- Chapter 94 - The First Meeting with Vados
Universe 10, Outer Space
Ren and his crew’s spaceship sped through the cosmos.
“We’ll reach the God of Destruction’s realm in Universe 6 in about 20 minutes,” Merus explained calmly to Ren and Broly.
Suddenly, Merus felt his staff vibrate slightly.
“I… I need to take a call,” Merus said, heading to his room.
Merus guessed it was probably Cus calling, better to take it in private to avoid Ren seeing and catching on.
“Phone.” Broly handed Merus a communication device resembling a cell phone.
Merus: “…”
“Thanks.” Merus hesitated, reaching out to take it.
“It’s not ringing.” Broly looked at the communicator, shaking his head.
Merus wiped his sweat, speechless.
By phone, I meant… never mind.
“You’re lying,” Broly stared unblinkingly at Merus.
Merus gave up, leaving the phone and heading to his room, quickly activating his staff’s crystal ball.
As expected, Cus was calling.
Good choice to take it in private.
Merus decided never to lie again.
I can’t even talk to Ren face-to-face while holding the staff.
I feel like I betrayed our friendship…
“Cus,” Merus initiated the video call.
“Merus, are you almost here?” Cus asked.
“Yes, Cus, about 20 minutes left,” Merus confirmed.
“Did you specifically take the call in your room?” Cus noticed the enclosed space, puzzled.
“Yes,” Merus nodded.
“So that’s why it took so long for you to answer,” Cus noted.
“Yes,” Merus replied. “I guessed it might be you, so I took it in private.”
“No need for that much trouble,” Cus said. “Only we angels can see the crystal ball. Just be discreet in conversation, even if Ren is nearby, it wouldn’t be an issue.”
“No, Cus, Ren can see the crystal ball,” Merus corrected.
“What? He can see it?” Cus was shocked.
“Yes,” Merus nodded.
“That’s quite extraordinary,” Cus marveled, batting her long eyelashes. “No wonder the Grand Priest wants him to train with me.”
“Yes…” Merus replied, unable to hide his curiosity. “Is this why you called?”
“Almost missed the important part,” Cus said, amused.
“Important part?” Merus was confused.
“Vados just visited me. Quite a headache,” Cus sighed.
Merus: “…”
“What? Vados was with you?” Merus forced a bitter smile.
“Not the main point,” Cus sighed again.
Merus was puzzled.
What’s not the main point?
Cus, you’re setting me up…
I already feel guilty for lying.
“I sent her away,” Cus added.
“Oh…” Merus relaxed. “Isn’t that good? But… will she come back?”
“No, I sent her in the opposite direction… there’s an 89% chance she’ll run into you,” Cus blinked, analyzing.
Merus: “…”
89% chance…
That’s high.
“So, I’m contacting you to advise… best to greet her quickly and move on,” Cus suggested, whispering. “She might be too busy with the new fruit to chat, there’s a 35% chance she won’t bother you.”
“I understand, Cus,” Merus sighed.
I’ll have to take it as it comes.
“Good luck,” Cus ended the call.
…
Outside the room, Ren sat bored, feeling restless.
Broly was also anxious, jumping around.
After a month on the spaceship, they were understandably bored.
Suddenly, Ren sensed a powerful angelic presence approaching rapidly.
Who’s that?
Ren was surprised, standing up.
Could Vados come to meet me?
Such special treatment.
Ren clearly sensed the powerful angelic presence approaching at high speed, not more than 10 seconds away.
“Clang!”
Ren entered the control room, stopping the spaceship.
“Broly, open the door,” Ren instructed.
“No!” Broly refused flatly.
Ren: “???”
Ren was confused.
Broly always listened to me.
Why refuse now?
Ren turned to look at Broly.
“Easy to get thrown,” Broly pointed to his head.
Ren suddenly remembered how Broly got thrown out last time.
Broly must have a psychological shadow now.
“Never mind.” Ren had no time to argue, quickly opening the hatch and flying out.
Broly hesitated but, seeing no danger outside, excitedly followed.
Finally, some fresh air.
After a month cooped up in the spaceship.
Broly scanned the area, targeting a nearby planet, and gathering energy in his mouth.
“What are you doing?” Ren asked.
Broly swallowed the energy, pointing to the planet, mimicking tearing it apart.
“When I become a true angel, I’ll find you a suitable universe to destroy,” Ren smiled.
Broly’s eyes brightened with anticipation.
At that moment, a brilliant light streaked through the sky.
“Hey, over here,” Ren waved, eyes fixed on the approaching angel.
Though far away, Ren recognized the beautiful angel he longed to meet.
Her name was Vados.
A ponytailed beauty.
“Swish!”
Vados arrived, bringing a faint fragrance.
Ren took a deep breath, savoring the sweet scent.
Angels smell so good. This isn’t like human women’s perfume; it must be their natural scent.
“Excuse me, young one, do you need something?” Vados asked, looking curiously at Ren.
