Above Pirate King - Chapter 159
The Grand Line.
The weather here changed dramatically; one moment it was sunny, the next moment, it was snowing heavily.
Accompanied by the sudden drop in temperature, Arthur and his group arrived in the waters near Drum Kingdom and headed towards the kingdom.
The reason for their visit was simple: Arthur wanted to buy some local products, specifically doctors, while en route to the Levely.
In the yacht’s hall…
“Purupurupurupuru!”
The Den Den Mushi next to Arthur, who was sitting on the sofa, rang. He casually picked up the Den Den Mushi.
“Hello!”
“It’s Your Majesty!” On the other end was Shion.
“What’s the matter?” Arthur asked.
“This is what happened…” Shion explained in detail what had happened in the past few days.
“Alright, I got it! Let me think about it, and I’ll call you back later!” Arthur said in a deep voice.
“Understood!” Shion replied respectfully.
“Spy, Hugmore, Spandine, CP, Nico…” Arthur muttered, lost in thought.
The spy was caught, as he had expected. The spy was sent by Spandam, as he had expected too!
Now that the spy had been caught, the main issue was not who the spy belonged to but how to handle it to maximize the benefits.
Should he kill them all?
No, that wouldn’t work. While it might be satisfying, it wouldn’t serve any purpose. CP wasn’t just a small group; even if they were killed, they would still send others to infiltrate.
Moreover, this time, they were lucky to have discovered the spy. But Arthur couldn’t guarantee that their luck would be good every time. What if they didn’t discover the spy next time?
It’s easy to be a thief, but it’s hard to guard against one!
So Arthur abandoned this option.
Should he expose them publicly?
No!
Even if the evidence was irrefutable, it wouldn’t work!
Although doing so would make the world’s member countries have a negative perception of the World Government, causing widespread panic, the World Government wouldn’t admit to such a thing.
They would only secretly swallow this loss, then vehemently deny it, while finding out some “details” about the undercover agents and framing a few enemies of St. Martin. With their 800 years of foundation and immense power, who would dare to doubt them?
Arthur could already guess what would happen next.
The World Government would quiet down for a while and stop sending spies to St. Martin. After some time had passed, the storm caused by this incident would die down. And then, St. Martin would face a storm of revenge from the World Government behind the scenes!
Although Arthur wasn’t afraid, the kingdom was currently in a development phase. If they were to clash with the World Government now, it would deal a significant blow to the kingdom’s development, which didn’t align with Arthur’s ideas and character.
In Arthur’s view, building high walls and accumulating food to slowly become a king was the right path.
“I must come up with a solution to resolve future troubles!” Arthur frowned, lost in deep thought.
Just then, Brian happened to walk past the hall.
“Brian, perfect timing. Come here for a moment!” Arthur’s eyes lit up as he called out to him, as two minds are better than one, and he wanted to ask Brian for his opinion.
“Your Majesty!” Brian walked over and respectfully saluted.
“Alright, have a seat first!” Arthur waved his hand, signaling him to sit down.
“Yes!” Brian nodded and sat down.
“Here’s the situation.” Arthur explained the situation in detail and asked, “What do you think is the best way to handle it?”
“Hmm…” Brian pondered for a moment and seriously said, “Spandine!”
“Spandine?” Arthur was a little puzzled. His impresion of Spandine was limited to the incident with the Ohara Buster Call and Spandam’s son twenty years later—a cunning, malicious, greedy, hypocritical, twisted, and perverted Spandam!
“When I went to the World Government last time, I saw Spandine from a distance. Out of curiosity, I inquired with my ‘friends.’ They all agreed that he was a useless flatterer!”
“But later, I thought about it carefully and realized that this person isn’t simple!”
Brian paused for a moment and analyzed seriously. “If one person says that about him, it might be prejudice. But if everyone says the same, there are only two possibilities. Either he is indeed as they say, or he deliberately hides his true self to make others think that way.”
“I personally lean towards the second option. The reason is simple: he is the leader of CP9! You know, CP is a secret organization directly under the World Government, with the same level as the Navy. Therefore, the leader of CP9 holds a significant position within the World Government.”
“In an organization like the World Government, which has been established for eight hundred years, I don’t believe there are no dirty tricks or internal struggles. But even amidst all the intrigue, as an ordinary person without any combat power, how could he climb to the position of CP9’s leader if he were truly useless and a flatterer?”
“It can only mean that this person is definitely not what others perceive him to be; he is a clever individual hiding very well. So, that’s where we can start.”
Hearing Brian’s analysis, Arthur’s image of the arrogant and overbearing Spandine was completely overturned, replaced by that of a clever person who hid his true nature under a facade.
“A clever person is indeed a valuable asset!” Arthur murmured, a slight smile forming at the corner of his mouth.
With Brian’s insight, he had already come up with a solution to handle the situation!
“I’m called Mary—oh, no, now I’m called Cariva!”
“I’m a little confused right now!”
“As a failed spy, the first thing that came to my mind when I was caught was what kind of experiences I would go through.”
“Binding, whips, heated iron?”
“All sorts of painful punishments flashed through my mind, causing me to be terrified!”
“But unexpectedly, I was released?”
“Apart from being beaten when I was caught, I haven’t suffered any harm since then!”
“Moreover, the other party even gave me a ship, and there’s no shortage of food on the ship. Apart from the two corpses on the ship, everything is fine.”
————————-
At the harbor in the town.
In front of a small boat about ten meters long.
“You take these things with you, and when you go back, hand them over to your superiors!” Aphrodite said coldly, taking out a piece of paper and a seashell from his pocket and stuffing them into Cariva’s hand.
Cariva could only carefully accept them.
“Alright, get on the ship!” Aphrodite directly lifted Cariva by the neck and threw her onto the deck.
“Bang!”
Cariva was thrown onto the deck.
“Engh!”
She then let out a painful grunt, clearly hurt from the fall!
But Aphrodite didn’t pay any attention; after all, Cariva was an enemy.
If it weren’t for the fact that they still needed Cariva to take the bodies and items back, she would have been killed already!
“Boom!”
Aphrodite kicked the boat harshly, and instantly, the ship shot out of the harbor like an arrow at an incredibly fast speed!
On the ship.
Cariva recovered after a while, and when the pain subsided a little, she gritted her teeth and stood up, walking to the stern. She deeply gazed at St. Martin Island, engraving the place in her heart.
Then, she picked up the Den Den Mushi that St. Martin had prepared for her on the ship and made a call.
“Purupurupurupuru!”
“Who’s this?” The voice on the other end sounded impatient.
“Reporting, sir, this is Cariva!” Although the voice on the other end was impatient, Cariva dared not say anything and could only speak respectfully.
“Who?” Spandine sounded even more puzzled.
Strictly speaking, Cariva was just a trainee at the training camp, and Spandine couldn’t remember such a little person!
“Sir, here’s what happened.” Cariva had no choice but to recount everything from start to finish.
There was silence on the other end for a long time, followed by the sound of things being thrown around.
“I will send someone to pick you up!” Spandine said, suppressing his anger.
