Dragon Ball Xenoverse - Chapter 11
In his room in the Time City, Pica reflected on Trunks’ words.
“That mysterious man was once a high-ranking Time Patroller in our Time City. He saved multiple planets from destruction. At the time, he was our pride. If it weren’t for that incident, he would never have betrayed us,” Trunks said regretfully.
“Lord Takarus was my role model back then. I became a Time Patroller because of him,” Fei Li added, looking pained. “Takarus was always kind and never lost his temper. He was admired by all of us pre-Time Patrollers.”
“Is Takarus really as you say? Why did I sense a cold, evil aura from him?” Pica asked, puzzled.
“Takarus, like me, is a Saiyan. However, he and I are hybrids, unlike you who are a pure Saiyan,” Trunks explained, waving his hand. A holographic table appeared, displaying Takarus’s history.
“From his profile, he seems kind-hearted. What could have changed him so drastically?” Pica inquired.
Fei Li’s expression darkened. “He fell in love with a woman he shouldn’t have.”
Trunks sighed, “That woman was a princess from the Demon Realm, the daughter of Dabura.”
“What?”
“When Takarus was on a mission to another planet, she disguised herself as a native. The planet’s inhabitants were massacred by time pirates. Over time, she fell in love with Takarus, who was strong and cheerful. Takarus reciprocated her feelings…” Trunks paused, his face troubled.
“Why did you stop?” Pica was intrigued, finding the story surprisingly typical yet captivating.
“On their wedding day, the high council of Time City, those self-righteous bastards,” Trunks slammed the table, “They thought Takarus had betrayed us by consorting with the Demon Realm. They killed his entire family without a word, and the demon princess was also killed while trying to save Takarus.”
Trunks continued, “In his rage, Takarus broke through his limits, becoming a Super Saiyan Second Grade. He killed all the council members, leaving none alive.”
“After he left, the Supreme Kai of Time summoned me to Time City, making me the manager,” Trunks said.
“After those high council members died, their dark deeds were exposed. We, the Time Patrollers, loathe them,” Fei Li told Pica.
Lying in bed, Pica mulled over Trunks and Fei Li’s words. He thought Takarus is quite pitiful, but he truly wanted to kill me in the time tunnel. I’ll definitely settle this score with you, Takarus… wait for it.
The night passed uneventfully.
The next morning, before dawn, Pica arrived at the Time City Training Center, established by Trunks. The center had fifty-five floors. The first thirty-five floors had thirteen training rooms each. From the thirty-sixth floor, the number of rooms gradually decreased. Each training room had a gravity adjustment system, with a maximum of five hundred times gravity.
The first twenty floors were for pre-Time Patrollers, with gravity up to ten times. Floors twenty-one to thirty-five were for junior Time Patrollers, with up to one hundred fifty times gravity. Intermediate Time Patrollers trained on floors thirty-six to forty-five, with gravity up to three hundred times. Senior Time Patrollers trained on floors forty-six to fifty, with gravity up to five hundred times. Only senior Time Patrollers knew what was above the fiftieth floor.
As a newly minted junior Time Patroller, Pica took the elevator to the twentieth floor.
“Hello, sir. How can I assist you?” A maid-dressed girl greeted him with a smile.
Pica sensed no life in the girl, as if she were a corpse, and asked, “Who are you?”
“I am the AT-521 model robot, codename Alice, the manager here. How can I assist you?” Alice replied.
“I’d like to open a junior training room.”
“Please present your Time Patroller ID.”
Pica handed his ID to Alice. She scanned it and said, “Mr. Pica, please follow me.”
Alice led Pica to a room labeled 2012. “Mr. Pica, this is training room 2012. Please scan your ID to access it.”
“Thank you…”
After sending Alice away, Pica opened the door and looked around the training room. “Not bad for training,” he remarked. If Trunks were here, he would have coughed up blood. This was a place for training, not enjoyment.
“Let’s start with ten times gravity. I should be able to handle it,” Pica adjusted the gravity. He felt slightly heavier but managed to throw a few punches. “Still too easy, let’s try thirty times.”
A strong gravitational force pulled at him. Pica grunted, feeling the pull on every muscle, vein, and cell in his body.
“Bang!” He fell to one knee, hands on the ground, gritting his teeth, face flushed, veins bulging.
Gathering his ki, Pica slowly stood up, his legs trembling.
“Rise!—”
With a low growl, Pica stood, muscles bulging against his clothes. Sweat poured down his face.
He took heavy steps around the room, each step echoing loudly.
Time flew by, and three days passed in a blink.
In the training room, Pica practiced a set of “Hung Gar”…
