Dragon Ball: I Will Become an Angel as a Saiyan - Chapter 124
Surpassing Beerus? (Part 1)
…
“I’ll take a look first.” Mule nodded in satisfaction.
“Once you’ve practiced it, let me know if your power improves,” Champa chuckled.
“Sure, sure,” Mule didn’t object.
The call ended there.
Mule picked up the Sunflower Manual and noticed the bold print on the cover: In the world of martial arts, speed is the ultimate power.
Curious, he opened the first page.
“To master this divine technique, one must first undergo self-castration!”
Mule: “…”
He tried to turn to the second page, but no matter what he did, it wouldn’t budge.
The next moment, Mule noticed a small line of text under the first instruction: Complete the requirement to unlock the second page.
Mule was speechless.
No wonder Champa didn’t want to train with this.
Mule’s gaze wandered over to Broly, who was still eating.
Then, Mule calmly returned to Sidra’s side, placing the Sunflower Manual on the table.
Sidra glanced at the book, puzzled. “Sunflower Manual? What’s this?”
“Uh, Champa sent it to me,” Mule replied, watching Broly closely.
Broly immediately perked up, pointing in their direction.
“That’s mine!” Broly stood up and pointed at the book.
“Did you give this to Champa?” Mule asked, smiling.
Broly nodded.
“Did you practice it?” Mule continued.
Broly nodded vigorously.
Mule: “…”
Mule suddenly felt a wave of sympathy for Broly.
This kid…
Doesn’t he know what that technique requires?
Ah, children can be so clueless.
“Since you gave it to Champa and now he’s given it to me, are you planning to take it back?” Mule asked with a grin.
“You fed me delicious food… consider it a gift.” Broly waved his hand generously, glancing at the feast on the table.
“Fair enough,” Mule chuckled, his smile full of hidden meaning.
Sidra, intrigued, picked up the Sunflower Manual and read the text on the cover.
“In the world of martial arts, speed is the ultimate power?” Sidra murmured.
“Champa said that even Ultra Instinct can’t compete with absolute speed,” Mule said with a grin. “What do you think, Sidra?”
“He’s not wrong… If speed reaches an absolute level, even Ultra Instinct might not be able to react,” Sidra agreed, turning to the first page.
After reading the first line, Sidra fell silent.
A moment later, Sidra glanced at the android beside him, Little Seven, and then tossed the book back to Mule.
“This manual isn’t for me,” Sidra shook his head.
There was a brief pause.
“Mule, you should give it a try,” Sidra laughed. “It’s not like you can’t recover. Who knows, maybe you’ll really push your speed to its limit.”
“I heard that Ren and Broly reached their current strength by practicing the Sunflower Manual. They only trained for a year,” Mule whispered to Sidra.
“They only trained for a year? That’s impressive…” Sidra was genuinely surprised and patted Mule’s shoulder. “Mule, I really think you should give it a shot. If you reach the power of a God of Destruction and combine that with Mosco’s body, you might even surpass Beerus!”
Mule’s eyes widened, and he felt the weight of the Sunflower Manual grow heavier in his hands.
You’re making a lot of sense.
If I can reach the power of a God of Destruction and use Mosco’s body, I could crush Beerus, no problem!
Let those Gods of Destruction underestimate me!
I’ll give it a try!
…
That evening.
The moon hung high in the sky, its light illuminating a shadowy cave where Mule sat on a rock, legs spread across the ground.
Mule held the Sunflower Manual in his hands and opened it to the first page.
“To master this divine technique, one must first undergo self-castration!”
Mule clenched his teeth, summoning an energy blade at the tip of his finger.
With a swift motion, Mule swung his finger.
“Ahhh!”
A piercing scream echoed across the surface of the moon.
Majin Buu stepped out of his room and gazed up at the sky, his face full of confusion.
“What’s going on?” Broly rubbed his eyes, following Buu outside with a curious look.
“Broly, did you hear someone screaming from the moon?” Majin Buu pointed at the moon.
“No,” Broly shook his head.
“The moon is so round tonight,” Majin Buu suddenly commented.
“Yeah, it is,” Broly agreed. “The last time I saw the moon this round was six months ago… I tore it in half.”
Majin Buu blinked, baffled by the strange statement, unsure why Broly would do such a thing.
The two of them grinned and stared at the full moon hanging in the sky.
“Uh… Ren said I shouldn’t stare at the full moon for too long… or I might transform into a Great Ape,” Broly suddenly withdrew his gaze, his heartbeat quickening, and his breathing becoming heavier.
Majin Buu: “???”
Broly took deep breaths, quickly calming himself without transforming.
“You’re a strange one,” Majin Buu chuckled.
Broly laughed along.
After a brief silence, Broly suddenly asked, “Hey, if you absorbed me, how much stronger would you get?”
