Crash!
Several S.H.I.E.L.D. agents turned into ash-gray sand under Squid Orphic’s and Scarab Orphic’s energy infusion, scattering in the wind.
None were able to evolve into Orphics successfully.
“They are all useless.”
Scarab Orphic disdainfully shook his head.
“You, you killed them!”
The three new Orphics struggled to swallow, shocked at how swiftly Robert and the blond man had killed a dozen S.H.I.E.L.D. agents right before them.
Though they were unaware of the true identities of the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, judging by their attire and weapons, they were clearly from some government-unique agency, whether it be the FBI or something akin to CSI.
“I didn’t kill them; fate did not choose them. My intention was good, and it shouldn’t be described as murder!”
Squid Orphic, transformed by Robert, earnestly explained to the three newbies.
“But they are dead!”
Excitement flickered in the eyes of the new Orphics.
Although they had killed people before, those were accidental deaths due to their inability to control their powers, followed by guilt and fear of police pursuit.
Now, seeing Robert and his companion brazenly enter a government organization’s base and kill en masse, the worldview of the three was shaken.
“Is this what it means to be an Orphic? If you don’t become an Orphic, then you remain a mere human, and death is just death.”
Squid Orphic nonchalantly said:
“This is your first lesson in the evolution of an Orphic! When we inject humans with Orphic energy, they can become Orphics. If they don’t evolve successfully, they die. This is how we Orphics increase our numbers.”
“But that’s so cruel!”
The beautiful girl couldn’t help but speak up.
“Cruel? In the face of biological evolution, there is no cruelty!”
Squid Orphic stopped explaining to the three newbies and looked towards the last one, lounging in fishnet shirts and black silk pants. The flamboyant man said:
“Your turn, Sea Cucumber!”
“Heh, finally, my turn? Watch closely, kids!”
The flamboyant man licked his lips with a crimson tongue, then twisted his body, transforming into an Orphic form.
Sea Cucumber Orphic’s soft body, providing ample cushion against physical attacks, could emit a gelatinous dissolving solution from his palms capable of dissolving concrete and steel.
He strutted to the front of the hub base’s main gate, swinging his hips.
Then he raised his palm!
Sizzle!
A giant blob of black viscous fluid was sprayed onto the gate.
The steel gate immediately emitted black and yellow smoke, the stench driving the three new Orphics to step back repeatedly.
Soon, a large entrance appeared at the gate.
“Let’s teach you another lesson! Children, what is an Orphic? We are a nobler species than humans. We can freely kill humans, just as humans can step on ants!”
Sea Cucumber Orphic let out a woman-like shrill laugh, his palm releasing a massive amount of black dissolving liquid towards the gate.
“Ah!”
Screams erupted from the doorway as several S.H.I.E.L.D. agents were corroded, revealing their bones.
“Dammit, fire!”
Coulson and Blake had already noticed the Orphic attackers on the outskirts and had prepared a defensive setup. Still, they had not anticipated the enemy’s initial long-range attack, which instantly broke their formation.
“Kill!”
Squid Orphic and Scarab Orphic immediately burst in, starting a massacre within the chaotic base.
“Remember to inject the Orphic gene; otherwise, their chance of transformation is reduced!”
Squid Orphic didn’t forget to instruct the three newbies, who were terrified and dared not advance to attack.
“Dammit, Clinton, Natasha, we need backup in the hall! Orphic reinforcements have broken in!”
Coulson called for backup from Natasha and Clinton.
The agents left to guard the hall were not only few. Many were clerical staff. Though they had combat training, they were different from field agents.
A group of people were terrified by the Orphic onslaught, running in all directions, unable to mount an effective counterattack.
The situation was nearly one-sided with the strength of Scarab Orphic, Squid Orphic, and Sea Cucumber Orphic.
With support, the agents would be able to handle the situation.
“Heh, this is fun!”
Sea Cucumber Orphic suddenly noticed, looking towards the side at a Quinjet.
“Such a big fighter jet, definitely interesting!”
Sea Cucumber Orphic ran swiftly towards the Quinjet.
“Damn, we can’t let him get on the plane!”
Coulson was frantic. A Quinjet costs billions of dollars and cannot be allowed to be destroyed by an Orphic.
He immediately grabbed an armor-piercing rifle and chased after Sea Cucumber Orphic.
“Hmph! Your plane, we’re taking it!”
Scarab Orphic also wanted Sea Cucumber Orphic to take the Quinjet and thus blocked Coulson, raising his sword.
“Coulson, go for the jet, he’s mine!”
Agent Blake suddenly emerged, firing rapidly at Scarab Orphic and forcing him back.
The scene was very chaotic. Grateful, Coulson glanced at Blake and immediately led a few agents following Sea Cucumber Orphic into the plane.
“Get out!”
The Quinjet had personnel guarding it, who opened fire but were quickly killed by Sea Cucumber Orphic.
Sea Cucumber Orphic excitedly took a seat in the Quinjet.
“Woo-hoo! Take off!”
Sea Cucumber Orphic, surprisingly adept at piloting, started up the Quinjet.
He also activated the weapon system, aiming the Hellfire missiles at the front of the S.H.I.E.L.D. base.
“We can’t let him succeed!”
Coulson, with five agents, immediately advanced and opened fire on Sea Cucumber Orphic, not only knocking him from the pilot’s seat but also damaging the instruments.
The control system-damaged Quinjet suddenly roared to life, taking off!
Like a drunken flyer, the massive Quinjet broke through the hangar doors and swayed continuously as it headed toward the center of New York City!
“My God! What’s that? Are people from the Middle East flying planes again?”
“Lord! It’s not September 11th who is reenacting that disaster!”
“Look, the plane is heading straight for the Jerome Smart Building!”
New Yorkers, watching the uncontrollable plane, were not overly panicked, having experienced similar events before.
Everyone immediately took out their cell phones, watching the spectacle and trying to record the scene.
