Leading Naruto to Destroy the World - Chapter 21
“Is making money this easy? All you have to do is curse the demon fox and you get five thousand ryo!”
“Haha, even without the money, I’d still curse the demon fox.”
“Do you think that masked ninja will keep his promise?”
Thinking of the masked, cold, machine-like ninja, the few civilians shivered.
That guy was a terrifying ninja.
“He should. We’ve completed the task, and they probably won’t cheat us out of the reward.”
The leading civilian thought for a moment.
If he guessed correctly, the masked ninja came from a terrifying organization in the village.
Such an organization wouldn’t cheat them out of such a small reward.
As they talked, several shadows flashed, blocking them from the front and back.
“Spreading rumors and disrupting village order. Come with us to the Konoha jail!”
With a messy, spiky hairstyle and a stern face full of authority, the man’s eyes narrowed.
“You must be joking… we didn’t do anything!”
“There are so many people cursing the demon fox, why only catch us?”
“Yeah, why only us?”
The civilians recognized their captors as the Uchiha Police Force.
However, they still held a bit of luck in their hearts.
After all, the ones who recruited them to spread rumors weren’t ordinary ninjas.
“Still arguing! Get to the Konoha jail!”
With a rough handling, the civilians were pinned to the ground, unable to move.
“We’re sorry! Please spare us!”
The civilians finally realized they had messed with the wrong people, crying and begging for mercy.
The Uchiha, known as madmen, were nothing like the young demon fox.
They were known to be harsh!
“Stop!”
Swish, swish, swish!
Several Root members suddenly appeared, surrounding the Uchiha and the civilians.
The civilians, seeing the Root members, felt as if they had found their saviors, crying and begging for help.
“Sir, please save us. We don’t want to go to the Konoha jail!”
The two Uchiha glanced around at the Root members, showing no fear despite being outnumbered.
“When did Root get the right to interfere with the Police Force’s duties?”
Their tone was sharp, almost provocative.
As Uchiha clansmen, they hated Danzo and his Root the most.
Those guys were always looking for ways to target the Uchiha!
Thud, thud!
The sound of a cane tapping on stone grew closer, and a shadowy figure with a scarred face emerged from the alley’s shadows.
“Lord Danzo!”
The four Root members knelt on one knee simultaneously, their tones respectful.
“If Root has no authority, does this old man have any?”
Danzo ignored the Root members, his scarred, sinister eyes narrowing at the Uchiha before him.
Facing this terrifying pressure, even the usually rebellious Uchiha clansmen felt nervous.
The pressure from Danzo was immense.
It wasn’t something ordinary Uchiha clansmen could handle alone.
In the nearly suffocating tension, a sudden voice broke the silence.
“Danzo, my men are performing their duties. Do you intend to interfere?”
The two surrounded Uchiha’s eyes lit up, turning back in surprise.
“Elder Setsuna!”
Danzo’s eyes narrowed as he stared at the approaching figure.
Also, leaning on a cane, with an aged, wrinkled face, but unlike Danzo…
His dark eyes shone with an intensity that belied his age.
Uchiha Setsuna!
A hawkish elder of the Uchiha clan, second only to Fugaku!
“Danzo, these people are spreading malicious rumors and disrupting village order. My Uchiha Police Force is bringing them in for questioning to maintain Konoha’s peace. Is there a problem?”
His voice was calm yet forceful.
Despite this, Danzo didn’t speak.
He could have easily overpowered them and taken the civilians if it had been just the two Uchiha.
But with Uchiha Setsuna here, things were different.
This hawkish elder had a terrifyingly high status.
Claiming to inherit the will of Madara Uchiha, he had once planned a coup during the tenure of the Second Hokage, Tobirama Senju.
Although the coup failed, he was imprisoned.
His spirit was never broken, and he had been lying low ever since.
Two old men, their combined age over 120, leaning on canes, faced off at the entrance of the dark alley.
Finally, Danzo turned away, leaning on his cane as he left.
Uchiha Setsuna’s unique position represented nearly the entire hawkish faction of the Uchiha.
Now wasn’t the time to break ties.
Hmph! He should have put a curse seal on those civilians from the start.
Once the mission was completed, killing them would have prevented all this trouble.
But even if the Uchiha interrogated them and found out Root was behind it, it wouldn’t matter.
The Uchiha were inherently viewed as evil.
Their words wouldn’t be trusted.
Hiruzen would know how to decide.
As Danzo left, the Root members disappeared with a swoosh, following immediately.
The civilians under Uchiha’s control looked as if their souls had left their bodies.
Danzo was gone.
They were now in the hands of these mad Uchiha.
What would their fate be?
Little did they know that their fate would have been worse if they had fallen into Danzo’s hands.
They might not have even left bones behind!
“Elder Setsuna, why are we helping that person?”
Hesitating momentarily, the Uchiha clan member following Uchiha Setsuna finally asked, choosing his words carefully.
Although he didn’t directly name the person.
Everyone present knew who he was talking about.
Mirai!
The reason Danzo stirred up public opinion was to deal with Mirai.
Uchiha Setsuna arrested these rumor-spreading civilians to help Mirai.
This was a silent clash.
A confrontation between two major forces centered around Mirai.
But these Uchiha clan members couldn’t understand why their proud elder Setsuna would personally help Mirai.
The Uchiha and Mirai didn’t seem to interact much, did they?
“You don’t understand.”
Uchiha Setsuna’s dark eyes were deep.
“That guy is not as simple as he appears.”
“If we can cooperate with him, maybe the Uchiha clan’s predicament can truly change.”
Since Mirai visited the Uchiha territory, Uchiha Setsuna had a newfound respect for him.
Not long ago, Mirai fought with Danzo’s Root members.
The battlefield was near the Uchiha territory. He sent clan members to investigate, and the information they returned shocked him.
Mirai was more substantial than he was three years ago!
This conclusion both surprised and delighted him.
While the weak Fugaku hesitated.
As a hawk, he wouldn’t miss any opportunity!
Mirai had shown his worth.
Now, he had to respond.
He would personally grasp the future!
