I Will Become Hokage in One Piece - Chapter 219
Chapter 219: The Arrival of the Marine
“They’re here!”
On the horizon, white sails appeared first in their field of vision, followed by the formidable Navy battleships.
On the leading warship, a man with an eye patch was drowsy, barely keeping his eyes open. Beside him, an elderly woman with white hair said, “Kuzan, don’t fall asleep. We’ve arrived at Aveliton.”
“Ah, Alara, we’re already here? So fast! I really didn’t want to face that young man. I had high hopes for him.”
“I did too, but it’s too late now, Kuzan. He’s betrayed the World Government, even though he never really worked for them.” The elderly woman also held high hopes for this young man. She saw him as someone with a strong sense of justice and his own principles. She believed in him until he betrayed them, right before the rescue mission for Ace.
Unfortunately, he had turned his back on them.
With a World Government bounty on his head, the higher-ups had scolded Kuzan and immediately ordered him to send troops to Aveliton to apprehend Rodney.
This force was nearly comparable to the Buster Call!
However, facing Rodney, who could manipulate natural disasters, would require a significant cost.
“What’s on your mind, Admiral? Are you thinking of how to deal with Rodney?” Kuzan asked.
The elderly woman shook her head. “To take him down, we’ll have to engage in direct combat. You’ll handle Rodney, and we’ll find a way to capture his subordinates. I don’t like using this method, but Rodney’s real concern is the people around him. If we can capture Nico Robin, that would be ideal.”
Kuzan fell silent for a moment. Robin held a special place in his heart. He would never forget what happened in Ohara. He didn’t regret letting her go. It was because of the Ohara incident that his perspective on justice had changed, and even his character had undergone some changes. He couldn’t bring himself to use people to threaten others; it wasn’t what a just Marine should do.
The elderly woman sighed deeply. “I don’t want to do this either. Rodney has adopted many children, providing them with a good education and a safe place to live. You’ve seen the reports. Otherwise, Sengoku wouldn’t have sent you.”
Originally, the World Government intended to send Sakazuki, who, once he received orders from above, would execute them without mercy. If he were to act, the people of Aveliton would surely suffer. To avoid this, Sengoku decided on a gentler approach and chose Kuzan instead.
Sakazuki was still needed to guard their headquarters. Although he hadn’t been injured during the Summit War, Sengoku wouldn’t release him so easily. It was all because of Rodney. Nobody knew what this madman might do. If he decided to infiltrate Mariejois as he claimed, how many Celestial Dragons would die?
Although he had mentioned this to the Five Elders, they didn’t seem to care. They acted as if they held all the cards, leaving Sengoku to follow their decisions and not question them further.
As a military man, Sengoku had no choice but to obey their orders. However, he had his suspicions. He assigned Kuzan to continue his previous work, having the fleet admiral, Borsalino, assist him in maintaining security against Rodney’s potential attacks.
Though Kuzan was reluctant, he brought his forces here. As for Sakazuki…
He was in the hospital, having to deal with Whitebeard’s and Cap’s fists. The two had nearly pounded him to the point of no recognition. It was another instance where the “Navy Hero” had saved Cap, but it left Sakazuki with a swollen nose and injured pride. In the end, they only let him lead the new recruits, and Cap happily skipped off, retaining his rank as Vice Admiral.
“Report! Sudden waves incoming!”
A Marine suddenly reported.
Kuzan and the elderly woman focused their attention. Large waves were surging from the direction of Aveliton, heading straight for the fleet.
“Is it Rodney?”
They saw him. Standing on top of the waves, Rodney had his arms crossed as he looked down at the Navy below.
“He’s trying to block us here,” Kuzan said.
The elderly woman replied, “Then we’ll fight right here.” With waves this massive, the fleet couldn’t escape. While Kuzan possessed the ability to freeze the waves easily, doing so would also freeze the surrounding sea, just as Rodney had planned. Rodney wanted to prevent the fleet from getting close to Aveliton and shift the battle to the open sea.
It was indeed a clever choice, even the elderly woman couldn’t help but admire this young man’s tactical awareness.
“Let’s go, Kuzan!”
“Ice Age!”
Kuzan extended his hand, shooting out a line of ice that froze the oncoming waves, creating a massive iceberg.
On top of the iceberg, Rodney clapped his hands together and exclaimed, “Ice Release: Unihorned White Whale!”
From the side of the iceberg, a magnificent, one-horned, snow-white whale charged towards Kuzan and the others.
Several figures soared into the air; they were the Vice Admirals. Wielding their swords, they sliced the Unihorned White Whale into pieces.
“Ice Release: Wolf Fang Avalanche!”
The shards of the Unihorned White Whale turned into a pack of wolves made of ice, standing on the frozen sea and charging towards Kuzan and the others.
“Fire!”
The elderly woman gave the order, and the cannons on the warships began firing at the approaching ice wolves. However, just then, they heard two low voices.
“Earth Release: Swamp of the Underworld!”
The sea, previously frozen by Kuzan, suddenly turned soft. Kuzan and the others rushed to see that their ships were sinking into the sudden mud.
“What is this…”
“Rodney killed the Tenryubito with this move! Kuzan!”
Even without the elderly woman’s reminder, Kuzan had already begun freezing the Swamp of the Underworld. He exhaled a breath of cold air and said, “This technique isn’t just Rodney’s, there’s another one, standing on his shoulder behind the iceberg.”
“I see, but isn’t that a Devil Fruit ability of Rodney’s?” the elderly woman questioned.
“Perhaps not. He never said anything about having a Devil Fruit ability. All the information says he’s a ninja from the East Blue. He shouldn’t have such a powerful ability,” Kuzan replied.
“The land of Wano is quite mysterious. But Rodney is an East Blue native, for sure. Could it be some unknown Superhuman-type Devil Fruit?”
Kuzan and the elderly woman continued to strategize on how to deal with Rodney as Myoboku Mountain’s Toad Sages appeared.
“This world’s strongest combatant? Rodney, you troublemaker. But this sensation… Old man…”
The elder toad sage nodded, saying, “In my perception, that’s ice! Is this the so-called natural Devil Fruit user? This world is truly extraordinary. To gain such magical abilities without the need for training.”
Devil Fruits could make someone rise to the top
instantly, even if they were once considered useless.
“Two sages, I’m counting on you,” Rodney said softly. “Your arts can harm Devil Fruit users of the natural type.”
“No wonder you had Jiraiya enter Sage Mode early. You planned for this,” the elder toad sage and the younger toad sage both agreed. “The old man uses wind, the kid uses oil, and I use fire. Come on! I refuse to believe there’s anyone who can absorb our Sage Jutsu!”
Jiraiya, the Toad Sage, chuckled. “Only we have the Six Paths of Pain here. Come on, you two sages!”
With that, one toad sage and two toad sages each puffed out their chests, and from their chests, gale-force winds, oil, and flames spewed forth.
“Sage Art: Goemon!”
