Be the Main God from Naruto - Chapter 61
At this critical moment, Wang Yan did not keep everyone in suspense.
“The remaining 60 multiple-choice questions test something other than mere skills; they test the essence of being a ninja.”
As soon as he said this, everyone perked up their ears.
Even the dignified members of the Akatsuki paid closer attention.
“In my view, the essence of a ninja is to unify knowledge and action, steadfastly adhering to one’s life philosophy!”
“In your terms, it’s about steadfastly following the Ninja Way! Without wavering!”
“A person who cannot stick to their Ninja Way does not deserve to be called powerful!”
After these words, a silence fell over the arena, so quiet you could hear a pin drop.
Moments later, thunderous applause erupted, deafening in its intensity.
Raikage A laughed heartily, his voice rough: “I knew it. This kid is something special!”
Damn…
Sitting next to him, Tsunade almost wanted to swear out loud upon hearing this.
She looked up at Wang Yan in the sky, her mind full of resentment.
Can’t he just keep it low-key and give her a break?
First the Mizukage Mei Terumi, now Raikage A.
Even Kazekage Gaara seemed curious about Wang Yan, subtly probing and asking about him…
“Ah… perhaps those who have seen too many worlds and stories all have personalities like his?”
Tsunade knew all too well that her complaints were pointless. She knew better than anyone that Wang Yan wasn’t indeed a Konoha ninja; considering his other identity, he was her elder…
“So, how do we test this?”
Wang Yan’s lips curved into a slight smirk, his smile wild: “Some might think I’m boasting. But soon, you’ll understand what I mean.”
He snapped his fingers.
On the four particle fluorescence screens facing the audience and candidates, the next phase of the scoring process appeared.
“What? Impossible!” A student exclaimed in shock.
“Scoring ourselves? Who ever heard of such a thing?” questioned another, still rational amidst the confusion.
“Blocking out real-life memories and directly simulating the scenarios from the questions, allowing each candidate to make their own choices and see if they align with their written answers… Does Konoha have that many illusionist ninjas?” another student doubted Konoha’s capabilities.
Members of the Akatsuki, like Hidan, Kisame, and Kakuzu, shifted their gaze to Itachi, then back to Wang Yan, their expressions mocking.
These primitives who don’t understand science think only illusions can achieve what Wang Yan described as “self-grading.”
“Please don’t resist, and each of you takes a helmet with your corresponding number, enter the virtual scenario, and score yourselves.”
As Wang Yan spoke, over five hundred gaming helmets landed next to the candidates.
One by one, the candidates put on the helmets.
Some thought they were being tested on bravery, as accepting a strange and cold object on one’s head requires overcoming mental barriers.
What if someone had hidden a bomb in these bizarre-looking devices?
In reality, they were overthinking it; there was no additional scoring for decisiveness.
If someone refused to score themselves, there would be no consequences.
They would simply lose out on those 60 points!
But opting out like that would likely lead to a beating from their peers.
Team 7 and the newly joined Akatsuki member Gaara were among the first to don the helmets.
Having previously experienced virtual reality games—or rather, having played virtual reality games—they had more experience and mental preparedness than others and were unburdened by hesitation.
With these few leading the way, the rest of the candidates also donned the helmets.
It wasn’t that they fully trusted Konoha; instead, they believed that Konoha wouldn’t dare tamper with the devices at the risk of significant repercussions.
In the VIP section, the Fourth Kazekage Gaara watched the candidates with the gaming helmets, his expression complex.
“Is the Peace Council of the Ninja World real or not?”
“If it’s fake, where did this ‘Butcher Squad’ come from? They don’t look like pushovers, yet they are unknowns…”
Intelligent people tend to overthink, and Gaara was no exception.
However, Wang Yan didn’t give him much time to ponder.
The final phase of the written exam, self-scoring—began.
In that instant, Itachi reacted swiftly.
Sharingan, activate!
But it was futile.
This was the power of technology, not related to illusions at all nor to chakra, directly affecting the brainwaves and subconscious magnetic fields, completely enveloping him.
Faced with this, Itachi was embarrassed.
He had only two choices.
1. Resist the magnetic force, which also meant he couldn’t enter the “virtual deduction” and would thus forfeit the 60 points since he couldn’t grasp the operations of virtual reality
Games.
Even a genius must base judgments on knowledge and understanding of the world, and Itachi hadn’t reached the level of understanding all from one.
2. Submit to the force and enter the virtual deduction.
Itachi’s face was stern, the lines on his face seeming even deeper.
He glanced at Sasuke out of the corner of his eye.
The latter had already lost consciousness, seemingly in a deep sleep-like state.
“Interesting.”
After a brief commentary, Itachi entered the virtual reality world.
All the candidates made the same choice, as they had come too far to back down now. Refusing to put on the helmet would mean giving up all their prior efforts, which would be an unacceptable loss.
Meanwhile, on the four large screens, the situations encountered by the candidates appeared.
In a treacherous wilderness with carnivorous beasts all around and their chakra and stamina nearly depleted, making self-preservation difficult, how would they assist someone in need?
As the candidates made their choices, the “correct options” they had picked during the written exam also appeared in the upper right corner of the screens.
This made the process quite intriguing.
Wang Yan’s highly engaging method of grading captivated the audience in the arena.
“Does this count as cheating?”
He watched the “Butcher Squad Five,” now immersed in the virtual reality game, and pondered.
As his multitasking and role-playing skills improved, each member of the League of Legends Butcher Squad’s responses varied but were perfectly consistent with their earlier selections, fully embodying their characters.
Three hours and seven minutes later, all the candidates had completed their self-scoring.
Naruto was the first to remove his helmet, and upon seeing the individual score chart, he burst into laughter that sounded like a pig’s squeal: “Sasuke, you laggard! You scored even worse than me!”
Laggard Sasuke: Fellow big shots, how about donating some recommendation tickets so I can bribe the examiner? I’m pretty desperate with these results…
