Kamen Rider Marvel - Chapter 294
His gaze slowly shifted from the footage to the belt on the ground.
“Quick, secure the belt and transport it to the base,” he commanded.
Immediately, the agents began to move. They carefully placed the belt into a case and transported it via a particular aircraft to the S.H.I.E.L.D. base.
Having received the news, Nick Fury couldn’t wait to examine the belt. On his way to the lab, he encountered Alexander Pierce.
“Director Fury, what’s going on? Why are you in such a hurry?” Pierce asked curiously.
Nick Fury replied, “Remember the archaeological team we sponsored in South America? A few hours ago, they found a belt in some ruins, but then they were attacked by unknown creatures. The belt has just arrived, and I need to check it out. Care to join me, Minister Pierce?”
“Unknown creatures?” Pierce seemed to latch onto the key point. Muttering to himself, he nodded, “Sure, I’ll go with you.”
The two entered the lab, where three scientists were meticulously studying the belt. Nick Fury immediately asked, “So, is there any useful information?”
One scientist shook his head slightly. “This belt is unique. X-rays can’t penetrate it to reveal its internal structure, but we know it holds an unimaginable power.”
“Unimaginable power?” Nick Fury asked, intrigued. “What kind?”
The scientist handed him a tablet. “Director Fury, take a look at this.”
Pierce also leaned in to watch. The tablet displayed footage from the archaeological team’s camera. When they saw the ancient corpse animate upon the removal of the belt, both men were astonished.
“How is this possible? Why would a corpse move after all these years?” Fury asked.
The scientist offered his hypothesis. “Director Fury, our observations suggest that the belt may grant its wearer immunity to the ravages of time, preserving them perfectly even after thousands of years.”
“Immunity to aging? Is that even possible?” Fury was skeptical.
“That’s our best explanation. Otherwise, we can’t explain why the corpse moved or was so well-preserved,” the scientist replied.
Their curiosity somewhat sated, and Fury and Pierce continued watching the footage. The subsequent scenes of the massacre made Fury frown deeply, while Pierce’s face revealed a subtle smile.
“These creatures are too dangerous. If they were to appear in cities, it could result in significant casualties,” Fury said, turning to Pierce.
“Understood, Director Fury. What do you need me to do?” Pierce asked.
“I’ll take Coulson and Tendo to investigate the creatures’ whereabouts. In the meantime, I’ll need you to handle things here at S.H.I.E.L.D. Can I count on you?”
Pierce’s smile widened. “Of course, no problem at all.”
“Remember, if there are any breakthroughs in this research, notify me immediately,” Fury instructed.
“Understood,” Pierce replied.
As their conversation concluded, Fury gathered Tendo Souji, Coulson, and other senior agents to head to South America for further investigation.
Pierce watched as their ship departed, then returned to his office. He contemplated the scientist’s words about the belt’s power to prevent aging. He glanced at his wrist, the skin pale and wrinkled due to the memory device’s effects spreading throughout his body.
“This belt appeared at just the right time. I was wondering how to deal with this problem, and now the answer seems to fall into my lap. There’s no way I’m letting this slip through my fingers.”
However, Pierce knew he couldn’t take the belt himself, which would raise too many suspicions. He pulled out his phone, typed a message, and sent it. A smirk spread across his face—he had already devised a plan.
That night, after a day of fruitless research, the scientists decided to call it a day. They shut down the equipment and turned off the lights.
“See you tomorrow.”
“Yeah, see you tomorrow.”
One scientist left first, heading for the elevator. As he opened the door and prepared to exit, a large object flew toward him from the distance, causing him to dodge in fear.
To his horror, he realized it was a dead security guard. In front of him, dozens of Gurongi monsters were wreaking havoc. He tried to escape, but a spider Gurongi noticed him and shot a web in his direction.
In the nick of time, a shield flew from afar, striking the spider Gurongi in the face, causing its web to miss its target. The shield then glanced back to Captain America’s hand.
Steve Rogers eyed the spider Gurongi, confusion evident in his gaze. “What kind of monster is this?”
The Gurongi’s attention shifted from Steve to the belt on the equipment table. It began moving toward the belt, but Steve quickly realized its intention. Determined to prevent the monsters from taking the belt, he charged forward, throwing his shield with precision.
The spider Gurongi nonchalantly shot a giant web, catching the shield mid-air. In close quarters, Steve leaped forward and delivered a powerful punch to the monster’s face.
However, the Gurongi merely turned its head, unfazed by the attack. Its contemptuous gaze filled Steve with a nameless fear. His most robust punch had no effect, a blow that would have incapacitated an average person.
Determined, Steve threw another punch, but the Gurongi caught his fist effortlessly. Lifting Steve like a rag doll, the Gurongi flung him across the room, crashing into a cabinet and knocking the belt to the floor.
Both Steve and the Gurongi eyed the belt. The monster lunged, but Steve grabbed the belt first. As he touched it, the belt emitted a bright light. Steve’s mind was flooded with images of battles against other Gurongi.
The vision disappeared as quickly as it came. The Gurongi threw a punch, but Steve rolled away just in time.
“Let’s see what this belt can do,” he muttered, strapping it to his waist. The belt glowed brilliantly.
