In Marvel, People are Kamen Rider - Chapter 32
“It’s not impossible!”
Listening to Lin Wusheng’s words, Gwen finally nodded her head.
Indeed, Missy needed somewhere else to go, and being taken in by Jerome’s Tech would be an excellent choice. Jerome’s Tech had all the capabilities to handle any police scrutiny.
“What are we waiting for then? The police have already deployed helicopters to search for you two!”
Lin Wusheng opened the rooftop door:
“Please come in, ladies!”
Gwen and Missy exchanged glances and entered the door.
Along the way, both were astonished by the advanced technology at Jerome’s Tech.
“How about it, Gwen? Interested in interning at Jerome’s Tech? I could write you a recommendation letter to Princeton or Cornell.”
Lin Wusheng looked at Gwen’s expression and asked. He was not interested in her physically but knew she could provide significant influence factors.
“Of course! But I’ve already joined OsCorp’s research team, and leaving them hanging wouldn’t be right.”
Gwen nodded, and then her expression dimmed.
“OsCorp, huh? Not bad, although they can’t compare to us at Jerome’s, their tech level is quite respectable.”
Lin Wusheng nodded and led the two girls to the third basement level, which housed the Midnight Werewolf and humanoid creatures. Russell’s status had been upgraded, allowing him to move about outside. Only the humanoids remained here constantly.
“Ted! I’m introducing a new colleague to you today!”
Lin Wusheng brought Missy and Gwen directly to Ted’s lounge.
Looking at Ted, both Missy and Gwen were startled.
Ted immediately shyly covered his face with a magazine.
“Alright! Ted, let me introduce you. This is Missy, your new colleague. She’s a monster too!”
Under Lin Wusheng’s introduction, Ted curiously looked at Missy.
Missy also managed to smile and greet him.
Upon seeing Ted, the tension in her heart flew away instantly for some reason.
If such a creature could live well here, why couldn’t she?
Meanwhile, Gwen fell into silence.
This creature did look monstrous.
“Have a good chat, get to know each other! As for Gwen, I’ll arrange for someone to take you back so your father won’t worry too much.
But you know what to say when you get back, right?”
Lin Wusheng looked towards Gwen.
“Of course! Missy dropped me off on the street and left!”
Gwen nodded affirmatively.
“That’s good!”
Lin Wusheng nodded satisfactorily, leaving them to their conversation and heading to his office.
“Should be about time! The news should be starting.”
Lin Wusheng turned on the TV in front of him.
Soon after, an emergency news bulletin came on:
“Famous businessman, playboy, and genius scientist Tony Stark has gone missing after an attack in the Middle East!
It is understood that Tony was in the Middle East to test the latest Jericho missile with the U.S. military but was attacked by a terrorist organization on his way back…”
“The Marvel movie timeline has finally begun! It’s time to accelerate my plans.”
Lin Wusheng looked at the image of Tony Stark on the TV, a peculiar smile curling at the corners of his mouth.
…
“Campus terror as a monstrous creature suddenly kills over twenty police officers and students!”
“Mysterious monster appears on campus. Turns out to be a high school girl!”
“Campus disappearance case solved. The perpetrator is a monster!”
One news headline after another dominated significant media outlets, stirring heated discussions worldwide.
Countless people were moved by the sight of an Orphino, debating the authenticity of the videos.
The public argued incessantly, but official conclusions were yet to be made.
“Who can tell me how many Orphinos there are worldwide?”
At the Triskelion.
Nick Fury was convening a meeting with S.H.I.E.L.D. agents.
Hearing Nick Fury’s question, the agents lowered their heads.
Truthfully, had it not been for the Orphino attack on Jerome’s birthday dinner, S.H.I.E.L.D. would have remained unaware of these monstrous beings.
“Coulson, as the only agent who has had close contact with an Orphino, what are your thoughts?”
Seeing no one speak up, Nick Fury turned to Coulson.
“They are undoubtedly creatures far stronger than humans!”
Coulson’s tone was grave:
“They possess strength hundreds, even thousands of times greater than that of a human, capable of quickly killing hundreds.
Their skin and muscles can defend against small bullets, and those with armor can withstand extensive gunfire.
More importantly, I’ve come to realize a fact—
That is, humans can turn into Orphinos after accidental deaths!
This means anyone could become an orphan!
“Everyone can become an Orphino?”
Hearing Coulson’s words, the agents’ pupils contracted.
“Yes, according to my conversation with the Orphino named Andrew, he awakened as an Orphino after being killed during a robbery.
His statements and those from higher-ranking Orphinos support this view.”
Coulson played the audio from his conversation with Andrew that day.
“One in a million chances, by that logic, there must be thousands of Orphinos in the world!”
After listening to the audio, every agent’s face was filled with solemnity.
If one in a million of a seven billion population, that’s seven hundred thousand possible Orphinos!
“Not that many, only some who die by suicide or accidents can awaken the power of an Orphino, not those who die from diseases or old age. Also, their bodies must remain intact.”
Coulson shook his head, adding:
“Even so, there are at least a thousand orphans out there!
They must be hiding among us, indistinguishable from ordinary humans.”
“Listening to you, I’m getting a bit scared! Do we need orphans among our agents?
I know plenty of agents who have returned from dire situations!
Their chances of survival were slim, yet they miraculously came back!
They couldn’t have become Orphinos, could they?”
An agent’s comment suddenly tensed the atmosphere in the meeting room.
“Garrett, there’s no need to say such things! I trust our agents!”
Nick Fury glared at the speaking agent.
The speaker was about seven or eight years older than Coulson, with a receding hairline and a wild aura.
This was S.H.I.E.L.D.’s Level 8 agent—John Garrett, a senior to many agents, including Coulson.
Of course, his real identity was a high-level Hydra mole.