Ren: “…”
Who are you calling young?
“Are you looking for your mother?” Vados asked again.
Ren was speechless.
“Aren’t you here to pick me up?” Ren asked directly.
Vados: “???”
They were on completely different wavelengths.
“Ah, I need to get to a planet to try some new fruit, can’t chat,” Vados said, preparing to leave.
“Wait!” Ren quickly lunged forward, hugging Vados tightly.
Vados: “…”
I forgot to dodge. Maybe because he’s a kid?
“I want to try the fruit too,” Ren said.
“Alright,” Vados agreed after thinking it over.
A kid can’t eat much anyway.
“I want some too,” Broly said, feeling left out.
“Let’s go together then,” Vados nodded.
Just then, Merus hurriedly flew out of the spaceship.
Seeing Vados and Ren embracing, Merus felt a mix of emotions.
Ren, you sure know how to act young!
“Oh my, isn’t this Merus?” Vados said, surprised.
“Sister Vados,” Merus greeted with a bow.
“Merus, what brings you here?” Vados asked curiously.
Merus felt the situation becoming awkward.
Ren also looked at Merus, remaining silent.
Didn’t you say everything was arranged?
Why does Vados seem clueless?
“Ah, I’m here to bring Ren for training,” Merus whispered to Vados, “on the Grand Priest’s orders.”
However, Merus noticed Ren listening closely.
Merus was speechless.
“Ah, the Grand Priest’s orders? Training where?” Vados raised an eyebrow.
“Isn’t it with you? Your father said you would personally guide me,” Ren interjected.
Vados blinked, looking between Ren and Merus.
“Is this true, Merus?” Vados asked, “Angels shouldn’t lie.”
Merus felt guilty.
“Merus, what’s going on? I thought we were friends!” Ren said seriously.
Merus felt even guiltier.
“Me too,” Broly added.
Merus ignored Broly, finally admitting, “I’m sorry, Ren, I lied to you!”
“I knew it…” Ren sighed, not blaming Merus. “Explain.”
“This isn’t Universe 6; it’s Universe 10. I was supposed to take you to Cus,” Merus confessed.
Better to be honest now.
Immediately, Merus felt a weight lifted.
“Wait, Merus… you told this child it’s Universe 6?” Vados realized.
“Sorry, Ren, Sister Vados,” Merus apologized sincerely, bowing.
“And me,” Broly pointed to himself, demanding an apology.
Merus ignored Broly.
Why are you everywhere?
“Merus, you even defied the Grand Priest’s orders… impressive courage,” Vados remarked.
“No, the Grand Priest wanted me to take Ren to Cus,” Merus explained.
Vados was confused.
“And what’s that got to do with Universe 6?” Vados asked, puzzled.
“Ren said 6 is his lucky number, so he wanted to go to Universe 6 to train with Sister Vados,” Merus explained. “Cus suggested pretending Universe 10 is Universe 6 since Ren didn’t know the difference. By the time he realized, he’d be settled in Universe 10.”
Vados: “…”
“No wonder Cus seemed off,” Vados understood.
“So…” Merus was unsure what to do next.
Who should train Ren?
I don’t want to upset anyone.
“Merus, you can leave it to me. I’ll handle it with Sister Cus,” Vados said with a smile.
“Really? Great,” Merus was relieved to pass the responsibility.
I felt guilty deceiving Ren.
Time to focus on my training.
“I need to go back, Ren. Train hard and become a true angel,” Merus extended his hand.
“You too, Merus. I might become an angel before you,” Ren joked.
Merus: “…”
“That’s unlikely,” Merus said confidently. “My starting point is higher.”
“I’ll surpass you, Merus,” Ren encouraged.
Merus was speechless.
This was supposed to encourage you, not the other way around.
Merus turned to Broly. “Broly, I hope you become a God of Destruction soon.”
Broly had heard about the God of Destruction from Ren and Merus. He nodded seriously.
“Let’s do it!” Merus extended his hand.
“Let’s,” Broly nodded.
“Goodbye, Vados, Ren, Broly,” Merus waved, entering the spaceship.
“Robot,” Broly reminded.
“I know,” Merus sighed.
Goodbye ceremony ruined by a robot.
Merus pushed the robot out, waving to the group.
“Zoom!”
The spaceship took off quickly.
Only Ren, Vados, Broly, and the robot remained.
Vados studied the robot, finding it familiar.
“This style… looks like Universe 3’s God of Destruction, Mosco,” Vados noted.
“Uh, it’s his son’s robot,” Ren admitted.
“Ah, that explains it,” Vados nodded. “So, you’re friends with Mosco’s son?”
“No,” Ren shook his head.
“A trophy!” Broly pointed to the robot.
Vados: “…”
“What did you do to him?” Vados asked, looking at Broly.
Broly mimicked tearing someone apart.
Vados facepalmed.
“So, is Broly to be a God of Destruction?” Vados asked.
