Bleach Seireitei's Discipline Captain - Chapter 152
As expected, the three people in the room immediately shifted their gazes toward the newcomer.
The figure had a slender build, wearing a white captain’s haori with two strands of black hair falling over his face. His pale complexion gave him the appearance of someone who hadn’t seen sunlight for years. Embroidered on the back of his hair was the kanji for “Eleven.”
“Eleventh Division…”
Kuchiki Byakuya’s usual calm expression broke for a moment, unable to comprehend what was happening. Had the Central 46 already appointed a new Eleventh Division captain without informing them?
He knew about Kenpachi Zaraki being imprisoned in Muken, but the person before them, wearing the Eleventh Division captain’s haori, was not Kenpachi. They seemed to be complete opposites—one was utterly wild, while the other appeared highly composed.
“Has the Central 46 really decided on a new Eleventh Division captain so quickly?” Ginrinji Jir? adjusted his glasses, puzzled. “There’s been no official notice from the First Division.”
Only Kuchiki Ginrei tensed up when he saw the person, his powerful spiritual pressure instinctively flaring up as he protectively positioned himself in front of Kuchiki Byakuya, his face filled with caution.
“Jich? Tsumuya, your sentence isn’t over yet, is it?”
Hearing this, Tsumuya calmly responded to Ginrei’s wary stance, “I’ve simply come to do what I must.”
He paid little attention to the Kuchiki family members, instead walking over to Ginrinji Jir?, who still seemed unsure of the situation. From his pocket, Tsumuya produced a pouch and placed it on the table. “This is the compensation that should have been given to your family 150 years ago, including interest.”
Ginrinji Jir?’s expression stiffened as he instinctively recalled a deeply unpleasant memory.
Tsumuya’s gaze then shifted to Kuchiki Ginrei. “It’s been a while, Ginrei.”
“My sentence hasn’t technically ended, but Muken has imprisoned someone utterly detestable.”
It seemed that Tsumuya was more willing to speak when addressing Ginrei.
“According to my original plan, I wouldn’t have shown up at this time,” he paused, as a woman dressed in white appeared at his side, her strange laughter trying to disrupt their conversation.
“Kenny, huh…” Ginrei suddenly realized that Tsumuya, another former captain of the Eleventh Division, stood in stark contrast to Kenpachi Zaraki. It made sense that Tsumuya would harbor disdain for Kenpachi.
“Could you share your plan with me?” Ginrei attempted to gather more information through conversation.
However, Tsumuya simply gave him a look as if he were an idiot, and silence filled the air.
Even Byakuya seemed to give his grandfather a look of mild disapproval.
Ginrei coughed awkwardly. “I apologize, I may have been too forward.”
Having spent many years in his position, Ginrei quickly brushed off the embarrassment like a gentle breeze.
“Hahaha! This old man actually tried to get you to spill your secrets using such a foolish method! Only an idiot would fall for something like that!” the woman wrapped herself around Tsumuya, laughing mockingly.
“My goal hasn’t changed,” Tsumuya said, his voice calm as if discussing something unrelated to him. “The only thing that’s changed is a minor adjustment in the execution.”
“Hey! You’re not that idiot, are you?” the woman, enraged, tightened her grip around Tsumuya’s neck.
“I understand,” Ginrei said softly. “I’ll report this to Genry?sai immediately.”
“Tsumuya, your plan won’t succeed. Muken is where you’ll ultimately return…”
Before Ginrei could finish, Tsumuya had already vanished from the office, his spiritual pressure dissipating into the atmosphere.
The bright but gentle light broke apart, and spiritual particles melded back into the air.
A dazed look briefly passed across Ginrinji Jir?’s face. If it weren’t for the pouch left on the table, he might have thought everything that just happened was an illusion.
Ten minutes later, at the First Division barracks.
“We’re in a state of emergency!”
Yamamoto Genry?sai’s spiritual pressure and voice nearly blanketed the entire barracks. The air grew hotter, and even the moisture began to evaporate slightly, causing the atmosphere to become dry.
Kuchiki Ginrei glanced around, noticing that aside from the perpetually ill J?shir? Ukitake and the imprisoned Kenpachi Zaraki, everyone was present—even the newly appointed Mayuri Kurotsuchi had come to attend this captains’ meeting.
“A short while ago, Jich? Tsumuya escaped from Muken and appeared at the Sixth Division barracks, where he explained his purpose,” Ginrei quickly recounted the earlier events.
Reactions varied among the gathered captains: some were anxious, others darkened with worry, while a few were merely curious, watching the situation unfold.
Ginrei then noticed Tokikaze’s casual demeanor and couldn’t help but feel awkward. This was a potentially catastrophic situation that could affect all of Soul Society and even the entire three realms, yet Tokikaze looked like an uninterested bystander.
Tokikaze, however, was calmly observing the room, his mood unaffected by the oppressive heat. Having trained under Yamamoto for so long, he was used to the heat.
While others were sweating profusely, Tokikaze remained perfectly dry.
He was more curious about the connection between the recent disturbance in Hell—when the four noble families helped the Gyokuzai family stabilize it—and Tsumuya’s sudden escape from Muken.
Could the two events be linked?
Tokikaze knew Tsumuya’s goal and understood what kind of person he was, which is why he didn’t believe Ginrei’s theory about Tsumuya’s hatred for Kenpachi Zaraki.
The hatred was real, but that wasn’t the main reason.
Perhaps Tsumuya had uncovered some secret or saw a greater chance for his plan to succeed.
In any case, Tsumuya was an absolute pragmatist.
“Does anyone have a strategy for dealing with this situation?” Yamamoto’s gaze swept across the room, but it eventually settled on Tokikaze.
Though Yamamoto couldn’t explain it, he had a sudden premonition that Jich? Tsumuya’s escape was somehow profoundly connected to Tokikaze…
