- Chapter 9 - Naruto’s Birthday, Uncle Gives You an Electromagnetic Railgun
Uchiha Compound.
Naka Shrine.
A tense clan meeting was underway.
To attend this meeting, one must possess the Three Tomoe Sharingan. All the elite members of the Uchiha clan were gathered here.
“Clan leader, why have you gathered us here?” Uchiha Inabi, sitting in the front row, asked.
The last meeting of this scale was about the relocation of the clan compound.
Sitting at the head, Uchiha Fugaku crossed his arms, and his face was marked with prominent tear troughs that exuded authority.
“I have received news that Mirai may visit the Uchiha compound.”
Mirai???
As soon as he spoke, a buzz of discussion broke out below.
This name had been dormant for so long that many Uchiha members had almost forgotten it.
Amid the commotion, a slightly hoarse, cold snort abruptly silenced the room.
“If I remember correctly, he’s the Fourth Hokage’s brother, isn’t he?”
All eyes in the shrine turned to the elderly figure sitting at the front, his body frail and slightly hunched, holding a cane to support his feeble form.
But those grey-brown eyes were sharp as a hawk’s, radiating an intensity that belied his age.
“Elder Setsuna, you are correct. He is indeed the Fourth Hokage’s brother.”
At these words, the shrine buzzed with discussion once again.
“The Fourth Hokage’s brother? Why is he coming to the Uchiha compound?”
“Wasn’t he missing for three years?”
“I heard he returned a few days ago and even caused a scene at the Hokage’s office.”
This familiar yet unfamiliar name sparked a wave of enthusiasm among the clan members.
The youngest Fourth Hokage in history, a prodigy, and his equally brilliant brother, Mirai.
During the Third Shinobi War, Konoha’s Dual Flashes were renowned throughout the ninja world.
They were like twin stars of Konoha, overshadowing even the most talented ninjas beside them.
But the Blue Flash mysteriously disappeared after the war, and the Yellow Flash died in the Nine-Tails incident.
These two prodigies, who dazzled an era, almost simultaneously faded from history.
Some sighed, others mourned.
As time passed, people gradually forgot his name.
Until recently, the Blue Flash made a powerful return, piercing the entire Hokage building and announcing his comeback.
This once-great prodigy reappeared in their sight.
“The Blue Flash… why is he coming to the Uchiha compound?”
Uchiha Setsuna’s hawk-like eyes narrowed.
He never had a favorable opinion of the Namikaze lineage.
He remembered that Minato was a puppet Hokage propped up by Hiruzen Sarutobi.
Unfortunately, before his wings could fully spread, he died in the Nine-Tails incident.
What’s different about this Blue Flash?
Besides…
His eyes narrowed further.
The Nine-Tails’ rampage that night was suspicious. Rumors in the village suggested the Nine-Tails’ pupils bore Sharingan-like markings, possibly controlled by the Sharingan.
If Mirai used this to blame the Uchiha for his brother and sister-in-law’s deaths, it would be very unfavorable for them.
“We don’t know yet, which is why I called you here to discuss countermeasures.”
Fugaku watched Setsuna’s reaction closely, his expression calm.
This elder’s seniority was terrifying, dating back to the time of Madara Uchiha.
He had once incited a rebellion during the Second Hokage’s reign, but he was imprisoned for years when it was exposed.
But this didn’t break his spirit, and he remained quietly dormant.
As clan leader, Fugaku often had to contend with his influence.
“Fugaku, you are still so weak. Just one Namikaze ninja has you tied up in knots.”
Uchiha Setsuna’s voice carried a hint of mockery.
Daring to speak to the clan leader this way, he was likely the only one in the Uchiha clan who could.
“Mirai is no ordinary ninja. Having interacted with him, I understand this well.”
Facing Uchiha Setsuna’s ridicule, Fugaku remained emotionless, his tone steady.
He and Mirai were contemporaries and interacted frequently. This man, always smiling, was far more terrifying than Minato.
If he hadn’t mysteriously disappeared back then, the Nine-Tails incident might never have happened.
“Is that so? Now I’m quite interested.”
Uchiha Setsuna gripped his cane, a hint of a smile appearing in his hawk-like eyes.
He wanted to see what was so special about this man that Fugaku held in such high regard.
…
“Uncle, why is tonight’s dinner so lavish?”
At the dinner table, Naruto’s mouth watered at the sight of the spread, and he rubbed his hands eagerly.
Although their dinners were usually hearty, tonight’s was exceptionally so, especially with a giant cake in the middle.
“Because today is your birthday, silly nephew!”
With a crisp flick to Naruto’s forehead, Mirai’s eyes turned into crescents with his smile.
This was probably Naruto’s first birthday celebration.
“My… birthday…”
Naruto rubbed his forehead, his blue eyes filled with curiosity.
The concept of a birthday was very distant to him.
It seemed like no one had ever celebrated his birthday before.
Naruto’s eyes filled with tears, and he couldn’t help but sniffle.
“I used to see other kids celebrating their birthdays through the window and felt so envious. I wished Grandpa Hokage would celebrate mine, but he was too busy and refused.”
“Thank you, Uncle.”
Mirai smiled and ruffled Naruto’s bright blond hair.
“Whatever Hiruzen Sarutobi can give you, I can give you. And what he can’t, I can too.”
“Naruto, make a wish!”
“A wish…”
“I want to become Hokage and be acknowledged by everyone!”
Hokage, huh?
Mirai smiled brightly.
Just like your father’s wish!
But you’ll have to get in line behind Uncle.
Because Uncle wants to be Hokage, too!
“Oh, and here’s your birthday present.”
Mirai pulled out a scroll.
“A present?”
Naruto eagerly opened it and froze.
The scroll contained diagrams he couldn’t understand, seemingly mechanical designs with two long parallel tracks and something resembling a trigger in the middle.
“An electromagnetic railgun. With this weapon for protection, I can feel a bit more at ease about you.”
Mirai smiled warmly.
Mastering electromagnetism gave him extraordinary technological prowess.
Each upgrade of the Electromagnetic Tree in his mind brought new technological advancements.
The electromagnetic railgun was a weapon he unlocked long ago.
Since returning to the village, he had been worried about Naruto’s future.
Though a Jinchuriki, his personality was kind and gentle.
Could he survive in the ninja world?
Would he stay a Genin forever?
No, he had to arm Naruto.
He couldn’t let others bully his nephew.
If there’s a kind of weakness, it’s called “Uncle thinks you’re weak”!
The electromagnetic railgun was just the beginning. Exoskeleton armor, mechs, floating cannons, star destroyers… he would arm Naruto to the teeth.
Scientific research should start early, ensuring Naruto a head start in life.
The fire of doting affection blazed in Mirai’s eyes!
