I Will Become Hokage in One Piece - Chapter 196
Chapter 196: Arrival of Whitebeard
The wind howled, and the entire Marineford became eerily quiet as the war was about to begin.
On the execution platform, Sengoku held a Den Den Mushi and, through a loudspeaker, made his voice resonate throughout Marineford, breaking the silence as he said, “First, there’s something I want to convey to all of you!”
All the Marines turned their attention to him, and Sengoku continued, “Regarding the death of Portgas D. Ace here, it holds significant meaning for the world.”
“He’s here,” Rodney whispered softly, his voice heard by Doflamingo.
“Kukukuku, Rodney, do you know any inside information?”
He knew this kid had a good relationship with Garp, so does he know something?
“Ace, state your father’s name!”
Ace looked over and said, “My father is Whitebeard!”
“No, that’s not right!”
“There’s nothing wrong! My father is Whitebeard! He’s the only one!”
Ace vehemently countered. To him, his father was only one person: Whitebeard, and no one else.
Sengoku didn’t pay him any more attention and continued, “At the time, in order to find that man’s child, we expended a great deal of manpower and resources, searching worldwide, hoping to find out if that man left behind a child on some island…”
Ace’s birth cost his mother her life, two years inside her belly drained the life and energy of this great mother. After giving birth to him and ensuring that Garp would take care of her child, she let go of life.
Hearing Sengoku’s attempt to portray Ace’s birth as a conspiracy to increase the credibility of his words, Rodney frowned. Ace’s mother had simply wanted her child to live safely; nothing more. It was a mother’s hope for her son, and he didn’t like the way they were twisting it into a conspiracy.
“She was exhausted after giving birth and died on the spot. One year and three months after my father’s death, the baby inheriting the world’s most evil bloodline was born into this world. You can’t possibly not know who your biological father is, the Pirate King, Gol D. Roger!”
With one sentence, Sengoku plunged the entire Marineford into silence, and the whole world fell silent.
Gol D. Roger! This name was unforgettable to the entire world. He was the one who reached the final island, Raftel; he was the Pirate King, the man who ushered in the Great Pirate Era!
Countless people set sail in pursuit of his treasure, aiming to become the Pirate King and obtain the treasures he left behind. Yet, no one has succeeded to this day. This name, propagated by the World Government, represented evil and sin to many.
The fact that his son was still alive shocked them even more. If they found out that Garp raised Ace, it would be even more astonishing, wouldn’t it?
“Huh? Roger’s son? He’s actually still alive! Did you already know, Rodney?”
“Well, sort of. I’ve caught this kid before.”
He crossed his arms, wearing his Rokushiki-style belt with a water drop hanging from his waist and a flame fan on his back. It was something he had the Marines bring from Avalon in preparation for today.
Sengoku portrayed Ace’s boarding of the ship as Whitebeard’s attempt to groom him as the next Pirate King, further fueling the conspiracy. He used his words to inspire all the Marines and boost their morale.
For a moment, Marine morale reached its peak!
Before the great battle, Marineford fell silent once again, an eerie and unsettling silence.
“It’s too quiet,” Hancock couldn’t help but frown.
“Quiet to the point of being eerie,” Doflamingo added.
“But Whitebeard’s pirate crew will come sooner or later.”
Whitebeard would never abandon his family; that stubborn old man would never do that.
“They’re here!”
Rodney’s Mangekyou Sharingan pierced through the distant sea fog, spotting faint shadows.
“Here they come, Whitebeard!” Doflamingo also grinned.
The waves surged, and under Whitebeard’s flag, 43 New World pirate crews broke through the mist, hundreds of warships cutting through the waves, carrying fifty thousand pirates racing towards Marineford.
“It’s the Whitebeard Pirates!!!”
“Where did they come from?”
“We’ve blocked off the entire sea area ourselves! Where did they come from?!”
“All hands, prepare! We must not let the Whitebeard Pirates enter the harbor!!”
The alarm sounded, and the naval vessels and port artillery aimed at the pirate ships on the opposite side. However, the sudden appearance of the Whitebeard Pirates disrupted the Marines’ plans. They couldn’t believe that the Whitebeard Pirates had appeared out of nowhere.
In the bay of Marineford, a shadow appeared beneath the sea, Whitebeard’s flagship, the Moby Dick, burst out of the water like a prehistoric giant, creating massive waves. The bubbles surrounding the ships explained everything—they had come from underwater.
Using the coating, the Whitebeard Pirates’ entire fleet had advanced along the seabed, bypassing all of the Navy’s blockades, and had arrived safely at Marineford to rescue Ace.
“They coated their ships and came from underwater, didn’t they?”
Sengoku’s face was as calm as water, and he had considered many scenarios, but he had forgotten about the coating. After all, this technique was usually used by pirates to traverse Fish-Man Island, but he hadn’t expected Whitebeard to use it here. He had truly been outwitted by Whitebeard.
Not only the Moby Dick but also two ships similar to it broke through the water’s surface, anchoring themselves in the bay.
On board, those ships were all the division commanders of the Whitebeard Pirates.
At the bow of the Moby Dick, a towering figure stood.
Majestic and awe-inspiring, his appearance made many battle-hardened Marines feel a sense of trepidation because he was one of the Four Emperors! He was the world’s strongest man!
He was Edward Newgate, known as Whitebeard!!
Standing alone at the bow of the Moby Dick, with an imposing presence that could stop a thousand men, he wore a black bandana, his iconic white mustache, and a flowing cape, revealing his robust and powerful upper body. In his hand, he held the Supreme Grade sword, Murakumogiri, and with a single glance, he faced the hundred thousand Marines without a trace of fear.
“Gurararara, Sengoku, it’s been decades since we last met, hasn’t it? Is my dear son all right?”
He saw Ace kneeling on the execution platform.
“Just wait a moment, Ace!”
“Dad!!!!” Ace shouted loudly.
Whitebeard thrust Murakumogiri into the ship’s bow and crossed his muscular arms in front of his chest. His powerful biceps bulged with veins, and two awe-inspiring fists emitted a faint white aura. With a swing of his fists, earth-shattering power erupted at that moment.
Crack, crack, crack, crack!
Under the power of the Tremor Tremor Fruit, the surrounding space quaked, and the terrifying force sent shockwaves in all directions. The next moment, the previously calm sea became a raging beast, with waves surging, forming monstrous tidal waves that dwarfed Marineford.
Rodney wasn’t worried at all; he was just thinking about one thing: if Kuzan really didn’t intervene, then… what about Ace?
Ace was bound by Seastone Cuffs, rendering him powerless; he would just drown.
Kuzan, seated in his chair, used Shave to reach the sky, and two icy threads shot out from his hands: “Ice Age!”
The icy threads pierced into the waves and instantly froze them, forming massive icebergs.
“Kuzan! You little brat!”
In the sky, Kuzan, with two ice-cold spears in hand, aimed them at Whitebeard.
Two Thorn Spears!
Whitebeard followed up with a swing, shattering the two incoming spears, and the shockwaves sent Kizaru, now turned into shattered ice, plummeting from the sky.
As Kuzan fell and touched the sea surface, he instantly froze it, creating an ice sculpture that resembled him. Once again using Ice Age, he used the terrifying cold air to freeze the entire bay, immobilizing the ships of both the Whitebeard Pirates and the Marines, effectively restraining the Whitebeard Pirates.