“How much stronger? I don’t know… Probably stronger than both of us combined,” Majin Buu replied.
“That’s not very helpful,” Broly shook his head.
“Heh, do you want me to absorb you?” Majin Buu grinned mischievously.
“We’ll talk about that if the time comes,” Broly said, mimicking Ren’s mature tone, folding his arms behind his back, and pretending to be deep in thought.
“You’re my friend now, so I won’t absorb you,” Majin Buu shook his head.
“If I ever get into trouble, you can absorb me,” Broly whispered into Buu’s ear.
Majin Buu didn’t fully understand Broly’s intentions but nodded in agreement.
…
On the moon.
Mule, pale and trembling with pain, glanced at the Sunflower Manual.
“Unlock successful.”
The words appeared on the first page, and Mule, taking a deep breath, eagerly flipped to the second page.
The second page bore a new message: Even after castration, success is not guaranteed.
Mule’s face turned even paler, dread filling his expression.
He quickly flipped to the third page.
Success is possible even without castration.
Mule’s entire body shook with rage, his complexion turning ashen.
Finally, he flipped to the fourth page.
There was only one word: End.
Mule stared blankly at the single word, written in a mocking, twisted style, as if taunting him.
It might as well have said “Fool.”
“Arrghhh!”
Mule exploded in fury, disintegrating the book with a single blow.
Champa, you’ll pay for this!
I won’t forgive you!
And Broly… how dare you mess with me.
You and Champa must’ve plotted this together, didn’t you?
If I find out you’re responsible for my son’s death, I’ll destroy you completely.
I’ll wipe you out so thoroughly that you’ll never be revived.
…
Surpassing Beerus? (Part 2)
…
Universe 11, Pride Planet.
Merus was relentless, stubbornly clinging to Jiren, trying to convince him to become his trainee Supreme Kai.
Jiren was on the verge of tears.
Jiren wondered if he should ask Belmod: Was Marcarita this persistent when she convinced you to become the God of Destruction?
Are all angels this shameless?
Jiren refused again and again, making it clear he wasn’t interested in becoming Supreme Kai.
In fact, to avoid Merus pushing him to become a God of Destruction, Jiren even stated he wasn’t interested in that either.
Jiren insisted he just wanted to remain an ordinary person.
Three days passed quickly.
Merus’ efforts to recruit Jiren ended in failure.
“Fine, I’ll take over,” Ren sighed.
Merus looked defeated, as if the girl he liked had rejected him.
He had chased Jiren for three days, but to no avail.
The worst part?
He was tall, rich, and handsome!
There must be something wrong with this guy’s brain.
Merus was lost in his thoughts.
It was the first time in his life, as an angel, that he’d pursued a human to make them a Supreme Kai.
But Jiren didn’t appreciate it at all.
“Alright, go ahead, Ren,” Merus said, taking a deep breath as he spoke to Ren. “I don’t believe he’ll agree to become your Supreme Kai.”
After all, in Merus’ mind, if he couldn’t convince Jiren, how could Ren?
Merus was the Grand Priest’s son, after all. Ren was just a regular human, though he was evolving on the path to becoming an Angel. Still, his status was nowhere near as special as Merus’.
If I can’t do it, how can you?
Ren, without rushing, found Jiren and had a deep conversation with him.
About ten minutes later, Ren and Jiren stepped out of the room, and Jiren’s expression was much more solemn, carrying a newfound respect.
Merus: “???”
Merus suddenly sensed that something was off.
Wait… it feels like Ren actually convinced him.
“Greetings, Lord Merus.” Jiren immediately stepped forward and bowed respectfully to Merus.
Merus was stunned.
What’s going on?
Merus was completely at a loss. The Jiren standing before him, bowing with respect, was completely different from the one who had ignored him for the past three days.
Could this really be the same Jiren who barely acknowledged me?
Throughout the past three days, Jiren had completely avoided interacting with Merus.
And now, suddenly, he’s bowing to me?
“Are you… really Jiren?” Merus asked, still unsure of the situation.
“Lord Merus, I agree to become your trainee Supreme Kai!” Jiren bowed again.
Merus was dumbfounded, blinking in disbelief for a long moment before he snapped back to reality.
Turning his head to Ren, Merus was desperate for an explanation.
“Ren made a promise to me, which is why I’m willing to become your Supreme Kai,” Jiren explained, glancing at Ren as he spoke.
“A promise?” Merus was puzzled, turning his gaze toward Ren again.
“It’s nothing major. Jiren’s biggest wish is to bring his master, Gicchin, back to life,” Ren explained with a smile. “I promised him that once he becomes a true Supreme Kai, I’d help fulfill that wish and find a way to resurrect his master.”
Merus: “…”
How did I not know such an important detail?
