Arceus in One Piece - Chapter 44
Chapter 44 More courageous people appeared.
Treasure, stone tablets, coupled with Kaido settling some old scores, this operation could be considered a huge success.
Under the power of water-dripping stone tablets, a passage opened up amidst the surging water, and Kaido enveloped in flames, led everyone away from there.
With his abilities, he could have taken away a large amount of treasure, but a gigantic dragon flying with treasure in the sky would attract too much attention, so he refrained from doing so.
“Is it already dawn? Looks like we’ve spent quite a bit of time here.”
As they returned to the surface, the group looked towards the rising sun, realising that it was already daytime. When they had descended, it was midnight, and now the sun was once again shining in the sky.
“After all, they are pirates from the New World. Our strength is still lacking,” Jin remarked, looking at the scars left on his shoulders, still somewhat dissatisfied. Such strength was insufficient; a mere pirate shouldn’t have been able to inflict such injuries on him.
If that were all, he wouldn’t even be worthy of seeking revenge.
Although his injuries didn’t appear severe, that was due to the combination of his animal abilities, Lunarian heritage, and Pokémon powers, resulting in formidable regenerative abilities and self-healing.
Shayna, on the other hand, was unscathed. Her opponents were weaker, and she hadn’t been harmed at all.
The last two CP0 members they encountered had decent strength, but as soon as they began fighting, Arceus found his stone tablet and used the water currents to deal with them. Those two didn’t have bodies as robust as King Direct’s, and under the dual effects of water currents and lightning, they became part of the treasure cave as well.
“You two have had enough. Yours truly is the one who’s been most severely injured!”
“Huh? But didn’t you injure yourself by accident? You sure know how to be a drag.” This time, it wasn’t Shayna; under Queen’s policy of selling out teammates, Shayna decided to stop teasing him temporarily. But while this tactic worked on Shayna, it didn’t work on Jin, so he once again became the target of betrayal.
“Kaido, Arceus, can you two please consider your own people next time?” Lying on the flame cloud, Queen weakly complained, feeling that this world was somewhat unfriendly to him. Why was he always the one getting electrocuted?
Arceus remained silent; it was Kaido, not him, who had discharged electricity, but Kaido’s train of thought was clearly different from Queen’s.
“Hee hee hee, Queen, you’re still too weak. If you had noticed your own condition and used Haki to block the electric current in advance, you wouldn’t have been affected. After we set sail, I’ll refine you properly, and you can practice with Jin and the others.”
“No need, Kaido.”
Once Kaido decided on something, it wouldn’t be easily changed, so Queen was also pulled into the Haki crash course.
Queen lay on the flame cloud, lifelessly contemplating life as he gazed at the lake.
Due to the opening below causing a large amount of water to flow in, a huge whirlpool formed on the lake’s surface. John’s awakened ability had also destroyed the surrounding terrain, causing seawater to pour in continuously. The water level hadn’t dropped unless a Fish-Man came down here to dig; nobody would discover the secret below, as all those in the know were either on Kaido’s flame cloud or below.
John’s earlier actions had caused minor earthquakes and tsunamis, but the evacuation boats were all tethered to the ground and weren’t affected.
But now, things had changed; the tide wanting to recede would likely be delayed.
And at this moment, Queen seemed to see something; rubbing his eyes, he took out a telescope.
“Hey, hey, look over there. Isn’t that the snake lizard belonging to the little brat?” In Queen’s line of sight, a green lizard was running on the surface of the sea with a hole in its belly, and as it ran, blood kept dripping onto the water’s surface.
It spotted Kaido’s figure in the sky and was continuously roaring towards this direction.
The strangest thing was that ordinarily, Elizabeth would try to stay close to Arceus and Olga, but now she had appeared here injured, which was abnormal.
Jin jumped off the flame cloud and returned with the injured Elizabeth, taking her back to the flame cloud. Although Elizabeth could understand what they were saying, only Arceus could understand what she was saying.
“Yah, yah, yah!”
“You, don’t move recklessly. I haven’t treated a lizard before, but you’ll have to bear with the pain. If this wound doesn’t close, you’ll die.”
Queen was forced to play veterinarian; he had treated wild animals before, but he had never treated a snake lizard, a race that had long been extinct in the outside world.
However, it wasn’t crying out in pain; it was calling for help.
“It says Olga was taken away by someone, and Asie is currently in the hotel with an unknown fate. This happened when the moon hadn’t disappeared yet and the sun was about to rise. It also said it already remembered the scent of that person, so let’s hurry and rescue Olga.”
“A human trafficker? How dare they kidnap people in the central hotel of the Natuho Kingdom? Aren’t they afraid of becoming enemies of the Gray World?”
The Natuho Kingdom allowed various grey transactions but absolutely forbade any behaviour that endangered the safety of guests in the central hotel. This was one of the reasons why it could become a centre of grey transactions.
“Queen, you go back first and treat Asie, then sail to the place we agreed on. Really, just when I was in a good mood, it all goes to waste.”
Kaido’s originally uplifted mouth corners completely drooped down. His subordinates could fail, make mistakes, and have certain personalities that didn’t matter much, but for him, the trainee he had set his eyes on had actually been abducted, which was a huge insult to him.
“Shayna, you go with Queen to rescue Asie as well. Try your best to bring Asie back.” Arceus also instructed Shayna to go, as he remembered the possibility mentioned by Queen. Asie, this top-tier materials scientist, was challenging to find.
Due to the major ebb tide and John’s fruit, seawater from all around was pouring into the central area. Before dawn, it was impossible to sail away from here. Even if the person who took Olga had set sail, they wouldn’t have gotten far.
Kaido wanted to let them know that not everyone could be messed with.
