Dragon Ball Xenoverse - Chapter 8
Above Kami’s Lookout, two figures clashed fiercely. Punch after punch, the battle was intense.
The two fighters looked strikingly similar, both dressed in pure blue martial arts uniforms, white gloves, and black boots. However, one had lifeless eyes and a pale complexion.
“Kami-sama, Pica has only been here for a week, yet he’s already fighting the combat doll to a standstill,” Mr. Popo said in amazement.
“Yes, Pica has a natural talent for combat. Fortunately, after spending time with him, I know he poses no threat to Earth. On the contrary, he is quite kind,” Kami replied.
Three days earlier, in the afternoon.
“Pica-san, your power is too great for Kami and me to spar with you. So I need a strand of your hair,” Mr. Popo said to Pica.
“Sure, go ahead.” Pica plucked a hair from his head, wincing slightly, and handed it to Mr. Popo. The next day, Mr. Popo brought a plaster cast of Pica to him.
“Pica-san, this is a combat doll that Kami and I created. It has the same power as you. For the next while, it will be your training partner. Its energy should last about a month,” Mr. Popo explained.
“Oh, a combat doll. I remember this from the original story. It gave young Goku quite a hard time,” Pica thought.
Pica examined the doll closely, touching and poking it.
“Is this really a doll? It feels so real,” Pica exclaimed. If it weren’t for the cold skin and lifeless eyes, he would have thought it was a real person.
“This combat doll was made using mud from the Yellow Springs and a small bottle of Kami’s Water, which takes a hundred years to condense in our temple. These, combined with some rare materials, created this combat doll,” Mr. Popo explained.
“Oh!” Pica nodded, realizing how complicated it was to make such a thing.
“Now, Pica-san, follow me. I’m afraid this place can’t withstand your attacks, so Kami hopes you’ll fight in the sky to avoid damaging the temple,” Mr. Popo said.
“Sure.” Pica nodded, stepping outside and flying into the sky above the temple.
Mr. Popo tapped the combat doll, which flew up to join Pica. “Pica-san, although the doll has the same power as you, it can utilize 120% of your combat ability. Be careful.”
“Got it.” Pica glared at the combat doll, snorting, “120% of my combat ability, huh?”
With a snort, Pica ignited his white aura and charged at the doll.
The combat doll assumed a Wing Chun stance. As Pica closed in, it struck Pica in the stomach, creating a sonic boom.
“So strong!” was Pica’s last thought before blacking out.
Returning to the present battlefield.
“Flowing Ki Bomb!” Pica shouted, pushing out streams of golden ki blasts with both hands.
The combat doll spread its limbs wide, forming a golden shield around its body, deflecting Pica’s ki blasts.
The doll clasped its hands together, forming a blue-white energy ball at its palms, which enveloped its hands. The doll’s power surged dramatically.
“What?” Pica was shocked. He had only come up with this move last night, a modified version of the Kamehameha but more suited to him.
He called it the Death Piercing Cannon, a technique with immense penetrating power.
“Since that’s how it is… Death… Piercing… Cannon!” Pica yelled, forming a blue-white ki ball in his hands. He compressed and recharged it repeatedly.
The doll launched its Death Piercing Cannon, a massive twenty-meter-wide ki ball trailing a long tail, hurtling towards Pica.
“Hurry up!” Pica urged, the ki ball in his hands spinning rapidly. As the doll’s attack neared, he finally launched his own.
The recoil pushed Pica back dozens of meters.
The two ki balls collided in mid-air, creating a powerful shockwave. Kami drove his staff into the temple ground to avoid being blown away, while Mr. Popo clung to a stone pillar. The flowers and plants Mr. Popo had meticulously tended were uprooted, and even sturdy trees were torn out by the force.
“Ah!!” Pica shouted, enlarging his Death Piercing Cannon, which engulfed the combat doll.
“Wow! Finally won one,” Pica said, collapsing on the temple floor, gasping for breath.
Mr. Popo approached with a lump of mud, saying, “Pica, you didn’t win. The combat doll’s energy was depleted, so it couldn’t sustain its attack.”
“Uh…” Pica stared at Mr. Popo, “No way!”
A cry of despair echoed through Kami’s Lookout.
Smack, smack!!
“Ah, I’m so full,” Pica patted his stomach, thinking about how his appetite had increased exponentially since becoming a Saiyan, eating hundreds of times more than before.
“Mr. Popo, that combat doll was incredibly strong. Without it, I wouldn’t have made such progress. In this week, my control over ki has improved significantly. I can now use 80% of my power, though not perfectly. Thank you.”
“You’re welcome,” Mr. Popo smiled.
“Pica, we can’t make another combat doll. The materials were almost entirely destroyed by you. So, we will arrange for you to continue your training elsewhere,” Kami said, entering the temple.
After eating, Pica followed Kami to a room with a strange machine.
“Pica, this is where you’ll train from now on. This machine can take you to other planets for training,” Kami explained.
