Above Pirate King - Chapter 91
After the five sky island teenagers left…
“Get up!” Aiolia stepped forward and helped the boy on the ground, patting the dust off his body.
“Thank you!” The boy muttered softly, his voice barely audible, as if it were a mosquito’s buzz. If it weren’t for Aiolia’s keen ears, he might not have heard it.
“It’s okay!” Aiolia smiled and asked, “What’s your name?”
In fact, when Aiolia first saw this boy, he already knew who he was. After all, his ears were so big and distinctive, it was obvious at a glance!
“Enel!” Enel said with his head lowered.
“Why were they beating you?” Truman asked, puzzled.
Immediately, Enel fell silent, not saying a word.
Truman was about to ask again when Aiolia shook his head slightly at him.
At that moment, Truman swallowed the words he was about to ask.
“Growl…”
Just then, Enel’s stomach growled.
Instantly, his face turned red.
If it were in front of other Skypieans, even if his stomach growled, he wouldn’t blush. But in front of Aiolia and Truman, the two people who had just helped him, he couldn’t help but blush.
Aiolia chuckled and took out an apple from his pocket, filled with the aroma of alcohol, and handed it to Enel. “Here!”
This apple was intentionally brought by Aiolia from the ship. Although they had bought a lot of things and food in the past few days, they were all kept on the boat. They had specifically taken an apple today because they were going to find Enel.
But apples like this were not sold in ordinary Skypiea. Aiolia had brought this apple all the way from Angel Island, and it had been in the jar in the cabin for over a month.
Because there was alcohol underneath the jar, it could be stored for a relatively long time. After a month, there hadn’t been any changes.
Enel looked at the fruit he had never seen before and wanted to refuse, but the hunger in his stomach made him involuntarily accept the apple and whispered, “Thank you!”
“Crunch!”
Enel took a bite, savoring the crisp texture and sweet taste of the apple, instantly captivated by it.
Perhaps it was too delicious, or perhaps he was too hungry, but after just a few bites, Enel swallowed the whole apple, not even leaving the core.
After finishing it, Enel realized that his eating manners might not have looked good, so his cheeks turned red, feeling a bit embarrassed.
“Growl…”
At this moment, Truman’s stomach also growled.
“Ah… Haha!” Truman laughed awkwardly and said, “I didn’t eat much for breakfast, and I happen to be hungry. How about I treat you? Let’s go to Birka and have a meal!”
Well, Truman definitely wouldn’t admit that he was hungry from watching Enel eat!
Upon hearing this, Enel’s expression changed drastically, as if Birka was a terrifying place to him.
Aiolia, seeing Enel’s expression, instantly guessed the reason. It was probably due to the various discrimination Enel faced as an outsider among the Skypieans.
“No need, it’s raining now. Where do you live, Enel? Let’s go to your place and have a meal there!” Aiolia suggested.
“Uh…” Upon hearing this, Enel’s body stiffened, hesitating for a moment, but eventually nodded and agreed, “Okay!”
Guided by Enel, the two of them walked along the edge of the forest.
Soon, they arrived at a dilapidated temple.
“Creak!”
The temple had two broken wooden doors, in a shabby state, barely hanging on, making a sharp noise when pushed lightly.
The three of them entered the temple.
The temple looked rundown from the outside, but it was decent inside.
At least there were no leaking areas.
In the middle of the temple stood a five-meter-tall stone statue of a Skypiean, with a large circular ring behind it. The ring had four jade-decorated drums, holding a staff, bearing a striking resemblance to the future Enel.
Next to the temple, there were some firewood and a few worn-out clothes and blankets, with some fruits placed in the corner.
Truman and Aiolia looked around but didn’t say anything.
On the contrary, Enel, as the host, felt a bit uneasy!
“Come on, let’s start a fire and have a barbecue!” Truman noticed his uneasiness and quickly called out to Enel.
Soon, the three of them started a fire and began grilling.
Their target for the barbecue was a wild beast resembling an eight-meter-long wild boar. Aiolia and Truman didn’t know its name.
Enel didn’t know its name either, but he had eaten it before and licked his lips with a hint of nostalgia.
Aiolia and Truman listened to Enel’s suggestion and decided to barbecue the wild boar right away!
But then, a new problem arose: they had no seasoning!
Luckily, Enel had some salt.
They sprinkled some salt on it.
Surprisingly, the meat of the wild boar itself was quite delicious, and adding a bit of salt made it even tastier.
Aiolia and Truman had hearty appetites and began eating.
Enel, on the other hand, had an exaggerated way of eating. He buried his whole head in the meat and started devouring it.
Soon, Aiolia and Truman were full.
But in front of them, Enel was still devouring the meat with large mouthfuls. His astonishing appetite was completely disproportionate to his skinny body.
After a while, the whole beast had been eaten by him, leaving only a skeleton with no trace of meat!
He touched his mouth with a sense of satisfaction!
Only then did he realize that Aiolia and Truman were looking at him with astonishment.
Feeling a bit embarrassed, Enel scratched his head and said, “Did I eat too much?”
Aiolia smiled and said, “It’s okay. Are you still hungry? Want to grill some more?”
“No need, I’m full!” Enel shook his head vigorously, like a drum.
Afterward, Aiolia and Truman brought their belongings from the ship and stayed in Enel’s rundown temple.
Enel welcomed them with great joy.
Perhaps because both of their names had “L” in them, Aiolia felt a strong connection with Enel.
Although there was only a slight age difference between them, Aiolia took care of Enel like a father.
For the first time in over a decade, Enel felt warmth. He truly enjoyed this newfound warmth.
In the following days, apart from hunting and barbecuing every day, upon Aiolia’s special request, Enel led them to explore the entire forest.
“Aiolia, over there is a cloud river with a delicious white fish!”
“Truman, there’s a tree hole over there where a cloud fox lives. It often leaves tree fruits in the hole, and I often go and take them to eat!”
“Aiolia, on that tree, there are cloud fruits. They are soft and sweet, so delicious!”
…
Enel was very familiar with the forest, to the extent that it was heartbreaking. He remembered the locations where all the food grew, the habitats and habits of powerful beasts, and how to avoid them.
Aiolia could tell how much effort Enel had put in to survive here!
After spending a few days together, although they hadn’t found what they were looking for, Enel completely opened his heart to Aiolia and Truman, telling them his story.
In short, his parents died early, his aunt adopted him, he suffered from bullying, ran away in anger, and eventually settled in the forest.
He was like a version of Harry Potter or Nico Robin in Skypiea!
The only difference was that Harry Potter and Nico Robin had kind people who helped and taught them in their lives, bringing a ray of light into their dark existences!
But Enel didn’t have that. Because he didn’t have wings, the entire Skypiea regarded him as a hybrid, bullying and insulting him.
No one ever thought that he was also a Skypiean. He was treated like an outsider, facing rejection from the whole Skypiea!
His life was filled with darkness!
This might be the main reason why, in the future, after gaining immense power, he would destroy the entire Skypiea!
After spending a few days together, Aiolia genuinely liked Enel from the bottom of his heart. He had already decided to take him away!
With Aiolia by his side, Enel’s life finally had a ray of light!
His future was uncertain, but it would certainly be different from before.
