Blood flowed like a river through the Root base, with dismembered limbs and chunks of flesh floating in the crimson current. The air was thick with an overwhelming stench of blood.
The remaining Root members, trembling in fear, slipped on the blood-soaked floor. Some tripped over their comrades’ severed limbs, falling into the sticky blood river.
“Damn it! Is this guy even human?”
“How can we possibly hold him off?!”

“We’ve tried everything, but this thing is just too stubborn,” one of the sealing team members explained, their voice trembling.
They had tried various methods, but the silver substance seemed to have no fixed form. It would seep through the gaps and return to Naruto’s body even when wrapped with sealing scrolls. With this thing protecting Naruto, it was like trying to seal an iron ball. No matter what they did, it was ineffective.
Seeing the sealing team struggle, Danzo’s anxiety grew.

Danzo gritted his teeth. He had wanted to remove the silver substance to ensure the process of applying the curse seal would be flawless. The substance’s behavior was simple: kill anyone who tried to harm Naruto.

His gaze fell on the members of the sealing team, and he ordered, in an uncompromising tone, “You lot, use the method I taught you and apply the curse seal on the Jinchuriki!”
The sealing team exchanged uneasy glances, hesitating to step forward.
“Now! Do you dare disobey my orders?”
Reluctantly, the sealing team stepped forward, fully aware of the risks. Several of their comrades had already been killed by the silver substance while attempting to seal it.
But as Root members, disobeying Danzo’s orders meant a fate worse than death.
Danzo smirked coldly. Applying the curse seal wasn’t tricky; the sealing team members would quickly master it. Even with the silver substance protecting Naruto, they would succeed eventually.
One by one, they would try. If one died, another would take their place.
Eventually, they would succeed.
Once the curse seal was in place, Naruto’s life was in his hands. No matter how much Mirai resisted, he was powerless.
Danzo fantasized about the future, his scarred face contorting into an ugly smile.
Just then, the laboratory door burst open.
“Lord Danzo! It’s terrible!”
The reporting Root member’s voice interrupted his thoughts.
“What is it? Didn’t I order not to be disturbed?”
Danzo’s irritation was evident.
The Root member swallowed hard, recalling something terrifying, his voice shaking.
“Our defenses are being breached one after another. Mirai is almost here!”
What?!
Danzo’s smile froze, his lone eye filled with shock and disbelief.
“How can he be so fast?”
“There are hundreds of Root members in the base! What are they doing?!”
The reporting Root member’s heart sank.
If only you could see it for yourself.
No number of ninjas could stop Mirai. The Root base had already become a living hell. He wouldn’t have made it to report if he hadn’t dashed.
As they spoke, the entire Root base suddenly shook violently. Danzo grabbed the laboratory equipment to steady himself, looking up at the falling debris with growing fear.
The laboratory was in the deepest part of the base. The situation outside must be dire if they could feel such a strong tremor here.
“Mirai, just how terrifying are you…”
Fear flickered in Danzo’s eye. He was invading the Root base alone, and the entire Root could not stop him.
He suddenly realized the enormity of the foe he had provoked.
His plan had been too idealistic. The Root base, his life’s work, might fall today.

There was still one last hope!
He turned, his eye bloodshot, staring at Naruto, surrounded by the silver fluid.
Hiruzen bit his pipe in Hokage’s office and noticed the ground trembling slightly. Dust fell from the ceiling.
He frowned.
“An earthquake?”
Why would there be an earthquake out of the blue?
Konoha wasn’t even in an earthquake zone. It was rare for one to occur here.
As he pondered, an ANBU appeared with a shocked expression.
“Lord Hokage, something terrible has happened!”
“What is it? Why are you so flustered?”
Hiruzen, still thinking about the earthquake’s origin, overlooked the urgency of the ANBU.
After multiple incidents involving Mirai, he had grown a strong heart.
“It’s the Root base! Something has happened to it!”
The Root base?
That’s Danzo’s domain.
Hiruzen’s face stiffened. The earthquake’s source seemed to be in the direction of the Root base.
His breath caught, realizing something was amiss.
“Tell me! What’s happened to the Root base?”
The ANBU swallowed hard.
“The entire Root base has collapsed…”
Clatter!
The pipe fell from Hiruzen’s mouth, landing on the Hokage’s desk.
He stared blankly.
What…what?!
