I Will Become Hokage in One Piece - Chapter 209
Chapter 209: Edward Newgate
Susano’o’s arm pressed down, directly pushing the three into the swamp.
Gurgle!
The swamp bubbled for a moment, and then there was no more movement. Amaterasu took a deep breath of her cigar, exhaling a long puff of smoke, and uttered two words, “Monster!”
“Amaterasu!”
Blood trickled from the corner of her eye, not aimed at Amaterasu, but at Blackbeard, who was battling Whitebeard.
“Ahhhhh!” The intense, unquenchable flames burned, causing Blackbeard to scream in agony. Black smoke enveloped his body, absorbing the flames of Amaterasu, but many parts of his body were still scorched.
Whitebeard wasn’t about to miss this opportunity. He delivered another punch to Blackbeard’s body. Despite Blackbeard’s incredible strength, even he couldn’t easily withstand two of Whitebeard’s powerful punches.
The sky was suddenly shrouded in shadows. San Juan Wolf clapped his hands towards Whitebeard, and Blackbeard quickly rolled out of the range of the giant palm.
“Wolf! Are you attacking me too…?” Blackbeard, who had been about to scold San Juan Wolf for disregarding his life, suddenly found that the blue little giant had left deep visible bone scars on San Juan Wolf’s arm.
“Ah ah ah!”
San Juan Wolf let out a miserable cry. With his massive size, his voice was also incredibly loud. He staggered back, clutching his arm, and in just a few steps, he was several tens of meters away from Magellan.
Rodney exited Susano’o’s form, and his feet stomped repeatedly in mid-air, accelerating and lunging forward each time.
He landed on San Juan Wolf’s body and miraculously ran up, completely ignoring gravity, as if his feet were sticking to San Juan Wolf’s body. He effortlessly arrived in front of San Juan Wolf.
“So small…” San Juan Wolf murmured softly, his voice like thunder.
The gleaming blade was drawn out, and with a low roar, “Elbaf’s Spear: Sovereignty!”
The spiraling sword energy shattered San Juan Wolf’s eyes, which were about the size of a small house, but the sword energy didn’t stop there. It continued forward, piercing through his skull, swirling, and finally bursting out from the back of his head.
“Ah!”
The massive body fell backward, and blood immediately dyed the surrounding sea.
“Why won’t you die, Whitebeard!” Blackbeard, bleeding, looked up and roared, his eyes filled with anger and hatred. Rodney had just taken down four of his subordinates who had been recruited from the sixth level. How could he not hate him?
“Why won’t you die, Whitebeard?!” He turned back, his face contorted with resentment, and he no longer feigned calling him “Old Man.” His expression was ferocious.
Why?
Why don’t you die already?
He was nearly dead, so why linger and occupy that position, that power capable of destroying the world?
He roared, and darkness emanated from him, “Dark Cavity! Devour him, Whitebeard!”
Whitebeard’s towering body sank, muttering, “Is this the power you obtained by killing your comrades, Teach?” His consciousness began to blur, and distant memories surged up.
“Roger and the ‘D’ you’re waiting for will never be you, Teach! The one who kills his own companions can’t be the one spoken of!” He squeezed out his last bit of strength from his body, the final power of the world’s strongest man!
Plop!
The giant naginata struck down, and Blackbeard quickly used Armament Haki to block it, but he was still pressed down.
“The old man is unkillable! You have this much strength at this moment!”
He pulled out his gun and fired a shot into Whitebeard’s wound, instantly halving his strength. Delighted, he roared, “Fire! Fire! Fire! Fire! Fire!”
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
The guns in the hands of Blackbeard’s pirate crew didn’t stop roaring. Whitebeard was hit by several bullets, took a step back, and used Conqueror’s Haki to support himself.
A series of images flashed before his eyes.
He was born in a village on an island in the New World. The village was very poor, and because of its poverty, it couldn’t afford the “Heavenly Gold” required to join the World Government as a non-affiliated nation. The World Government was indifferent to non-affiliated nations and even tacitly allowed slave hunters to capture slaves there. More and more children became orphans, and he was one of them.
Later, he became a pirate and sent all his treasures back to his hometown. This was how he lived his life. Even though his hometown had no family or friends, it was still his hometown.
After joining a pirate crew, when he was asked by his comrades what he wanted, he smiled and answered that he wanted family. This drew laughter from his comrades, but he didn’t mind because they didn’t know how much he longed for family.
As the pirate crew grew larger, they encountered more opponents on the sea. Everyone had their own thoughts, and even though the captain could suppress them, they were still mostly at odds.
The captain was a crazy guy, but he was also a very strong guy. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have been able to keep Skypiea, Kaido, Kurohige, Charlotte Linlin, and Wang Zhi under control.
That guy later planned to attack the Celestial Dragons and their slaves in the Holy Land of Mariejois, but was defeated by Cap and Roger working together. Most of them chose to watch from the sidelines, and not many actually took action. He was the same, because he felt that if the crazy guy became the ruler of the world, it would probably be a disaster for the world.
For the first time, the people on the ship made the same choice.
The captain was defeated, and the Rocks Pirates officially disbanded. He began to form his own pirate crew, and Marco, that kid, was his first crew member. At that time, he was the youngest on the ship.
Later, Whitebeard’s pirate crew arrived at Wano and encountered a man named Kozuki Oden, a very strong man who brought several of his subordinates on board without permission and became the second division captain. They got along well, like brothers.
After that, they encountered Roger’s pirate crew and fought them for three days and three nights.
On the fourth day, they ceased hostilities. They had no quarrel, so they became friends instead. However, that guy wanted to take Oden away for a year. What a ridiculous promise! How could he let someone take away his family like that?
But it seemed Oden was interested in Roger, so he had to let him go.
However, when Oden left, he never returned. After completing Roger’s unprecedented feat, Roger came to find him and told him that Oden had returned to his hometown and probably wouldn’t be back for a while. That damned Roger!
Not long after that, Roger was captured by Kapu. He didn’t go, but he knew the news of Roger’s capture
was fake because if Roger had fought Kapu, Kapu wouldn’t have looked so intact and composed as the newspaper claimed.
Roger had surrendered!
He thought this way.
Shortly thereafter, Roger was executed, and he didn’t go, but Roger announced the existence of “ONE PIECE!” opening the curtain on the Great Pirate Era. More and more foolish kids appeared on the sea, wanting to find Roger’s treasure. Some of his crew members wanted to find it too but gave up on the idea after a couple of words from him.
How could something like that compare to family?
As time went by, he had more and more family around him. A young man named Portgas D. Ace emerged on the sea, challenging various pirates recklessly with the belief that he could take his head.
But Portgas D. Ace was stopped by him, and they fought for a long time. He became interested in this stubborn young man, who was willing to sacrifice himself for his crew members. He thought he was a good kid!
This stubborn kid initially refused to become his son and even claimed to have made a promise with someone else. What kind of promise was that?
But he let Ace be, and in the end, he became his son. He just didn’t expect that he was Roger’s son too. Roger, that guy, actually had another son?
Ace went to find the person he had made the promise with and was captured. Similarly, he was a good kid, but he had his own principles when it came to family.
He didn’t force them, and they left with Ace, but not long after, Teach killed Thatch for a Devil Fruit.
Ace, ignoring all advice, chased after Teach and was captured. Teach handed him over to the World Government, and he didn’t hesitate to gather a team to rescue his son!
What father wouldn’t shield his son from the wind and rain?
