
“No need to be polite. It’s my duty!” Holt said with a smile. “If there’s nothing else, I’ll take my leave.”
“Alright!” Gion nodded with a smile.
Holt turned to leave.
But then, Gion seemed to remember something and quickly stopped Holt. “By the way, Colonel Holt!”
“Hmm?” Holt stopped in his tracks, turned around, and looked at Gion with some confusion.
“Colonel Holt, I heard that the most prosperous place around here is Blood Port Town, right?” Gion asked pensively.
“Well, yes, Blood Port Town can even be considered one of the most prosperous places in the entire West Sea. Traders come and go there every day, and you can buy things from all over the West Sea. Moreover…” Holt was first taken aback, not expecting Gion to ask such a question.
However, he soon started talking incessantly as if there were endless things to say. After a while, he finally stopped speaking and looked at Gion somewhat sheepishly.
It seemed like he had said too much!
But Gion didn’t mind. Instead, she smiled slightly. “It seems Colonel Holt is quite familiar with the place.”
Holt contemplated for a moment and said, “Not only me, almost everyone in our base is familiar with it!”
“Oh?” Gion looked at Holt with some confusion.
“Our base is newly established, and there aren’t many small towns nearby. Besides the Marines, there are no other people on the island. So whenever there’s a holiday, the soldiers in the base would go to Blood Port Town together!”
“Because Blood Port Town is the most prosperous place nearby, the soldiers like to go there. And when we go there to have fun, the people of the St. Martin Kingdom often give us discounts and other benefits!” Holt explained.
“It sounds like a nice place!” Gion smiled.
“Yes, Commodore, would you like to go?” Holt had an idea and didn’t wait for Gion’s answer. He continued with a smile, “Today, the musician Bruce is having a concert in the St. Martin Kingdom, and he gave me two tickets. Originally, I couldn’t go today, but if you want to go, we can go together!”
Gion didn’t refuse Holt’s kind offer and agreed with a smile. “That sounds good! Then I’ll trouble you. Please prepare the ship, and let’s go together!”
“Yes, Commodore Gion!” Holt respectfully nodded and then turned to leave.
Watching Holt’s departing figure, Gion squinted her eyes slightly, and a faint smile appeared on her lips as she murmured, “Interesting!”
Before long, the door was knocked again.
“Knock, knock, knock!”
“Come in!”
“Commodore Gion, the ship is ready!” Holt respectfully said.
“Good, let’s go!”
Gion put down the documents in her hand, stood up, and followed Holt out of the office.
Just as they left the office, they heard the sound of soldiers drilling.
“Tap, tap, tap!”
“One, two, one, two!”
“Attention, at ease!”
…
Seeing the soldiers training, Gion couldn’t help but admit that the soldiers in this Marine branch were well-trained, not much different from the soldiers in headquarters.
But…
“Look, it’s the new Commodore!”
“So beautiful!”
“Yeah, if I could marry her in this lifetime, it would be worth it!”
“Hehe, better not sleep during the day!”
“What do you mean?”
“I mean, don’t daydream during the day. How could such a beautiful Commodore marry you?”
…
As Gion walked past, the soldiers on the training ground couldn’t help but turn their gazes towards her, excitement in their eyes as they whispered among themselves.
“Heh, men!”
Gion smiled gently on the surface but felt disdain in her heart. Whether it was in headquarters or the branch, men were all the same.
Soon, Gion boarded the ship with Holt.
The ship slowly set sail towards Blood Port Town.
Along the way, Gion observed the surrounding scenery.
On the sea, the number of ships gradually increased as they sailed towards Blood Port Town. Now, within Gion’s line of sight, she could see six or seven ships heading towards the town.
Even before reaching Blood Port Town, the bustling atmosphere could be felt just by watching the ships coming and going on the sea.
At that moment, a pirate ship appeared in Gion’s view, and instinctively, she wanted to go forward and take down the pirate ship.
Holt reached out and stopped Gion.
“Hmm?” Gion looked at Holt with confusion.
“Commodore Gion, you’ll understand in a moment!” Holt said with a smile.
Although still puzzled, Gion didn’t make any further moves.
The next moment, a smoke-emitting warship appeared in the distance. Judging by its size alone, it was much larger than the Marine’s warships.
“Boom, boom, boom!”
The warship quickly approached the pirate ship, and after a barrage of gunfire, the pirate ship sank and drifted away, the whole process taking less than three minutes.
“What’s this?” Gion looked at Holt with confusion.
“Oh, this is the waters of the St. Martin Kingdom. That ship is a warship of the St. Martin Kingdom’s Navy. The navy of the St. Martin Kingdom patrols their waters every day, and once they spot a pirate ship, they immediately sink it!”
“Because their navy is powerful, their warships are formidable, so the waters of the St. Martin Kingdom are gradually being seen as a forbidden area for pirates. There’s even a saying that it’s the safest waters in the West Sea!”
“That pirate ship just now should be from a newly formed pirate crew. Experienced and well-informed pirates won’t come near this place. Although there are constant merchant ships here every day, few people dare to target this area!” Holt explained with a smile.
Afterward, Holt somewhat sheepishly added, “And, to be honest, thanks to them, our branch rarely encounters pirates or the like around here. During normal times, we mostly focus on training at the base and at most patrol the surrounding waters!”
Gion nodded slightly without saying anything.
Soon, the ship arrived at Blood Port Town.
At this moment, Blood Port Town had undergone significant changes. Looking at it, the harbor was filled with ships, large and small, covering the entire coastline of Blood Port Town.
Inside the harbor, one could clearly see people bustling about like ants.
Once the ship docked, Holt led Gion off the ship.
As soon as they disembarked…
“Colonel Holt, long time no see!” A soldier stationed in Blood Port Town greeted them and exchanged pleasantries.
“Yes!” Holt nodded, smiling, and returned the greeting.
“Yeah, Colonel Holt, who is this beautiful lady?” the soldier asked, looking at Gion with curiosity.
“Hello, I’m the new Marine Commodore, Gion!” Gion introduced herself with a smile.
“Hello, hello!” The soldier quickly greeted respectfully.
“No need to be formal!” Gion said gently.
“Alright, Holt, you still have duty to attend to. Go ahead and be busy!” Holt waved his hand.
“Okay, when I’m off duty later, let’s have a drink. If you need anything in the meantime, call me!” The soldier said warmly.
“Sure, sounds good,” Holt nodded.
After the soldier left, Holt took the lead and walked into the town, while Gion followed behind, deep in thought about Holt!
