Arceus in One Piece - Chapter 24
“Uncle Ludo disappeared to distract the Marines, Brother Avanessa died with a group of pirates, and Auntie Emilee died at the hands of those CP’s from the World Government.
What did we do wrong? From the day we were born, we were part of the Lunaria tribe. We did nothing, but ordinary people wanted to trade us for bounties, and the world government wanted to use us for research and to gain more power.
That pirate only lasted less than a quarter of an hour, but Shaina and I have been through that for half a year!”
Ashes told the story of what he had been through, the dissipation of names that represented the loss of loved ones, including his and Shaina’s parents.
The torture from the endurance experiment was excruciating, and the unknown drug flowed from his blood to every corner of his body. Every part of his skin was in excruciating pain. He had forgotten how he held on, and he only had one thought in his mind: he had to survive.
He wanted revenge, and he wanted to find a land where the Lunarians could live freely.
These were the things he had buried in his heart, the stress he was under, the familiar smiles and hateful faces he always saw in his sleep, which was why he looked at Queen with a murderous glare.
He had no love for any of the researchers at the Institute, even if Queen’s project had little to do with them.
The flames behind him were burning, the sides of the ship were cracking under the pressure of his palms, and with the sea breeze, the waves were being carried into the air, unknown trails of water landing at Asuka’s feet and wetting that deck.
He had seen countless betrayals and conspiracies, the horrors of greed, and fought and fled countless battles, all of which together made it easy to overlook one issue: age.
Asuka was only fourteen at the time, and Shaina was a few months older, having spent her fourteenth birthday only a few months earlier, lying on a cold test bed in a walled institute.
They were still only two half-grown children, but they were carrying things they shouldn’t be carrying in advance.
“I’m sorry, Lord Sacred Beast, for letting you listen to so much nonsense. I shouldn’t have complained about it.”
“No matter, it’s not good to have too much on your mind, but Shaina, come here. You’ve been listening there for half a day now.”
Arceus didn’t look back but spoke behind him in a very pure tone. Even after losing most of his tablet, his body’s senses were very sharp.
“No, Lord Beast, I just wanted to call for Ashes to go to dinner.”
“Does that require tears? And Abel, your tears are already running down your face as well.”
“I didn’t cook a lot of curry with the ingredients, and it’s the onions that got spiced up when I cut them.” “That’s seawater, Lord Beast.”
Both of them had their own reasons for denying it, but at fourteen years of age, losing all of their loved ones, how could the memories not be sad?
“Shaina, Abel, listen to me, blood debts must be paid in blood, everything they owe to the Lunaria must be paid back with interest, and I promise you in the name of the god Arceus that you will see the glory of Lunaria burn on the Red Lands again.”
The people served the god, and the god responded. He gave the Lunarians power for his own purposes in the beginning, and the Lunarians protected him to the last man. Even when only Ashes and Shaina were left, they didn’t give up, and that dedication was worth a promise.
The flames behind their backs lit up the deck, and now the Lunaria’s flames were fed with hope, adding a new kindling to the mix.
Arceus had acted as a kind of psychiatrist, helping the two to express their emotions, but it wasn’t over yet, and Asuka’s state of mind didn’t feel right to him.
The shadows of childhood sometimes don’t heal over a lifetime, and they weren’t even shadows anymore; they were the most youthful years of their lives, and they saw the darkness of the world, which could be the cause of their darkness later on.
“Abel, what’s with the look on your face after the torture just now?”
“Beast-sama, I can’t tell you how I felt, but I felt very comfortable after that.”
Psychological Stress Disorder Syndrome, it is obvious that Ashes has left some shadows in his mind after experiencing these things and inflicts the pain he experienced on others, and by torturing him, he can relieve his inner pressure.
This explains why Queen refers to Ashes as a “torturing pervert” in the normal timeline.
Without Arceus’s assistance, Shaina would have died at the Institute, so it’s not surprising that Ashes, having lost all of his people, would have a twisted heart.
Ashes used this behavior as a way to vent his emotions.
“It’s okay to vent, but don’t get caught up in that feeling. You have to control your body, not let it manipulate your consciousness.” This is a miserable world, and Our Lady would not survive here.
In other words, it doesn’t matter how bad the captured enemy ends up, and it maximizes the value of venting the Ashes in this way, as long as he doesn’t develop a tendency to feel bad about himself if he doesn’t torture someone else.
“Go get some rest, tell me anything you want, it’s about time. I’m going to go see how Kaido and the others are doing.”
After experiencing the Ashes tactics, Priort told me what he knew about a bamboo tube.
It was true that John had destroyed the South Sea Naval Branch, and it was also true that he had been to the South Sea, but he had left long ago.
In fact, the naval branch had fallen even earlier than what was reported. It was just that his Fruit ability had put on a stage show and delayed that time.
“I met Captain John in the Chambord Islands, and he valued my power enough to invite me to join his John’s Pirates and gave me this order.
He asked me to pose as him to recruit crew here and attract the attention of the Marines and other pirates while he went in search of the real treasure.”
“Hey, theater asshole, we’re not interested in your experiences with John, we’re asking where the hell John is, you got that?” Queen couldn’t help but get a little impatient as she watched him talk for half a day, but not a single useful sentence.
“Want me to find that pervert kid and come back and talk to you again?”
“No, don’t! By the way, Captain John gave me something. Take that, and you’re sure to find him. It’s in the compartment of my hat, and it’s a little piece of paper!”
Queen tore open his hat and inside was a piece of paper fluttering to the north.
“This is… John’s life card? Brother Kaido, it’ll be a lot easier to find John with this.”
