- Chapter 66 - Sasuke's Strategy And The Valkyrie Of The Battlefield
In such a scenario, the scales of victory were gradually tipping in favor of Team 7.
The battle could probably be resolved in less than fifteen minutes if they focused solely on winning.
However, at the strong insistence of Tenten and Sakura, the three males of Team 7 slowed down their offensive.
They controlled the situation, experimenting with various strategies, familiarising themselves with the map, and preparing for upcoming battles.
After all, among the other 114 teams, there were many tough opponents.
Especially the devious alliance of Akatsuki and some small ninja villages, where even sending five Jonin to fight head-on would be a particular death sentence.
“OK, I’ve got all five of them suppressed. Feel free to share any thoughts,” Tenten said as she raised her hand, her finger pulling the trigger left trails in the air.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
Five bullets meant five deaths for the opponent.
Although in the “League of Glory,” friends and foes could resurrect in a mystical structure called the “Ether Well,” the time required for resurrection grew longer as the battle progressed.
Now, the five-member Team 7 unscrupulously used the opponent to stall time.
This was a beneficial bug, but only the Ino-Shika-Cho team and Team 7 had realized this.
Their discussions were visible to all spectators on the big screen.
This scene proved that Konoha did not provide any unfair advantages to their Genin or familiarise them with the battle environment beforehand.
…
“Looking at the current map, our base has three paths. If other maps are similar, we can develop many tactical strategies,” Sasuke said, his expression calm but his eyes ablaze with the fire of battle. “If our raw power is insufficient, we compensate with tactics!”
Seeing Sasuke so spirited, Naruto didn’t spoil the mood, listening quietly instead.
At that moment, he felt fortunate.
Although not the sharpest, his teammates…
“Ah! Youth! My blood is boiling!” Far away, Rock Lee was decimating enemy NPCs.
Well, the other three teammates’ IQs were at least above average.
Realizing this, Naruto decided to sit down meditatively, trying to tap into “Sage Mode,” as mentioned in the prophetic books, to sense natural energy.
Unfortunately, without the help of sage oil and despite the game’s ability to simulate natural energy due to Wang Yan’s modifications, achieving this was still out of reach for him.
“What are the tactics?” Tenten, holding her anti-material rifle as if cradling a lover, asked.
“Two plans!” Sasuke, embodying Shikamaru’s spirit, raised two fingers. “First plan against stronger opponents! We might deliberately give up some resources to ambush the enemy team’s strongest. Even if we can’t kill them, we’ll harass and prevent them from gaining merits, securing divine favors for ourselves. This way, we accumulate an equipment advantage and gradually snowball to unstoppable dominance!”
“Second plan,” Sasuke’s gaze lingered on Tenten, hesitating slightly.
Feeling a tinge of jealousy, Sakura inwardly raged though she appeared calm on the surface.
“Resource allocation!”
“Huh?” Naruto, excellent at setting up others, condensed his question into a single word.
“The core of this plan is Tenten! If we funnel resources from two lanes to her, defending the remaining lane well with her range advantage should be enough to blast most teams that are not much stronger than us!”
Even Sakura had to admit the effectiveness of this strategy.
Tenten’s weapon was exceedingly powerful, capable of one-shotting even elite Jonin if they were careless.
An idiot sometimes makes an inspired guess, and Naruto raised: “But what if the ‘God of Glory’ gives equipment she can’t use?”
“Impossible.”
Sasuke confidently stated, “Why ask? Because I’m here.”
This pacing of speech caused Rock Lee to teleport to Sasuke’s side instantly.
“Sasuke, your line is just like something Gilgamesh would say! Are you aiming to become the King of Heroes too? Then we are rivals from now on!”
Sasuke’s expression cracked.
Covering half his face, he sighed.
Being on the same team as Naruto and Rock Lee often made him feel like his brain cells were dying much faster.
“May I make a suggestion?” Tenten fired a few shots, removing the newly resurrected enemy team who had just emerged from the “Ether Well.”
“Of course.” In Sasuke’s eyes, Tenten was the only average teammate in Team 7.
An average person among freaks is worth cherishing!
(I feel like I insulted myself, too…)
Sasuke shook his head, his tone gentle, which made Sakura want to murder someone: “Please, go.
ahead.”
Tenten blushed slightly but quickly regained her composure: “If we go with the second plan, my mobility and stamina won’t be enough, wasting a lot of battlefield merit.”
“That’s already considered.”
Sasuke looked proud: “I’ve thought about that. When the time comes, let Rock Lee carry you. With his speed and stamina, there won’t be any mishaps or waste.”
“Yes! I guarantee to complete the mission!” Rock Lee responded crisply, without hesitation.
“Oh.” Tenten seemed a bit disappointed.
After the strategy meeting, the opposing team, still stubborn, didn’t surrender, so the new Team 7 advanced together and obliterated the enemy’s main base in one fell swoop.
…
When Team 7 removed their gaming helmets, many contestants had already finished their first match.
Some were crying, others were laughing uncontrollably, and some teams even fought among themselves…
The virtual reality game was too realistic, and many mistook it for the real world, unable to fully unleash their capabilities.
Human nature is terrifying. How many would sacrifice their teammates, thinking they were going to die?
From this perspective, the team that battled against Team 7 was relatively lucky.
Their friendship withstood the test, their bonds strengthened, and their resilience and willpower began to be widely acclaimed, becoming known worldwide.
Team 7’s reputation, however, took a hit.
It is not related to their brutal gameplay but purely because of the grudges pulled by Sasuke and Tenten.
Sasuke’s scenario of suggesting those two tactics, highlighted on the big screen due to Wang Yan’s mischievous intervention, had garnered many female fans, earning him the nickname “Sasuke the Strategist.”
Although somewhat undeserved, the nickname indeed attracted the ire of many men.
As for Tenten, the grudges from women were similar to Sasuke’s.
Her position at the respawn point, achieving multiple pentakills, made her seem so cool, powerful, and beautiful that many men admired her, earning her the title “Valkyrie of the Battlefield.”
Not a mediocrity, Tenten took the jealousy from her female peers lightly, showing a carefree demeanor.
Soon, the fifteen-minute break ended, and the contestants picked up their helmets again, their eyes scanning the matchup list on the screen.
Perhaps due to their ruthless gameplay in the first match, Team 7’s next opponent was Akatsuki.
Naruto and Sasuke exchanged glances, then turned their eyes to a figure floating in the air.
“Teacher Wang Yan! Witness the results of our special training!”