“Since I’ll be a true angel, I need a God of Destruction,” Ren smiled.
Vados was silent.
You’re planning far ahead.
Finding a God of Destruction at such a young age?
“Ren, do you want to train with Cus or with me in Universe 6?” Vados asked.
“My dream girl is a beautiful girl with a ponytail,” Ren said.
Vados blushed.
This kid sure knows how to talk.
“Let’s go to Universe 6,” Vados agreed. “I assure you, my training won’t be inferior to Cus’s.”
“I trust you!” Ren nodded firmly.
“Such a charming kid,” Vados laughed, motioning. “Let’s go…”
Ren didn’t hesitate, jumping on Vados’s back and hugging her tightly.
Vados: “…”
You’re really not shy.
Broly scratched his head, feeling left out.
What about me?
“Use the robot for now,” Ren said, pointing to it.
Broly’s eyes shone with gratitude, quickly entering the robot.
“Bang!”
Broly hit his head on the robot’s belly, wincing.
Ren used his angelic power to open the robot’s hatch.
“Click!”
The hatch opened.
Broly, rubbing his head, climbed inside.
“Clang!”
The hatch closed.
Broly tested the robot, excited by the power boost.
“Before heading to Universe 6, let’s stop for some fruit. It’s a type we don’t have,” Vados told Ren.
Ren nodded, hugging Vados tighter.
His tail wrapped around her waist.
Vados let it slide, considering his age.
“Whoosh!”
Vados’s body glowed like a star.
She extended her power to Broly in the robot.
“Zoom!”
Vados took off with Ren and Broly, leaving a brilliant trail.
“Whoa!” Broly was amazed by the speed.
In a few minutes, they caught up with Merus’s spaceship.
“Goodbye, Merus,” Ren waved.
Merus: “…”
Merus waved back, relieved.
Merus took a deep breath, making a tough decision.
“Clang!”
Merus activated his staff, contacting Cus.
“Merus, did you meet Vados?” Cus asked.
“Yes,” Merus nodded.
“What did she say?” Cus inquired.
“She knows everything. Vados took Ren,” Merus reported.
Cus was speechless.
After a moment of silence.
“So, Vados took my student in my universe? Is that it?” Cus asked.
“Uh… I just remembered, I need to contact the Galactic Patrol Headquarters. Sorry, Cus,” Merus ended the call.
Merus felt a weight lifted.
Let them sort it out.
I’ll focus on my training.
Can’t let a human outpace me.
Wait… should I find a God of Destruction?
Who would be suitable?
Yes, I have someone in mind!
Majin Buu!
Maybe I can train him as my God of Destruction.
Ren’s idea of having a powerful subordinate is appealing.
Majin Buu is the best candidate in Universe 7.
Who else?
But I heard Buu is evil and uncontrollable.
I’ll try.
Broly loses control too, but Ren manages.
I can be patient with Buu.
Decision made!
Merus checked the spaceship’s speed, feeling it was too slow.
Should I fly back myself?
…
After about 10 minutes.
Vados landed with Ren and Broly on a purple planet.
Most plants were purple; the sky and sea were yellowish.
Near the sea grew strange plants with oval fruits.
Many had fallen, lying on the purple ground.
“Cus mentioned these fruits. Supposed to be delicious,” Vados licked her lips, looking like a foodie.
Ren: “…”
Aren’t these colored coconuts?
No coconuts in Universe 6?
Deprived of real food, Broly eagerly grabbed a coconut, biting into it.
“Crunch!”
The coconut shell cracked in his mouth.
Broly chewed, looking confused.
Not tasty.
“Not good?” Vados was surprised.
“Maybe drink the juice?” Ren suggested, poking a hole in the coconut.
He dipped a finger in the juice, offering it to Vados.
“You try.”
“I have my
own hand,” Vados retorted, poking a hole in another coconut.
She tasted the juice.
“Oh my…” Vados’s eyebrows danced with delight.
“Let me try,” Ren grabbed Vados’s finger, tasting the juice.
Vados: “…”
“Yours is sweeter,” Ren compared, tasting his own.
“Try it.”
He offered his finger to Vados.
Vados didn’t want to argue.
Just a kid.
Broly, mimicking Ren, poked a hole in a coconut, tasting the juice.
“Mm?” Broly’s eyes lit up, savoring the flavor.
He turned the coconut, drinking the juice.
Vados did the same, tipping the coconut to drink.
Juice dribbled from Vados’s mouth, staining her clothes.
Ren, seeing this, had wild thoughts.
“Tasty,” Vados licked her lips, enjoying the drink.
“Drink slowly,” Ren flew up, wiping her mouth.
Vados: “…”
What now?
Her skin was soft and elastic, incredibly smooth.
Ren wondered what angel skin was made of.
So real.
Merus said angels were formed from angelic power.
Is Vados made of that?
Amazing.
Ren’s thoughts wandered.
If I press too hard, will she fall apart?
Stop thinking…
Such a brutal thought.
