Bleach Seireitei's Discipline Captain - Chapter 154
“You claim to understand everything about the world,” Tokikaze said. “But that’s just your narrow perspective.”
He continued, “Eradicating all Hollows from the world? That would plunge everything back into a chaotic void where life and death no longer exist.”
“Is that what you think the duty of a Shinigami is?”
In the center of the room, Jich? Tsumuya, glowing faintly, fell silent.
With his limited sources of information, he couldn’t verify the truth of Tokikaze’s words.
“Neither the teachings of the Shin’? Academy nor the records of the noble families,” Tokikaze said, staring directly at Jich?, “have ever mentioned wiping out all Hollows.”
To Tokikaze, Jich? Tsumuya was a sad person. His tragic experiences as a child had led his thoughts down an extreme path. It was the noble families’ power struggles that had twisted his mind this way.
Hundreds of years ago, the Jich? family had been a prestigious clan in the Soul Society, and Jich? Tsumuya, as the eldest son, was extraordinarily gifted. But when tragedy struck the Jich? family, its leaders were killed, and other nobles, eager to seize their assets, plotted the deaths of the remaining family members.
Jich?’s sister was the sole survivor, but during her execution, she fought a Hollow by unleashing her yet-unmastered Twin Lotus Blue Fire Crash, causing her body to explode in a desperate attempt to take down the Hollow.
All that was left of her was a final smile, etched forever in Jich? Tsumuya’s memory.
Yet even after her death, the nobles were not satisfied. They ordered more Hollows to be released into the execution ground.
In despair, Jich? awakened his Zanpakut?, Uro Zazaniya, and with its power, he massacred all the nobles present, turning the scene into a nightmare.
The commander of the Onmitsukid? himself had called it the most horrific and unimaginable sight he had ever witnessed.
Though Jich?’s past was tragic, Tokikaze couldn’t help but find something strange about him. Was he perhaps like the Uchiha clan from the neighboring village?
Ultimately, it was the nobles who had betrayed Jich?’s family that were the true culprits. But after slaughtering all the nobles responsible, and with no one left to take revenge on, Jich? turned his hatred toward Hollows—the beings that had killed his sister.
Only by eliminating all Hollows could his heart, filled with rage and grief, find peace.
Unfortunately for him, Jich? sensed that the Soul King himself disapproved of his plan, so he shifted his focus to the humans in the living world.
“That’s just your perspective,” Jich? replied calmly, unaffected by Tokikaze’s words.
“As I mentioned earlier, your power is quite special,” he said. “With your ability, I could purify the entire Hollow realm and change humanity itself, eradicating the roots of Hollow creation.”
“Resentment, desires, and attachments—these are the seeds from which Hollows grow, and they destroy the Chain of Fate. By removing them, I can achieve this grand vision.”
Though his words sounded logical at first, upon closer examination, they were absurd.
Changing human emotions like desire would reduce people to machines. And when they died, their souls would take the same emotionless form in the Rukongai.
At that point, the Rukongai would be a wasteland of the living dead, and the entire Soul Society would become a desolate, hopeless land.
“You’re too extreme,” Tokikaze responded coldly. “You must understand that Hollows are part of this world. To be precise, they were the original rulers of it.”
“Even the Soul King came into existence after the Hollows.”
“As someone who came later, you’re trying to eliminate the world’s original inhabitants, erasing them from existence. How is that any different from the nobles who destroyed your family?”
After Tokikaze’s words, the others could see a flicker of emotion in Jich? Tsumuya’s eyes, shattering his calm facade.
But within moments, he regained his composure.
Yamamoto Genry?sai tapped his cane on the ground, drawing everyone’s attention back to him. His commanding voice echoed through the room:
“The living world and the Soul Society exist as two sides of the same coin.”
“I sense no respect for this world in your ideas. Your actions trample on the justice that our ancestors in the Soul Society have established over millennia!”
Tokikaze coughed slightly, suppressing the laughter rising in his throat.
Jich? Tsumuya’s ideas were already irrational, but Yamamoto Genry?sai’s words were even more ridiculous.
Justice, built by the ancestors of the Soul Society?
What a joke. Looking back at the history of the five great noble families and the founding of the Gotei 13, “justice” was hardly the right word for it.
It had always been darkness and more darkness after that.
As Tokikaze had said before, “justice” was merely a grandiose term used to mask the truth.
Facing Yamamoto’s overwhelming pressure, Jich? Tsumuya replied indifferently:
“Respect is meaningless.”
“As Shinigami, we need only be the cogs that keep this world turning.”
But this sentiment won him no support from anyone present—not even from Tokikaze, whom he had hoped might understand.
With a quiet sigh, Jich? Tsumuya’s form began to dissolve, fragmenting like a shadow in the sunlight until he disappeared into the atmosphere.
“Of course, I am the same…”
His final words echoed through the room as the temperature continued to rise.
Jich?’s provocation had undoubtedly angered Yamamoto Genry?sai, whose rage burned hotter with every second.
“In the coming days, the restrictions are lifted!” Yamamoto Genry?sai’s eyes seemed to blaze with fire, the moisture in the air evaporating, “All Shinigami ranked vice-captain and above must carry their Zanpakut? at all times and are authorized to release them if necessary.”
“Captain Shiba Isshin!”
“Uh, yes!” Shiba Isshin was still lost in thought over Jich?’s words and had a hard time snapping out of it.
“Draft a Level One directive and deliver it to every member of the Gotei 13.”
Yamamoto Genry?sai’s voice was firm, “We must put an end to Jich? Tsumuya’s absurd ambitions!”
