Arceus in One Piece - Chapter 37
Natho is the name of the kingdom, but this island has another name, just like Alabasta is located on the Saint Island, and this land of the Natho Kingdom is called Donut Island. The specific reason is that when viewed from high altitude, this island looks like a huge donut.
The island is ring-shaped, with a huge inland lake inside, covering more than one-third of the total land area.
The so-called “Great Ebb” does not refer to changes in the sea area outside, but to the inland lake of the kingdom. Every full moon night every three years, the water in the lake mysteriously disappears for three days, revealing the lake bottom.
John and his group stayed here for too long. Besides waiting for this, Furlit couldn’t think of any other reason. But what happened next was not very relevant to him.
He was self-aware of his own strength. Although he was a member of CP9 and proficient in six styles, dealing with those pirates in the first half of the Grand Line was fine. But facing monsters like John with a bounty in the tens of millions, he had no ability to intervene at all. Observing from afar was his limit.
At this point, he had completed the handover of the mission, and two members of CP0 from Mariejois took over his mission.
“This is the base of John and his people. His men come here to purchase supplies every day at two o’clock in the afternoon. You can observe their movements from the top floor of the hotel where I stayed.”
Furlit briefed the two ordinary middle-aged men he was handing over his information to. They looked ordinary and could blend into the crowd and disappear.
Not all CP0 members wear white suits and various masks when on missions. Their main goal is to complete their missions, so they usually have many identities and choose appropriate clothing to accomplish their tasks.
At this point, the rest of the work was irrelevant to him. Regardless of the outcome, Furlit’s mission was completed. A direct mission success would naturally earn him his share of credit.
Unlike Spandam, Spandine was not only good at flattery but also capable himself. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have been successful in various agencies, and he wouldn’t take credit from frontline agents. He knew very well what he shouldn’t touch.
Handing over the lifecard he believed belonged to Purret to the two CP0 members, Furlit intended to leave this place of controversy. John’s life goal of pursuing wealth was well known.
The process of trying to seize this treasure couldn’t possibly be peaceful. Staying on this island wouldn’t be a good thing for him.
He packed up and prepared to leave, but in the process of leaving, he encountered Kaido and his group.
Olgia still wore a purple dress, but it wasn’t the same one as before. That dress held special meaning for her and was now put away. When they passed by a certain island for supplies, she had a tailor make more than a dozen identical dresses. Even the patterns on them were the same, derived from ancient Alchemi script.
To most people, those were just ordinary patterns, but those who knew could tell they were related to Alchemi.
Furlit wasn’t a scholar of ancient languages, and the government didn’t allow people to study such things. Only people from certain specialized departments of the government were allowed to study such scripts.
But the current ban wasn’t too strict yet, and Ohara still existed. Before they touched taboos, nothing would happen there.
But Furlit knew about Alchemi. Every year, new Celestial Dragons would issue orders after learning about the pure gold, sending people to search for it. By now, this had become a good way to embezzle funds.
But fooling those Celestial Dragons still required some effort. Among the Celestial Dragons, there were fools, but not all of them were fools. Everyone had ambitions, and no one would let a bunch of pure waste sit on their heads.
At least, submitting a satisfactory report was necessary. In this process, they gained enough understanding of Alchemi.
A single pattern could be a coincidence, but a whole set of them couldn’t possibly be a coincidence.
Watching Arceus and his group pass by, he took out his Den Den Mushi and found a quiet place.
“Chief Spandine.”
“What’s the matter, Furlit? Have you already made contact with the CP0 people?”
“Yes, Chief Spandine, we have completed the handover of the mission. Is there any other mission?”
At the moment the Den Den Mushi was connected, he hesitated.
Spandine’s success in the World Government was closely related to his network. If he could establish relations with the Celestial Dragons, his future would undoubtedly be much better than it is now. Why should he share this achievement with Spandine?
So he didn’t tell the truth, but instead had the idea of eating alone.
“No, the rest is up to you. Assist them or return early, it’s up to you.”
“Yes, I understand.”
After hanging up the Den Den Mushi, he returned along the same route. There was only one direction on this road, so he wouldn’t lose track of people during this time, and he didn’t attract too much attention among the population flow in the Natho Kingdom.
However, Furlit made a very low-level mistake for a special agent. Due to being attracted by the Alchemi script on Olgia’s body, he didn’t notice the tall man in a cloak next to her was Kaido.
The Central Hotel of Natho Kingdom was a place that consumed a lot of the kingdom’s finances. It was a place where food, lodging, and trade were integrated. It was said that even giants could stay here as long as they had money. No one cared about the identities of the people here, and the only rule was no fighting.
So even Alzhus and Elizabeth, these non-human creatures, were not stopped from entering the hotel’s rooms.
“You two just wait here. We’ll leave here after everything is over. Queen, go to the dock and find a new ship. The characteristic here is that there’s always stock available. By the way, haven’t you sensed your slate?”
Olgia and Ace, these two people, didn’t have the ability to participate in battles of this scale. Although according to Kaido’s understanding, only battle was the fastest way to improve, he wasn’t about to let an apprentice experience life in battles of this level.
Leaving them here was the safest option. Later, Queen would be sent to purchase a ship. Although Alzhus’s plan to fleece with Kaido didn’t succeed, they still gained a lot of funds along the way from their companions.
The Marines’s bounty distribution didn’t have a real-name system. As long as they weren’t wanted, anyone could exchange their bounty.
