Be the Main God from Naruto - Chapter 32
Sakura pinched Naruto.
“Ow! Ow! Ow! Sakura-chan, what are you doing?!”
Tears were almost streaming from Naruto’s eyes.
In the virtual world of “Shadow Break the Sky,” he didn’t have a strong physical body; in reality, his character was just a popular second-generation strongman.
“Can pain even be simulated…?”
Sakura ignored him, taking a deep breath instead.
The fresh air, filled with the fragrance of grass and trees, entered her lungs, making her feel extremely comfortable.
If it weren’t for Wang Yan’s help in breaking through the memory barrier of reality, she might have thought this was the real world.
Sighing, Sakura forced a smile and said, “In the game’s setting, Gaara and I are betrothed, but recently, since being taken as a disciple by an Anbu-level powerhouse and seeing a limitless future for myself, and with Gaara becoming useless for unknown reasons, I’ve decided to break off the engagement.”
“So, Sakura and I are both antagonists?”
Sasuke recalled his script, looking thoughtful and slightly resentful, “My current identity is the strongest genius in the history of Konoha, reaching the peak of Jonin at 12 and just one step away from Anbu-level.”
“Even just considering combat power, with some hidden trump cards, I could match an Anbu-level fighter.”
“Because I’ve fallen for Sakura, I dislike her former fiancé, and whenever there’s a chance, I take a hit at Gaara.”
“But, I can’t kill him. I must always hold back, allowing him to grow and seek revenge.”
Sakura hadn’t noticed Sasuke’s frustrated expression. In fact, after hearing his backstory, she had already plunged into her fantasies, her face flushing hot.
“What does Jonin mean? Is it Jonin?”
Naruto focused oddly: “I’m a ‘Zero-Rank Ninja.’ What does that mean?”
“Idiot, can’t you remember on your own! All that knowledge is in your head!”
Disturbed by the interruption, Sasuke snorted coldly, “Friends, enemies, former fiancées… These settings are interesting. Perhaps, Teacher Wang Yan’s test for us is just this…”
Coming back to her senses, Sakura’s face showed confusion: “But what’s his purpose? Will our experiences in the game affect reality?”
Sasuke shook his head: “We all have some understanding of Teacher’s character; his ideas are whimsical, completely unpredictable. Since that’s the case, let’s just not worry about it. Playing our roles well is enough!”
After reaching a consensus, the three quickly sprang into action.
Several days later, in-game time.
The Sand village received an unwelcome visit.
Unwelcome guests arrived overwhelmingly, and the useless protagonist was scornfully dumped.
Unfortunately, this protagonist, Gaara, was not a hot-blooded youth and did not say things like, “Thirty years on the west of the river, thirty years on the east, do not underestimate the youth.”
He just coldly swept a glance at Sakura and her backer, Sasuke.
Staring bitterly at this couple, his eyes filled with murderous intent, he spat out a harsh threat: “You two will die by my hands.”
“Heh…”
Sasuke sneered disdainfully, venom dripping from his words: “Just a low-rank second stage in strength. Even your father is no match for me; who gave you the courage to speak boldly in front of me?”
Gaara’s fierce expression paused briefly before quickly retracting his arrogance and murderous aura.
Before sending those who humiliated him to meet the Reaper, he was not willing to be crushed to death without value!
Looking at Gaara with a smirk, Sasuke huffed lightly, “Weak trash. I heard you were once a genius of the Sand. No matter, I give you three years. You can die if you can’t even take one of my moves in three years.”
After boasting, Sasuke casually draped an arm around Sakura and left arrogantly.
It must be said Sasuke’s ability to attract hatred was quite remarkable.
Watching his departing figure, intense hatred made Gaara grind his teeth until his mouth was bloody.
A familiar yet strange voice sounded in his ear.
“Child, do you want the power to take revenge?”
“Who? Come out!”
Gaara’s pupils shrank instantly as he located the source of the voice.
The necklace around his neck.
“My name is Rasa. I was once an Anbu-level powerhouse of the Sand lineage, betrayed and killed by others. I barely escaped with my soul using the forbidden jutsu ‘Reaper Death Seal,’ thanks to your chakra over the years, and I’ve recovered enough to communicate.”
“So, it was you who stole my chakra!”
Gaara
Sneered nonstop, “If I destroy this necklace, will you die?”
“You child!”
The defiance briefly flared Rasa’s anger.
He felt wrong, yet he didn’t understand why he felt this way.
After all, he and Gaara were neither kin nor friends; his actions could be considered uninvited.
“Ah, I’ll try to make it up to you as much as possible…”
…
In the real world, the sunset and the moon rose, enveloping the earth at night.
Team 7 abruptly opened their eyes, removing their gaming helmets.
It’s a day in reality, a year in the game.
A whole year!
Naruto’s emotions completely collapsed, crying and laughing: “We’re finally back!”
That year was harder than his entire childhood!
To be friends with Gaara for a year could age someone by ten years!
Sakura just lay on the ground, staring blankly at the ceiling.
Sasuke’s face was dark and pale, like someone who hadn’t slept for days.
They finally understood why the virtual game blocked real memories.
If one truly believed they were just a fictitious life in a virtual world, not just a year or even living a whole lifetime, it wouldn’t matter.
But they had broken the memory barrier, knowing there were many things to do outside, yet they had to continue enduring time in the game world.
Sasuke’s strength and talent in the game were especially absurd. In just one year, he could easily crush Anbu-level fighters.
This feeling was exhilarating, but Sasuke’s mentality exploded when thinking about how he was just a weak Genin in reality.
He worried he might never achieve in real life the successes he easily reached in the game.
This contradiction nearly drove Sasuke to the brink of collapse.
“Ugh… Mom, Dad…” Sakura’s homesickness was almost tangible.
She missed them terribly after not seeing her family for a whole year.
After all, she was only 12 this year.
However, according to Sakura’s subjective feelings, she was already 13.
A year in “Shadow Break the Sky” greatly matured her.
The same was true for Naruto and Sasuke.
After crying and laughing, Naruto’s emotions stabilised, but then he began drooling uncontrollably, unable to wipe it all away.
“Ramen! Ramen! Uncle Ichiraku’s ramen! Ugh… I miss Uncle and Ayame-sister’s ramen so much!”
Wang Yan observed Gaara’s timeline and noticed several interesting future branches had developed.
Resource points continued to rise, and according to the assistant program’s calculations, once Gaara and Rasa’s transformation succeeded, they could harvest thirty thousand resource points.
So, he clapped his hands, drawing the attention of the three Genin.
“Alright.”
With a warm smile, he softly said, “You all did well with your tasks. In ‘two years,’ once Gaara’s strength in the game has increased, you’ll have to go in again.”
“The script has been sent to you. How well you perform will determine your final evaluation.”
As the sky darkened, Team 7 fell into a deep sleep.
At that moment, a weak and familiar voice called out near Wang Yan.
“Ancestor… are you there?”
It was Hinata’s voice.
“Another chapter before 1 AM.”
