- Chapter 4 - Sister-in-law, She Was a Very Gentle Person!
Blue Flash???
The moment Hiruzen Sarutobi mentioned this long-forgotten name, the eyes behind the masks of the surrounding Anbu widened in shock.
That was once a legend.
One of Konoha’s pride is the Dual Flashes.
The younger brother of the Yellow Flash, the Blue Flash!
Statistics showed that more enemies fell to him during the Third Shinobi War than to the Yellow Flash!
However, three years ago, the Blue Flash mysteriously disappeared without a trace.
Until today, many had forgotten his existence.
“Uncle…”
Naruto, following behind Mirai, nervously tugged at his sleeve.
At only three years old, he didn’t understand the meaning of “Blue Flash” nor why these Anbu were so tense.
He only knew that breaking into the Hokage’s office wasn’t something a good child should do.
“Mirai, I’m truly glad you’re back.”
Perhaps noticing Mirai’s unfriendly look, Hiruzen Sarutobi displayed a kind smile, his face exuding warmth like a spring breeze.
He completely ignored that moments ago. He was discussing with Danzo how to eliminate Mirai’s threat.
After glancing around the Hokage’s office, Mirai’s lips curled into a smile.
“I’m here for one reason.”
“To seek justice for my nephew!”
With the final words, his voice turned cold, and the temperature in the Hokage’s office seemed to drop several degrees.
Sarutobi’s smile became strained.
“I don’t understand what you’re talking about.”
“Naruto is the son of a hero. His life has always been under my care, and he has never lacked in living expenses. What justice is needed?”
Mirai let out a mocking laugh.
“Branded as a Demon Fox, subjected to the entire village’s bullying, is this the treatment a hero’s son deserves?”
Demon Fox…
Hearing those words, the eyes of the Anbu around Sarutobi changed.
Many of them knew Naruto’s identity as the Nine-Tails Jinchuriki. Some were even tasked with monitoring Naruto and had witnessed him being bullied by the villagers.
But as Anbu, their primary duty was to complete their missions, so they turned a blind eye.
One white-haired Anbu with a cat mask trembled slightly.
It was as if Mirai’s words had struck a chord with him.
After a long silence, Sarutobi finally spoke with a sigh.
“This was a necessary sacrifice to protect the Jinchuriki’s identity.”
“If Naruto’s identity were exposed, he would face many unnecessary dangers. For the sake of the village, I had no choice.”
Mirai’s eyes showed a trace of contempt.
“For the village, huh? What a grand excuse! I remember my brother had quite a fortune before he passed. Even if he died young, that wealth should rightfully belong to his son, Naruto.”
“Naruto is not yet of age, so his inheritance is being kept safe by me. Once he comes of age, it will naturally be handed over to him.”
Mirai’s harsh interruption cut off Sarutobi’s words.
“There’s no need to wait until Naruto comes of age. Now that I’m back, as Naruto’s uncle and his highest guardian, I have the right to manage his inheritance.”
He squinted at Sarutobi.
“What? Do you plan to embezzle that inheritance?”
Sarutobi was at a loss for words, his lips moving but unable to speak.
He couldn’t produce the inheritance!
After the Nine-Tails Night, the village suffered heavy casualties, and the compensation for the deceased ninja’s families and the village’s reconstruction were astronomical.
Minato’s portion of the inheritance had already been used for other purposes.
If Mirai insisted on claiming the inheritance, it would be his death sentence.
“Mirai, you know that after that night, the village needed rebuilding, and funds were required for various measures. I had no choice…”
Sarutobi licked his dry lips, but before he could finish, Mirai interrupted again.
“So, you really did misuse my brother’s inheritance…”
His eyes narrowed.
As the Fourth Hokage, Minato’s assets were significant, and his wife Kushina, the last of the Uzumaki clan, had inherited part of Uzumaki Mito’s wealth.
Such a large fortune was enough for Naruto to live extravagantly for several lifetimes, yet Sarutobi had taken it all.
Even if just a small portion was left!
Naruto’s childhood wouldn’t have been so miserable.
Seeing Mirai’s gaze grow colder, Sarutobi, knowing he was wrong, turned his attention to Naruto, forcing a kindly smile.
“Naruto, you know Grandpa Hokage has always treated you the best.”
Naruto shrank back, tightly clutching Mirai’s arm.
Even though he didn’t understand the conversation, if he had to choose, he would undoubtedly choose this uncle he had only known for two days.
Seeing his smile fall flat, Sarutobi felt a pang of bitterness.
How did it come to this?
I was here first.
As if remembering something, Mirai suddenly chuckled, looking at Sarutobi with a playful glint in his eye.
“Ha, embezzling my brother’s inheritance and letting his son suffer the village’s bullying. If sister-in-law were still here, she’d probably tear down the entire Hokage building!”
Sarutobi and Danzo shuddered involuntarily at the thought of that fiery red-haired figure.
Kushina was different from Minato!
If she were alive, with her personality, she might do something terrifying!
“I will reclaim every bit of Minato’s inheritance, starting with the house! If you insist on opposing, bear the consequences!”
The oppressive atmosphere in the Hokage’s office lingered.
In the silence of Sarutobi and Danzo, only the white-haired Anbu’s eyes were filled with complexity.
…
After leaving the Hokage building, Naruto couldn’t hold back his curiosity any longer.
This was the first time he had heard about his parents.
“Uncle… what kind of people were my parents?”
Naruto’s blue eyes shimmered with tears as he looked up at Mirai, biting his lip.
He desperately wanted to know about his parents.
Even the slightest bit.
That was a presence he had never felt in his life.
Mirai knelt, gently stroking Naruto’s hair.
“Your father was the village’s hero and the fastest man in the ninja world. As for looks, he was about seventy or eighty percent as handsome as your uncle. As for your mother…”
Memories flooded back, and Mirai’s eyes turned into crescent moons as he smiled.
“Your sister-in-law, she was a very gentle person!”