And how did you know about this?
If you had told me earlier, I could’ve used that to convince him!
“Jiren, how did your master die?” Merus asked offhandedly.
“He was killed by a member of the Demon Clan,” Jiren replied solemnly. “His soul couldn’t escape in time.”
Merus: “…”
Merus suddenly felt a headache coming on.
The next moment, Merus pulled Ren aside and whispered, “Ren, do you even realize what you’re promising?”
“What’s the problem?” Ren asked casually.
“A soul that’s been destroyed? Even we Angels can’t bring someone like that back,” Merus said, shaking his head in frustration.
“What about the Super Dragon Balls? Couldn’t they bring back someone without a soul?” Ren smiled slightly.
“The Super Dragon Balls? Well, in that case, it should be possible,” Merus’ eyes lit up as he suddenly understood. “So, your plan is to use the Super Dragon Balls to resurrect Gicchin?”
“Seems effective, doesn’t it? Jiren agreed to become the Supreme Kai immediately,” Ren laughed.
“Wait a second… something still feels off…” Merus rubbed his head, feeling like something wasn’t adding up.
Ren just smiled without saying anything, watching Merus.
“Hold on… weren’t you planning to make Jiren your Supreme Kai? Why are you giving him to me?” Merus asked, confused.
“I was just teasing you. Why would I compete with you for him?” Ren laughed, hovering in the air, and patted Merus on the shoulder, speaking with a tone full of sincerity. “You’re my best friend. It wouldn’t be right for me to take the Supreme Kai you’ve got your eye on.”
“…Ren…” Merus’ eyes grew misty.
“Don’t cry now. Angels don’t cry… right?” Ren teased.
“Take that tone out of it…” Merus rubbed his eyes, his expression filled with gratitude.
Ren is just too kind to me.
He convinced such a great candidate and gave him to me to be my Supreme Kai trainee.
“So, what about you? Are you really going to train Son Goku to become a Supreme Kai?” Merus asked, feeling a bit embarrassed.
“You’ve already picked the strong ones, so I’ll just train whoever’s left,” Ren sighed dramatically, pretending to be resigned.
“Don’t say that, Ren,” Merus said seriously. “There are still 12 universes out there. We can take our time finding the right candidates. This time, I’ll help you pick.”
“No need. I’ll stick with Goku. I prefer training my own kind,” Ren smiled.
“If that’s what you’ve decided, then I won’t go easy on Goku during the tests,” Merus chuckled.
“Fair enough,” Ren nodded.
Ren thought it over carefully and reaffirmed his decision to focus on training Son Goku.
One day, when Goku faces off against Merus’ Jiren, that will truly be interesting.
Goku, I’ll make sure to train you into a remarkable warrior over the next 30 years.
As for Jiren… Ren wasn’t all that interested in him.
Everyone has their limits, after all.
In Ren’s view, Goku, Vegeta, and even Broly didn’t seem to have any limits.
Jiren, on the other hand, was likely already near his ceiling.
Even if Jiren did grow stronger, it wouldn’t be by much—unless some extraordinary circumstance gave him a big boost.
Plus, there was a sense of pride in training his own people.
And, more importantly, Ren knew how to train them.
So, after much thought, Ren decided to pass Jiren on to Merus.
Merus had always wanted Jiren as his Supreme Kai.
Consider this a little favor from me.
But when Jiren loses to Goku one day, I wonder what Merus’ expression will be.
I even gave you the chance to pick Goku earlier, but you insisted on Jiren.
Ren was looking forward to that day.
Merus’ expression during that moment would surely be more priceless than the God of Destruction Selection Tournament.
Especially by then, I’ll have fully evolved into a true Angel.
I can’t wait!
Ren was delighted at the thought.
“So… shall we head back to Universe 18 now?” Merus suggested. “Or do you want to swing by Earth in Universe 6 and pick up Goku?”
“No need to visit Earth just yet. Let Goku grow on his own for a while,” Ren suggested. “Let’s head back to Universe 18. By the way, are you bringing Jiren with you?”
“What do you think?” Merus asked, seeking Ren’s input.
“Leave him a book to study. Let him figure things out for a while. We can come back to guide him when we have time—there’s still 30 years,” Ren smiled.
“You’re right. I think we should also find an experienced Supreme Kai to learn from,” Merus agreed after considering it.
“How about the Supreme Kai from Universe 7? We could learn from him,” Ren suggested.
Merus: “…”
“You’ve got to be kidding. Following the Supreme Kai of Universe 7? We’d both end up in a mess,” Merus wiped his brow.
The two shared a few more jokes and chatted briefly before approaching Jiren again.
With a quick flick of his wrist, Merus conjured a book in his hand.
Ren glanced at the cover and saw the title: The Supreme Kai’s Guide to Training.
