Chapter 12: My Son is Definitely Not Like That
“I got it.”
Chen Ye responded.
Chen Hui Chang continued, “By the way, there’s a girl named Tang Zichen who’s been popular on the internet recently. You should know about her, right?”
“I know.”
Chen Ye calmly replied, “She became famous nationwide because she successfully integrated the hero talent with the code name S2, becoming the second person in history to achieve this.”
“Yeah! Her father is actually my former comrade, and our families have a close relationship…”
Chen Hui Chang said, “Now she has also been admitted to Wumu University. I’ve talked to her, and she will take care of you in the Secret Realm. When you get to school, remember to connect with her and maintain a good relationship, understand?”
“I understand!”
Chen Ye readily agreed, feeling a myriad of emotions. For his son, Chen Hui Chang had really gone through a lot. Being a parent is not easy!
At this moment, Chen’s mother, Yang Rongzhi, suddenly interjected, “Son, it would be even better if you could bring that girl back. Such a girl perfectly fits my ideal daughter-in-law!”
Upon hearing this, both father and son were rendered speechless.
“I’ll do my best!”
Chen Ye gave a perfunctory response. He was well aware that the girl was young and had achieved extraordinary success, which might lead to a proud personality. Chen Ye, on the other hand, disliked arrogant people, regardless of their appearance.
Would he become a lackey? That was even more impossible!
“Alright.”
Chen’s father stood up and said, “I have some matters to attend to. I won’t be coming back for dinner tonight.”
Yang Rongzhi expressed her dissatisfaction, “Our son is leaving in a few days, can’t you stay home for a couple of days?”
“It’s Mr. Tang and his wife are coming over.”
Chen Hui Chang helplessly said, “I need to entertain them.”
Hearing the surname Tang, Chen Ye speculated that his old man might be trying to repay a favour. Even though he managed to get things done, it might have caused dissatisfaction with the parents on the other side.
If it was just to establish a connection, both parents should come together. Chen Hui Chang bringing only Yang Rongzhi suggested that there might be some grievances.
Even Chen Ye, who was just a young man, could figure this out.
As a businesswoman running her own company, Yang Rongzhi naturally had her own insights.
“Drink less.”
Yang Rongzhi reminded, and then didn’t say anything more.
After Chen’s father left, Chen Ye also said, “Mom, I’m going to the basement to train.”
…
In the blink of an eye, five more days passed.
At the station entrance, Chen Ye bid farewell to his parents with luggage in tow.
“Mom, Dad, you can go back! Don’t bother coming in.”
Chen Ye smiled and said, “It’s crowded inside the station, and you two are public figures. You might get recognized.”
Chen Hui Chang remained silent.
Yang Rongzhi said, “Okay, we won’t go in. Take care of yourself, and don’t sleep on the train.”
“Sure.”
Chen Ye said, “I’ll send you a message to let you know I’m safe as soon as I arrive.”
Leaving these words behind, he didn’t linger any longer, dragging his suitcase away.
Due to some special circumstances, the start of the supernatural university was earlier than usual, usually in early June.
And now, it was already the end of May…
After Chen Ye left.
The couple sat in the car, silently watching Chen Ye’s departing figure.
Until Chen Ye’s figure completely entered the station, Yang Rongzhi sighed and spoke, “Little Chao has been away in the military for a long time, and now our son has left too. This home is getting lonelier.”
Chen’s father frowned, “Children grow up, they have their own careers and lives. Do you want to tie them to your side forever?”
Yang Rongzhi didn’t argue with her husband but asked with doubt, “Old Chen, haven’t you noticed that our son has changed a lot recently?”
“This kid has indeed changed a lot. His body used to look a bit weak, but now he seems much stronger.”
“I’m not talking about that!”
Yang Rongzhi said, “He’s been training hard every day recently, and his personality has changed a lot. It feels like he has suddenly become more sensible.”
“Speaking of which, this kid has indeed changed quite a bit.”
Chen Hui Chang thought for a moment and sighed, “It seems that receiving a certain amount of setbacks is not entirely a bad thing. At least it can make people grow.”
Bringing up this point, Yang Rongzhi became annoyed, “My son is already intelligent. He doesn’t need to grow through other people’s setbacks… Old Chen, have you found any information about what I asked you to investigate?”
“Not yet.”
Chen’s father replied insincerely.
In fact, he did find something.
He had connections with people in the telecommunications company and checked his son’s mobile communication records. He found that his son had been in frequent contact with several young women in the past six months.
He even recognized two of them.
One was the wife of his subordinate, and the other was her friend…
However, Chen’s father didn’t think much about it.
Could it be that his little son had some unique tastes at such a young age? Impossible! Absolutely impossible!
Chen Hui Chang thought that his son might be contacting these women to ask for help with homework…
To prevent his wife from thinking too much, Chen Hui Chang didn’t mention these findings.
“After all this time, why haven’t you found any clues?”
Yang Rongzhi frowned, “Don’t you know people in the telecommunications company? Ask them to check our son’s communication records. There shouldn’t be any problem, right?”
“I already had someone check it. Our son’s mobile communication records are fine.”
Chen’s father said half-truthfully, “I even asked some of his classmates specifically, and they all said that our son doesn’t have a girlfriend at school… I guess he might have met someone online.”
“Really?”
Yang Rongzhi continued to frown, sinking into thought.
Chen’s father started the car while saying, “Rongzhi, regarding this matter, don’t be stubborn. If we can’t find anything, just let it go. Anyway, our son has already grown up, becoming sensible. This is a good thing.”
“If he finds out that you’re investigating him, it might affect the relationship between you and him.”
This reasoning made sense.
Yang Rongzhi wavered.
She no longer dwelled on this matter, changing the topic, “Old Chen, what plans do you have for our son’s future?”
“Little Chao inherited your talent, and now he has also achieved success. I’m not worried about him.”
“It’s our son. At a critical point in his life, he made a mistake and chose the wrong path. If we don’t take care of him, his future achievements will be limited. Even if we pass on the family business to him, he may not be able to hold onto it…”
Chen Hui Chang frowned, contemplated for a moment, and sighed, “For a situation like his, there’s only one way to change his fate…”
…
Due to the threat of monsters, many transportation routes were disrupted, leading to inconvenience in travel.
Even though the city where Chen Ye was located was only three to four hundred miles away from the Wumu University in a straight line, it took him over seven hours and three train changes to reach his destination.
After leaving the station, Chen Ye first sent a message to his parents to let them know he had arrived safely. Then, he hailed a taxi and headed straight for Wumu University.
