Dragon Ball Xenoverse - Chapter 12
After three days, Pica had adapted to 30 times gravity, although he was still far from the monstrous Son Goku, who had adapted to 100 times gravity in five days, skyrocketing his battle power to 180,000. Truly, Pica couldn’t compare to the freakish Goku.
Pica practiced his stances, his movements resembling a tiger and crane, each punch creating sonic booms. He was practicing the Tiger Crane Double Form Fist from Hong Fist.
Tiger Crane Double Form Fist is a type of Southern Fist, reportedly adapted by Lin Shiyong combining Hong Fist and Buddhist Fist. It’s known as “Hong Head, Buddhist Tail.”
This form mimics the tiger and crane. It integrates the aggressive attacks of Buddhist Fist with the tight defense of Hong Fist. Later, Wong Fei-hung combined various techniques to create it. The form includes the tiger’s “strength” and “form” and the crane’s “appearance.” The tiger form trains energy and strength, with powerful and intimidating movements, while the crane form trains precision and spirit, with agile and swift movements, achieving a state of calm and focus.
In the final move, Pica punched out, producing a sound like a tiger’s roar and a crane’s cry.
“Whew—” Pica wiped the sweat from his forehead and turned off the gravity in the room. He kicked the air, saying, “My current strength far surpasses my former self.”
Pica had trained in the gravity chamber for three full days. He then turned on the old scouter given to him by Trunks (it’s strange how the son of a genius scientist like Bulma would give such a lousy scouter).
“Beep—”
The scouter on Pica’s face showed his battle power as 22,000. “An increase of 12,000 in three days. Gravity chambers are indeed essential for early Saiyan training! I must ask Trunks for a portable gravity device later.”
“Welcome back next time!” Alice, with a professional smile, saw Pica off.
“Sigh… These few days of training were so dull! Is there anything to do?” Pica wondered, walking with his hands behind his head. He noticed a crowd in front of a bulletin board, mostly consisting of Time Patrollers.
Hao Cheng was an ordinary resident of Time City. Today, his daughter joined the trainee Time Patrollers, and he was overjoyed, planning to cook a feast to reward his beloved daughter. However, a handsome young man stopped him, asking questions.
“What’s going on? Why are there so many people over there?” Pica asked, puzzled.
Hao Cheng gave Pica a condescending look. “Are you even from Time City? How can you not know this?”
“…”
“Since I’m in a good mood, I’ll kindly tell you,” Hao Cheng said dismissively. “In a week, Time City will hold the World Martial Arts Tournament. Both Time Patrollers and ordinary residents can participate, but senior Time Patrollers are not allowed. The rewards for this tournament are very generous!”
“What are the rewards?” Pica asked.
“Geez, you’re annoying. I have things to do, figure it out yourself,” Hao Cheng snapped and walked away, ignoring Pica.
Pica squeezed into the crowd and looked at the bulletin board, which read:
“Dear members of Time City, to enrich your leisure life, Time City will host the 15th ‘World Martial Arts Tournament of Time City.’ The rules are as follows:
1. Before the match, staff will beat the drums to signal the start of the match.
2. No weapons or external forces are allowed during the match.
3. Do not attack the opponent’s eyes or sensitive areas.
4. Falling out of bounds, conceding, or being knocked down counts as a loss. ‘Knocked down’ means unable to get up within 10 seconds.
5. Disappearing or falling off the stage also counts as a loss.
6. Killing the opponent results in disqualification.
7. Injured contestants will be taken to the nearby treatment center.
8. Attacking the audience results in disqualification.
The rewards are as follows:
Champion: Training from the Supreme Kai of Time, and 10 million PT.
Runner-up: Training from Trunks, and 5 million PT.
Third place: Gravity wristband—crafted by Trunks, adjustable to 200 times gravity, and 2 million PT.
Top eight: Ten senzu beans—restore stamina, keep you full for ten days, and 500,000 PT.
P.S. We hope everyone will enthusiastically participate. Please register at the venue—Supreme Kai of Time.”
Pica’s eyes lit up at the gravity wristband. He was just thinking of asking Trunks for one, and now it was a tournament prize! It could adjust up to 200 times gravity, perfect timing.
Pica rushed to the registration point at the World Martial Arts Tournament venue in Time Square.
There was a long line at the registration point. “Wow, so many people?”
Pica joined the end of the line, listening to the conversations around him.
“Huck, Harleen, the rewards for this tournament are amazing! Even the Supreme Kai of Time will personally train the champion. I don’t think I stand a chance,” a man named Feng Fei sighed.
“Feng Fei, not to be rude, but you participate every three years and always get eliminated in the preliminaries,” Huck and Harleen mocked.
“This time, I’ll make it to the top eight,” Feng Fei retorted, blushing.
“Sure, sure, you definitely will this time,” Huck and Harleen replied, clearly unconvinced.
“You… you guys…”
The line moved quickly, and it was soon Pica’s turn. The receptionist was an adorable girl with a sweet smile that left Pica momentarily dazed.
“Sir?” The receptionist raised her voice, noticing Pica’s lack of reaction. “Sir…”
“Ah!” Pica snapped out of it.
“Please show your identification.”
“Oh, okay.”
“Haha…” Laughter erupted from behind Pica, even the receptionist covered her mouth, giggling.
“Here.” Pica handed over his ID, blushing. He thought to himself: I’m almost thirty (before I crossed over), how could I make such a fool of myself? It’s not like I haven’t seen a woman before. Maybe I should find a partner to solve my physiological needs.
The receptionist scanned Pica’s ID, returned it with a sweet smile, and said, “Sir, you have successfully registered. Please come to the tournament in a week.”
“Thanks.” Pica took his ID, thinking: She’s so cute, her scent still lingers on the ID…
“Pica, you’re participating too?” came Fei Li’s cold voice from behind.
“Ah, Fei Li! Long time no see, how have you been?” Pica replied cheerfully.
“Not bad. This time, I will defeat you,” Fei Li said, eyes full of determination.
“Sure, but I won’t lose,” Pica said confidently.
The crowd around them gasped, “Isn’t that Ice Assassin Fei Li…”
