Dragon Ball Xenoverse - Chapter 14
###
“Who is this contestant…?” the host asked, puzzled, as Pica suddenly appeared in the arena.
“My name is Pica.”
“The match begins…”
“Who is he? How can he be so bold? Doesn’t he value his life?” The audience whispered among themselves. They had never seen Pica before and assumed he was just an ordinary resident of Time City.
“Hey, kid, this isn’t a place for you. You should go home and train for a few more years before coming back!” Pica taunted Alex.
“What did you say?” Alex’s face darkened as he heard Pica’s mockery, his body igniting with white flames.
“Hah…”
Alex charged forward, aiming a punch at Pica’s face. Pica slightly sidestepped, effortlessly dodging Alex’s increasingly fierce attacks.
Lucia, watching from the sidelines, frowned. She knew her brother’s greatest flaw was his quick temper.
On stage, Alex used all his strength with each punch but couldn’t land a single hit on Pica. His movements became increasingly erratic until he launched a knee strike at Pica.
“Smack.”
Pica easily caught Alex’s knee with one hand and pushed him back, causing Alex to spin three times in the air before landing.
“Tap.”
Alex’s toe dug into the ground, creating a small pit as he swiftly punched at Pica.
Pica took a slight step back and sidestepped, letting Alex pass by, exposing his back. Pica extended his hand and launched a blue energy blast at Alex’s back.
“Bang!” Alex crashed to the ground, a hole burned through his combat suit and a patch of his back scorched.
Lucia glared at Pica from the sidelines, her eyes practically spitting fire.
“Kid, I’m done warming up. The game’s over. If you don’t go all out now, you’ll lose,” Pica whispered to Alex, his tone dripping with condescension.
“You… Ah!” Alex roared, his energy reaching its peak as he kicked out with all his might.
Pica instinctively blocked the kick but was forced back, leaving two trails in the ground. He laughed, “Now that’s more like it. Hah!!”
Pica’s body ignited with white flames, causing a stir among the audience.
“What? His combat power is 20,000? How is that possible? We’ve never heard of anyone like him here!”
Pica smiled, “Kid, I hope you give me a good fight this time!”
With that, Pica lunged forward, delivering a side kick. “Bang!” Alex blocked the kick with his forearm.
Seeing this, Pica quickly followed up with another kick, which Alex couldn’t react to in time. The kick landed on Alex’s waist, sending him flying.
As he flew out of the arena, Alex fired an energy blast at the protective shield to stop his fall.
“Ah!!”
Alex then shot a series of energy blasts.
“Pop pop pop,” Pica easily deflected all the blasts with one hand.
“Come on, try harder. This is too light.” Pica dodged another punch from Alex, lightly touching Alex’s stomach with his index finger before suddenly driving his pinky finger into it.
“Bang.”
Alex flew backward, straight out of the arena.
“I won’t lose!” Alex thought determinedly, using energy blasts to propel himself back into the arena, where he spun three times before landing.
“Whoo…” Alex panted heavily, glaring at Pica as if his eyes could kill.
“What’s wrong? Do you still have the strength to fight me?” Pica smiled faintly, completely ignoring Alex’s murderous glare.
“You’re the first to make me go all out,” Alex said, legs slightly apart, fists clenched at his waist.
“Ah…”
Alex roared as his muscles began to swell, his energy surging dramatically.
“Sigh… so this is it. Although…” Before Pica could finish, Alex stomped the ground, charging at Pica.
“Wow, Alex’s combat power increased by half!” The audience exclaimed in surprise. Only Fei Li and Lucia frowned, watching Alex intently.
On stage, Alex’s attacks were effortlessly blocked by Pica, seemingly more easily than before.
Pica sped up, attacking Alex’s vital points: the waist, back, and chest, before delivering a side punch to Alex’s chest.
“Ugh…” Alex groaned, falling to his knees, his mouth open in a silent scream.
“Do you know what your mistake was?” Pica looked down at Alex, saying calmly, “Your fatal mistake was relying too much on your energy, ignoring your overall coordination. You sacrificed speed and coordination for power, which was your biggest error. But… you’ve already reached this level at such a young age, which is impressive. With more effort, you can improve even more.”
“Referee, he can’t fight anymore,” Pica said, turning to the referee.
“Oh, right. Counting down: ten, nine… two, one. Alex is unable to continue. Medical team.” The referee waved his hand, and two medics carried Alex away on a stretcher.
“Swish.”
Fei Li appeared before Pica, saying coldly, “Next, it’s me!”
“The next contestant is our very own ‘Ice Assassin’ Fei Li! Though he’s only a junior Time Patroller, his power rivals that of a mid-level Patroller!” The referee announced loudly.
“Who knew you were so popular?” Pica said, enviously eyeing the cheering audience.
“Stop talking. Fight.” Fei Li’s face remained expressionless.
“Alright, as you wish.” Pica assumed a Wing Chun stance.
“Three times—Kaioken!!” Fei Li’s body burned with crimson flames as he charged at Pica. Pica blocked his fierce attacks, thinking: How has this guy improved so much in such a short time…
Pica swatted Fei Li back, excitedly saying, “I didn’t expect you to get so strong so quickly. I’m absolutely shocked!”
