“Help, Missy? How could we help her?” the girls scoffed at Gwen’s suggestion.
“Exactly! She deserves to be shot by the police! That ugly monster!” echoed among the classmates, with many nodding in agreement.
“Peter, what are you doing? Come back here!” But Ned’s shout drew everyone’s attention.
A figure quickly descended from the second floor and rushed toward Missy.
“Peter Parker!” Gwen’s eyes widened with surprise, pleased to find someone else shared her thoughts. He was usually so unremarkable, but now he appeared so heroic.
Unable to restrain herself, she also rushed downstairs.
“Stop!” Peter reached Missy and stood before her, shielding her with his body. The crowd was momentarily stunned.
Missy’s eyes were filled with surprise.
“Move! Do you know what you’re doing?” George Stacy shouted angrily at Peter.
“Come back here, be careful she doesn’t kill you!”
“Missy isn’t that kind of person!” Peter was also internally panicking, never expecting to take such a bold action. But seeing Missy’s tears, he could no longer hold back. His inherent goodness wouldn’t allow him to see Missy shot by the police, even though she had transformed into a monster.
“That’s right! Dad, Missy isn’t like that!” Gwen quickly joined Peter’s side. Together, they shielded Missy.
“What are you doing? This monster just killed so many police officers and civilians! And before, four of our female classmates died at her hands!” George was furious, surprised that his daughter had stepped forward.
“Arrest them!” he commanded the police immediately.
“Quick, Missy! Take me hostage!” Gwen then urgently instructed Missy.
Missy hesitated for a moment.
“Quick!” Gwen urged desperately.
Reluctantly, Missy bit her lip and grabbed Gwen.
“Don’t come any closer, or I’ll kill her!” Missy, holding Gwen, made George hesitant to act.
Without hesitation, she unfolded her wings and swiftly flew away with Gwen from the scene.
“Gwen… damn it!” George could only stamp his foot in frustration, not expecting his daughter to do such a thing.
“Bring him back to me!” he directed his frustration at Peter.
Peter was harshly handcuffed by the police and taken to the police car.
Meanwhile, Missy took Gwen to the rooftop of a tall building.
“Thank you, Gwen!” Missy, back in her human form, looked at Gwen with gratitude.
“This is all so unfair to you!”
Gwen grasped Missy’s hand, worriedly saying, “But now you’ll be wanted. Have you thought about what you’ll do?”
“I don’t know! I don’t know where to go…” Missy shook her head, her eyes filled with uncertainty about the future.
Just an hour earlier, she dreamed of getting into a good university and becoming self-reliant.
But now, she had become a fugitive with no hiding place in the United States.
“What are we going to do?” Gwen was also worried.
As the two felt at a loss,
“You two, having this chat on my rooftop isn’t quite appropriate, is it?”
A voice arose next to the two.
“Mr. Jerome!”
Gwen and Missy quickly turned around to face Lin Wusheng. Gwen appeared somewhat panicked.
It was a coincidence that Missy had brought her to the top of Jerome’s Tech Tower. Knowing Lin Wusheng was a Grasshopper, she feared what he might do to Missy.
“The moment you landed, I knew!”
Lin Wusheng looked at Gwen and Missy; their unique influence factors were already apparent.
“So I took some time to look into Miss Missy Kalenbach’s situation. I’m afraid things seem quite bad!”
Lin Wusheng looked at Missy with a severe gaze.
“I can explain! Mr. Jerome, it wasn’t Missy’s intention! She couldn’t control her powers. That’s why this happened!”
Gwen quickly tried to explain to Missy.
“I know!” Lin Wusheng nodded and said:

“I won’t end up like that!” Missy immediately responded eagerly:

Lin Wusheng shook his head dismissively:
“I don’t believe a person can retain their true self after gaining power!”
“But, Missy is very kind! You don’t understand her, Mr. Jerome!”
Gwen spoke up for Missy: “She’s a good girl! Her family…”
“I know about her family; I’ve looked into that. I’ve also investigated her circumstances thoroughly. That’s also why I didn’t just eliminate her.”
Lin Wusheng interrupted Gwen:
“She might be kind now, but that might not happen in the future!”
“What should we do then? How can you be convinced?”
Gwen looked at Lin Wusheng, stomping her foot anxiously.
“Accept my supervision!”
Lin Wusheng’s statement startled Gwen and Missy. He continued:
“Given Missy’s nature, putting her in prison would indeed be unfair. However, not receiving punishment is also not acceptable. So, I’ve decided to take on the responsibility of supervising Missy. “Don’t worry, Miss Gwen! If you’re concerned about Missy’s safety, visit Jerome’s Tech anytime! I welcome you! And having you as a friend by her side, Missy will feel much less psychological pressure.”
Lin Wusheng looked at Gwen, nodding gentlemanly.
