Dragon Ball Xenoverse - Chapter 25
##
“Why is this guy here?” Lucia, exerting all her strength to maintain the protective barrier, thought as she saw Pica flying over from where Master Roshi and the others were.
Fei Li also noticed Pica and remembered that he should be recovering in the hospital, not here.
“Hmm?” Pica suddenly noticed a blond man wearing sunglasses and holding a microphone. He was clearly the referee for this match.
“Oh, no!” Pica smacked his forehead and flew toward the referee.
“Hey, I’m talking to you! Why aren’t you running? It’s dangerous here!”
“Are you talking to me?” the referee asked, pointing at his nose in confusion.
“Who else would I be talking to?”
The referee suddenly straightened up and said to Pica, “Three years, I’ve waited three years for this World Martial Arts Tournament. I have to preside over this match. It can’t be the first one to have an exception under my watch.”
“…” Pica was at a loss for words. If anyone in Dragon Ball had the most dedication, it was this referee.
Pica put his fist to his mouth, stood beside the referee, and said, “I have an idea!”
The referee looked at Pica expectantly.
“You need to leave!!”
Pica grabbed the referee by his clothes and threw him toward the horizon. He placed a small energy field around the referee to ensure he would land safely.
“I’ll be back!!” the referee shouted as he disappeared into the distance.
Pica walked over to the ring and said to Fei Li, “You two should drop the protective barrier. It’s draining your energy, and it won’t hold much longer.”
The barrier was already showing multiple cracks, ready to shatter at any moment.
They both withdrew their energy. Lucia instantly appeared in front of Pica, complaining, “We can handle this mission ourselves. We don’t need your interference.”
“Hmph, interference? If you two could complete the mission, Trunks wouldn’t have sent me here. I was supposed to be resting, but you two ruined it. I’m furious!” Pica glared at Lucia, filled with anger.
“Enough talking, die!!”
A black Kamehameha wave shot toward the three of them.
“Scatter!”
The three of them flew in different directions, avoiding the wave that shattered the ground, sending debris flying.
Fei Li’s body was surrounded by red energy, clearly using the Kaio-ken. Lucia floated in the air, her eyes glowing blue, stopping the debris in mid-air before letting it fall. Pica was surrounded by nine small blue energy balls, which quickly rotated around him, forming a sphere that ground the debris into dust.
As Pica landed, he clasped his hands together, and the nine energy balls spun between them before he thrust his hands forward, sending the balls toward Goku in the ring.
Goku sneered evilly and reached out to deflect the energy balls.
Pica smirked and snapped his fingers. The nine balls stopped mid-air, spinning rapidly, then expanded to ten meters in diameter, surrounding Goku and Piccolo.
“Boom—”
Nine loud explosions filled the air with smoke. From the smoke emerged Goku and Piccolo, unscathed except for their torn clothes and some dust.
Three more figures flew out of the smoke, Pica leading the charge with Lucia and Fei Li behind him, facing off against Goku and Piccolo.
“You two handle Piccolo. Goku is mine,” Pica said, flying toward Goku.
“You!” Lucia started to chase after Pica, but Fei Li stopped her.
Fei Li shook his head, watching Pica confront Goku. “Piccolo.”
The wind blew softly, and the rain fell gently. The battle was imminent.
Pica raised his left hand, his right hand positioned defensively by his face, staring calmly at Goku. Goku took his usual fighting stance.
Goku struck first, his fist igniting with black flames as it cut through the air toward Pica. Pica sidestepped and kicked at Goku.
True to form, Goku caught Pica’s leg before it landed and flung him aside, following up with a kick to Pica’s stomach, sending him hurtling toward the ground.
“Boom—”
Pica crashed into the ground, creating a crater. He kicked Goku away and performed a Thomas flare, landing in a crouch while clutching his stomach.
“Cough, spit.” Pica spat out blood and stood up, his body enveloped in red energy. He lunged at Goku with a flying knee to the stomach, then swung both fists down onto Goku’s back.
As Goku fell, he countered with a back kick, striking Pica’s crossed arms.
Goku gathered a blue Kamehameha wave in his foot, blasting it at the ground to propel himself toward Pica.
“Bang, bang, bang.”
In an instant, Pica and Goku had exchanged thirty blows without a clear victor. Suddenly, Goku grabbed Pica by the tail, rendering him powerless and dangling in mid-air as Goku kicked him repeatedly.
Struggling, Pica fired an energy beam at his own tail, severing it to free himself. He clutched his tail, detached it completely, and praised Goku, “Impressive. Your power matches my five-fold Kaio-ken.”
Goku grinned wickedly, his energy continuing to rise.
“Ah! Ten-fold Kaio-ken!!” The red energy around Pica exploded, shooting up from his feet like jets.
Pica suddenly appeared behind Goku, locking his right arm around Goku’s neck and his legs around Goku’s legs, immobilizing him.
Goku tried to pry Pica’s arm loose but couldn’t.
Using all his strength, Goku finally managed to pull Pica’s arm away slightly and bit down hard.
“Ah!!” Pica screamed, releasing Goku and clutching his arm.
“Are you a dog? We’re fighting, and you bite! It hurts…”
Pica rubbed his arm, and while he was distracted, Goku appeared behind him and locked his arm around Pica’s neck.
“Ugh…” Pica gasped for breath, his face turning red. Thinking quickly, he reached back and tickled Goku.
“Hahaha…” Goku laughed uncontrollably, his grip weakening, allowing Pica to escape.
