In Marvel, People are Kamen Rider - Chapter 41
Inside the top floor, all the lights were out, leaving everything shrouded in darkness.
The safety lights emitted a faint green glow, creating a sinister atmosphere.
Strange noises came from the end of the corridor, causing the agents to get goosebumps.
“Everyone, be on high alert; the enemy isn’t easy to handle!” Garrett led a few agents at the front.
Although he was a Hydra mole, his willingness to fight boldly and lead the charge was why he had risen to a Level 8 agent.
“Form a B pattern and spread out. Some of you, move to the center!” Clint and Natasha were in charge of the middle team’s firepower.
They were also responsible for protecting the new agents, Fitz and Jemma.
By now, Fitz and Jemma were wearing the ballistic vests and helmets of deceased teammates and holding their weapons, looking somewhat like agents.
“Jemma, stay by my side, I’ll protect you!”
Although Fitz was swallowing nervously with fear, he still spoke to Jemma.
Jemma didn’t say anything; she stood back-to-back with Fitz, her trembling body showing her nervous fear.
Melinda led the rear of the team. Keeping this formation, they turned on the flashlights on their helmets and continued into the darkness.
“The main air conditioner room is just ahead, but I don’t hear any Asgardian voices.”
Garrett had approached the door to the air conditioner room, holding his breath, but it was eerily quiet inside.
“Be careful!” Clint and Natasha could only remind him.
“Don’t worry, there’s nothing I haven’t seen before.”
Garrett smiled confidently, his cigar nearly finished.
He was the only one not wearing a gas mask.
“Prepare the stun grenades. Group One follows me to the right, Group Two to the left, Group Three watches the ceiling, and the rest are with Clint and Natasha.”
After arranging the formation, Garrett tossed away his cigar, put on his gas mask, and ordered: “Charge!”
Several S.H.I.E.L.D. agents immediately took stun grenades from their gear and threw them into the air conditioner room.
As the stun grenades exploded, the team rushed into the room.
“Clear!”
“Clear!”
The agents continuously reported.
Surprisingly, the room was empty.
“Trouble, at the back, Melinda is under attack!”
Suddenly, gunshots rang out from outside, and everyone reacted immediately.
“Wait, there’s something in the room too!”
A cloud of black mist quickly enveloped the room from the ventilation ducts, filling it in the blink of an eye.
“There’s something under the floor!”
The agents felt the floor shake and large hands suddenly emerged from the ground, dragging an agent into the floor.
The next second, blood surged from the ground.
“Damn it, it’s an ambush! Maintain formation, move back!”
Garrett issued the order, knowing they couldn’t fight in the black mist.
But as they retreated from the room, blue-white energy arrows shot at the agents.
The ballistic vests the agents wore were no protection against these energy arrows, and four or five agents immediately fell victim to them.
Several people stood up again, only to disintegrate entirely into ash.
“Hmph, do you think we wouldn’t know your formation?”
“Have you forgotten our training scores? I can break this formation with a flick of my wrist!” The taunting voices of multiple Lokis echoed from various parts of the corridor.
Garrett remembered these eight Lokis had led the Hydra Academy in training scores.
“They’ve only been training for a month? Lokis learn that quickly?”
Clint and Natasha were puzzled, exchanging complaints before opening fire with their teams, attempting to suppress the Lokis.
“It’s useless. From the moment you stepped onto this floor, your fate was sealed!” A figure sprang from the floor, revealing a skull-like face.
The Loki, with an earthworm appearance, grinned menacingly: “Don’t blame me, this is for your good!”
In his hand, he has appeared a crescent blade, which he plunged through two agents in front of him.
“Maintain formation; don’t panic!”
Natasha and Clint steadied their formation while firing.
However, the scene inevitably fell into panic.
Especially the recruits, who were nearly scared into running.
“Jemma, let’s cover our angles. You watch the back and the ground, and I’ll cover the front and the ceiling.”
Fitz’s gun fired intermittently, but he hit nothing.
“Okay! But have you noticed we’re getting farther from the team?”
Turning around, they shockingly found themselves on a side path they had unknowingly taken.
“Hey, Fitz, Jemma! Nice to see you two!”
A massive figure appeared before them.
“Aron!”
Fitz and Jemma cried out in unison, involuntarily stepping back.
The figure before them was one of the Lokis disguised among them.
“Honestly, Fitz, Jemma, I admire your brains! I’ve decided to give you a chance! Take your own lives, strive to become stronger, Lokis!”
The Armadillo Loki didn’t rush to attack but instead spoke to them.
“You’re dreaming! You bastard, you killed Jennifer!”
Fitz yelled angrily.
“Wasn’t Jennifer always jealous of you? I was helping you!”
Armadillo Loki said, “See how peaceful it is now!”
“That’s no reason for you to kill her!”
Jemma immediately pulled the trigger, making the Armadillo Loki continually dodge and retreat, leaving Fitz stunned.
“What are you waiting for? Run!”
Jemma shouted, grabbing Fitz’s hand and running towards the main troop.
Fitz felt something was off as if the roles were reversed, but he obediently followed Jemma.
“You can’t escape!”
Armadillo Loki sneered, opening his mouth as a tentacle shot out swiftly.
It shattered the nearby walls and windows around Fitz and Jemma.
“This way!”
The two ran haphazardly, ending up farther from the main troop, heading deeper into the top floor.
“Damn it, these guys are everywhere!”
Elsewhere, Garrett’s cursing echoed around.
“We still don’t know enough about Loki’s abilities! We’ve become reactive now!”
Natasha and Clint struggled to hold their ground, but as they saw agents falling around them, anxiety-filled their hearts.
“We must retreat now, or we’ll all die here!”
Melinda gritted her teeth; her team had been the first to be attacked and had suffered the heaviest losses, with only four left out of ten.
“Retreat to the stairs first.”
Garrett nodded.
“We can’t retreat. We’ve lost some recruits!”
Clint argued, pulling out his bow and arrows, continually exchanging shots with the Flying Fish Loki.
“If we don’t retreat, we’ll all die here! We must retreat!”
Garrett roared.
The field immediately plunged into chaos.
