Chapter 222: Battle Against Kuzan

Connor remained silent, not uttering a word. It was clear, however, that this guy posed a significant threat.

Léij? lightly parted her red lips and exhaled poison mist, but as she got closer to Kuzan, it all froze into ice shards, falling onto the deck and corroding it with small pits.

“Is this ability similar to Magellan’s?”

Perhaps Léij?’s offensive power wasn’t as potent as Magellan’s Venom-Venom Fruit, nor could she spontaneously generate toxins. She needed to absorb other poisons, but both shared a fondness for deadly toxins. The difference lay in the source: one from a Devil Fruit ability and the other from technology.

Technology was indeed a powerful tool.

Although Gajeel wasn’t the best father figure, his skills as a scientist surpassed Caesar Clown, that scoundrel, by quite a margin.

“It seems your threat has lost its potential, but the remaining toxins might claim the lives of those young marines. My toxins are nothing to scoff at either,” Léij? chuckled, covering her mouth. She might be wary of Kuzan, but she didn’t fear him. As one of the few individuals with flight capabilities, she could escape if the need arose, unlike Kuzan, whom she doubted could fly.

So, it was great to have the ability to fly!

“Ah, well, it was worth a shot,” Rodney sighed. He hadn’t really expected to succeed; he simply thought it was worth a try, and unsurprisingly, it failed.

“Ice Puck!”

Suddenly, Kuzan froze Connor, turning him into an ice puck. Léij? had a way to escape, but Connor might not.

“You really don’t want to give up, huh?” Rodney tilted his head and said to Kuzan, “It looks like we’re in for a showdown, just as you wished. Jiraiya, go ahead!”

With that, both Shima and Fukaboku drew their swords, and Jiraiya transformed, his limbs partially frog-like, enhancing his body with chakra through Senjutsu. However, his Sage Mode wasn’t perfect, which was why he had this appearance.

“Sage Art: Hair Needle Senbon!”

Jiraiya’s long hair hanging behind him shot out as white needles, incredibly fast and possessing exceptional speed.

Gajeel and Shizune quickly swung their swords, using their formidable reflexes and swordplay to intercept and shatter the Hair Needle Senbon.

Rodney rushed in, forming the second half of the duo. His sword clashed with Gajeel’s, and his crimson eyes locked onto Gajeel’s crimson irises. He spoke solemnly, “Rodney, there’s no point in resisting further!”

“And then what? Can you catch me? Without the strength of an admiral, you can’t apprehend me, not to mention the two of you are vice admirals!” With force in his hands, Gajeel struggled to fend off Rodney. While Shima wanted to intervene, Fukaboku held her back.

“Fire Style: Grand Fireball Jutsu!”

A scorching fireball drove Gajeel back, preventing him from defending effectively. Suddenly, Gajeel swung his sword, splitting the incoming fireball in half.

Far away, Van Augur remained in the crow’s nest of the Black Pearl, continuously pulling the trigger.

Bang, bang, bang!

“Ultra-Big Ball Rasengan!”

Jiraiya jumped up, a massive chakra ball forming in his hand, spinning rapidly. Inside, chakra rotated at high speed, aiming directly for Gajeel.

Van Augur’s bullets blocked Gajeel’s escape route. Even if he wanted to cut the bullets with his sword, it would take some time, which was quite lengthy in battle.

Hesitating for a moment, as the Ultra-Big Ball Rasengan approached, Gajeel frantically swung his sword, breaking one of the bullets with his blade.

In the end, he couldn’t avoid it. The Ultra-Big Ball Rasengan arrived, and Gajeel found himself encased in a block of ice.

“Ice Age!”

A colossal ice golem burst out of the ground, standing between them. “The sneak attack failed. Kuzan, you’re indeed a formidable admiral. My little tricks won’t cut it,” Rodney acknowledged.

“Well, you can’t underestimate them,” Kuzan replied, looking at the situation. Gajeel’s half-ice golem form stood with a shield in one hand and a sword in the other, while the blood flowed from Rodney’s eyes.

“It appears this move also affected you,” Kuzan noted.

“Of course, to gain powerful abilities, one must lose something. Some people lose their hair, some lose their principles. You’ve lost your ability to swim, and I’ve sacrificed something as well,” Rodney’s demeanor turned sinister. “So, Kuzan, do you have the means to counter the next attack?”

Susano’o manifested legs, and his eyes, tingling with pain, were filled with chakra. Senjutsu chakra flowed into them. “Heavenly Cloak: Lightning Thunder!”

A series of lightning bolts descended, one after another, targeting Kuzan and Gajeel.

“Indeed, this guy’s ability is the trickiest. Cryogenic Time Capsule!”

Chilling air erupted from Kuzan’s palm, freezing Rodney into an ice block. In the next moment, Rodney broke free, and his body suddenly vanished.

Invisibility!

“Did you forget Observation Haki?” Kuzan quickly froze the sea beneath him. Then, with a black sword in hand, Rodney emerged from the ice.

“Black Lightning!” Rodney’s black panther rushed out, teeth bared, and lunged at Kuzan.

Kuzan immediately conjured an ice wall, but electric arcs still struck him. Rodney had grabbed a piece of ice, channeling his lightning through it.

“Well, you certainly can’t underestimate me,” Rodney grinned.

“Then I won’t,” Kuzan replied, forming a massive ice wall. As Rodney’s panther slammed into it, Kuzan called, “Ice Age!”

The tremendous skeleton golem emerged again, shattering the ice panther.

“Ice Age, Third Gear!” Kuzan’s body transformed into a giant golem, and he lifted his colossal sword.

“Black Wind Razor!”

Rodney’s form blurred, and multiple black wind blades sliced towards Kuzan.

“Absolute Zero!” Kuzan roared, freezing everything within a vast radius instantly. The Black Wind Razor solidified into ice, dropping harmlessly to the ground.

As the icy blast settled, the colossal skeleton golem remained, and Rodney was encased in a massive block of ice.

“Ice Age, Fourth Gear!” Kuzan’s ice golem expanded, dwarfing the others.

“Time Freeze!” Rodney activated his Devil Fruit power, freezing time around him. The ice that had formed around him shattered into pieces, and he lunged towards Kuzan.

But as he neared, time resumed its flow, and Kuzan swung his colossal sword. Rodney barely managed to evade it, but the sheer force of the swing sent him flying.
