Arceus in One Piece - Chapter 60
Olgierd also mingled in the battle. Unlike Shayna, she didn’t engage in one-on-one combat with a ship; it was too early for her. She trained alongside the lower-ranking members of the Beast Pirates, practicing with ordinary pirates.
Although she was over a hundred years old, for Asie, the years inside the belly of the Sea Kings were essentially stagnant. Olgierd, at this moment, was still the daughter who hadn’t yet celebrated her 10th birthday.
This wasn’t the life she was supposed to live, but she had to accept it. Since the kidnapping incident, Olgierd seemed to have matured significantly. She realized the importance of power and began to crave it.
However, obtaining power came with a price, and her current experiences were part of that cost.
Asie felt somewhat guilty about this. He believed these were all entirely King’s fault, but without King, and with Olgierd unable to withstand the South Sea Emperor’s heat for over a hundred years, it was also King’s fault.
Ultimately, it was the consequence of the person who leaked the information about King’s gold. Asie wasn’t idle either; he carried a box of cannonballs to a gunner nearby.
Life had become like this, and since he lacked any direct combat ability, he could only find ways to help.
“Use these.”
Asie was at least a cadre of the Beast Pirates, and because he was a scientific talent, Kaido didn’t allow his subordinates to threaten his safety.
He was a top-notch chemist and materials scientist, and during this time outside, he had reacquainted himself with knowledge and accepted the changes in the world over the past century. With Queen’s help, he modified gunpowder based on existing formulas, making the cannonballs more powerful.
However, since it was still in the experimental stage, there were few such cannonballs.
“Wow, Brother Asie, your cannonballs are so powerful.” Watching the explosion range of the cannonballs, the gunner exclaimed sincerely.
“Fire more in that direction.” Pointing towards Olgierd’s direction, Asie gave a few instructions before returning to the cabin. His presence outside was only causing chaos.
Although they were outnumbered, their firepower overwhelmed the opposition, coupled with superior combat capabilities and aerial advantage. The resisting pirates were quickly killed, and most of the remaining ones chose to surrender.
The lower-ranking members of the Beast Pirates played their biggest role by guarding these prisoners.
Some pirates wanted to escape to the meeting place to find their captain. Queen had just chased after them. One of the pirates who fled back happened to bump into Queen.
With enemies on all sides, this pirate alliance, which had just been formed less than a few minutes ago, was on the verge of collapse. However, in the distant sky, the sound of cannonballs gliding could be heard.
A cannonball, much larger than usual, flew towards them.
For strong figures in the pirate world, dealing with cannonballs was easy. Jhin, in his human-beast form, flew through the sky.
The shiny metal wings split the huge cannonball in half, and he caught the halves with his hands, throwing them away to destroy the cannonballs from behind.
In their transformed forms, their hands turned into wings, making it much more convenient than traditional bird-type Devil Fruit users.
“Isn’t that the direction of the pirates’ encampment?”
“Yes, Your Holiness. That’s where the civilians on the island reside.”
“Shayna, go with King and stop their resistance. Be gentle with the civilians; after all, this will be our territory in the future.”
Unlike pirates, civilians were the original inhabitants of the island. They couldn’t just exterminate everyone on the island. Besides, future development would require population, which meant they couldn’t treat them like other pirates.
“Yes, sir. We’ll handle it. King, let’s go!”
A red and gray figure flew in the direction the cannonballs came from and soon disappeared into the sky.
“Alright, let’s see how Kaido is handling things now.” Except for those left to guard, everyone followed Arceus towards Kaido.
“Gable! Who told you to fire?!”
A conflict erupted where the island’s civilians lived. It started because the captain of the guards fired the coastal defense cannon without the village chief’s consent, aiming towards the direction of the pirate stronghold.
“Do you know how hard I’ve worked to get those pirates to drop their attacks here?! Even if you don’t care about that, don’t you care about the safety of little Gable and your mother?!”
A bearded man was pushed aside, and the village chief stood in front of the cannon barrel, his tone filled with anger and helplessness.
“This is an opportunity. Those pirates are engaged in a big conflict. As long as we can take advantage and eliminate them, then we’ll be free! Our food is only enough for one more day; we can’t save anymore. Look at what we’ve been eating these days!”
Gable pointed to the food in a pot nearby. It was like boiled potatoes, and there was more water in it. They had been barely getting by with such thin soup these days.
“Gable, those are pirates.”
“I know, but we have weapons too. Why don’t we stand up and resist them?! They’re not like John, strong as he was. They’ll be afraid of cannons. We have the ability to resist.”
The goal of civilians was just to survive. Even if there were still a way to survive, most people would choose to submit, which was why this island had belonged to John before.
But now, the struggles of these pirates were almost forcing them to their deaths.
Then he pointed to a few people standing behind him, those who agreed with his idea and participated in the shelling.
“They’re still fighting; now, we still have the strength to resist. If they don’t end it in a few more days, foreign merchant ships won’t come near here. Are we going to starve to death here?!”
“While they’re still fighting, we have the element of surprise. As long as we take them out, this fight will end.”
“Gable, you’re too young. Those are pirates. They’re only compromising with us because they don’t want to be attacked. If you do this, you’ll force them onto one front. Once they settle their disputes, they’ll deal with us first. What will you do then?”
“In that case, hand me over to calm their anger. But now is our chance to resist. We can’t rely on pirates. If something like that really happens, Chief, remember to take care of little Gable and my mother. Anyone willing to resist, pick up your guns and follow me!”
Then Gable noticed that these people’s gaze seemed off as if they were looking at the sky. When he turned around, he saw Shayna and King flying in the sky.
“It was you who fired just now, right? This island is already the territory of the Beast Pirates. We can overlook the shelling. Now, drop your weapons and stop resisting.”
