Lee Sin's Bizzare Adventure - Chapter 11
Diavolo felt humiliated.
He had killed so many people, but never had anyone been able to remain as calm and composed in front of him as Lee Sin did. It was as if his vaunted invincible ability and his supreme authority as the dark emperor were being disdainfully ignored.
“Damn it!!”
Because explanations and conversations don’t consume time, Diavolo didn’t actually pause after time erasure ended.
He immediately made a lethal move against Lee Sin, who had only 7% health left:
“King Crimson, kill him!”
At this moment, Lee Sin’s head was mere millimeters from King Crimson’s hand.
A light squeeze from King Crimson, and Lee Sin’s head would be like a watermelon accidentally dropped to the ground, smashed into a sticky, red pulp.
But Lee Sin moved even faster.
This was the most crucial moment of his escape plan; he had long been prepared to act first:
“Safeguard!”
In an instant, a translucent shield of shimmering light suddenly appeared around Lee Sin.
It was like a large, rapidly inflating bubble, enveloping him.
This was the second skill he had learned upon reaching level 2:
**”Safeguard / Iron Will.”**
**[Safeguard]:** “Lee Sin dashes to a friendly target, shielding them both for a small amount of damage for 2 seconds. After casting Safeguard, Lee Sin can cast Iron Will within the next 3 seconds.”
(Range: 100 meters)
(Cooldown: 12 seconds)
**[Iron Will]:** “Lee Sin gains 25% life steal for 4 seconds.”
Safeguard was Lee Sin’s second mobility skill, but without a “friendly target” nearby, he couldn’t use it to dash to safety.
So, he used Safeguard to give himself a somewhat useful shield.
“This…”
“Another new Stand ability?”
Seeing the translucent shield around Lee Sin, Diavolo was somewhat surprised.
However, in the very next moment…
That seemingly formidable and magical light membrane shattered.
King Crimson merely applied a bit more force, effortlessly breaking the annoying white shield.
“Hahaha.”
Diavolo laughed:
“A layer of bubble that looks impressive but is useless, trying to stop my King Crimson?”
“You’re underestimating my power, baldy…”
He was mocking Lee Sin when he suddenly sensed something amiss:
No…
The bald guy had experienced King Crimson’s power firsthand. If this was his trump card, he wouldn’t be this calm.
So, is he bluffing, or does he have another trick?
What ability does he have that can help him escape from King Crimson?
Diavolo was filled with doubt.
And Lee Sin immediately provided an unexpected answer:
“Resonating Strike!”
With a loud shout, Lee Sin suddenly shot into the sky at an unexpected angle, like a rocket launched.
His speed was so fast that even King Crimson found it difficult to keep up.
And the shield that barely withstood King Crimson’s attack bought him precious escape time.
Thus, Lee Sin ascended into the sky.
King Crimson’s range was only two meters, which meant it could only operate within a two-meter radius around Diavolo.
And Diavolo himself, despite being in excellent physical shape, was still just a man.
He couldn’t stop Lee Sin, who had suddenly taken to the sky.
“How…”
“How is this possible?!”
Diavolo was rarely shocked:
“How can he fly? Is this another new Stand ability?”
“No…”
“This isn’t a new Stand ability.”
Quickly, Diavolo discerned something from Lee Sin’s overly straight flight trajectory:
“This is his original ability, which he calls ‘Sonic Wave / Resonating Strike.'”
“Except…”
He carefully recalled the information about Lee Sin’s abilities:
“Doesn’t this ability require marking a target with a light orb before he can use the high-speed dash?”
“I’ve been guarding against his escape…”
“So when did he launch the marking orb?”
“Could it be…”
A light bulb went off in Diavolo’s head: “Was it that time?!”
“Hahahaha…”
Not yet far from the ground, Lee Sin began his own ‘explanation time’ from the sky:
“Diavolo, you guessed it right:”
“The Sonic Wave you dodged at the start of the fight was my true trump card!”
“Because that Sonic Wave wasn’t aimed at you at all—”
“It was aimed at a seagull perched about 100 meters behind you on the eaves!”
“I had already marked that seagull with Sonic Wave, waiting for it to fly higher and farther so it could carry me to escape.”
“As for the later gun ambush and shield, those were just distractions.”
“I never counted on successfully ambushing you or using the shield to protect myself. I wanted to divert your attention, making you believe I had exhausted my trump cards!”
King Crimson was fast.
Lee Sin’s only ability that could match that speed was the second dash of Resonating Strike.
And the danger was that his fragile body couldn’t withstand King Crimson’s swift iron fists.
So he had to precisely mark the target with Sonic Wave and make Diavolo drop his guard.
Fortunately, Lee Sin succeeded.
He perfectly played the role of someone on the brink of desperation, using one small trick after another to make Diavolo relax his already low vigilance.
“Damn it…”
Hearing this, Diavolo’s face twisted:
“I couldn’t foresee this future!”
The ability to foresee the future sounds invincible but has limitations.
Firstly, Diavolo’s “Epitaph” can only read the future ten seconds ahead.
Secondly, as a Stand with an E in durability, King Crimson’s powerful future-prediction ability can’t be used indefinitely in succession.
Lastly, and most importantly, his “Epitaph” functions like a movie, only showing partial third-person perspectives centered on himself.
The information in one scene is very limited and can easily mislead the observer.
So, when Diavolo used his ability earlier…
He only saw Lee Sin using Sonic Wave against him but couldn’t see the light orb hitting a seagull 100 meters away after passing his head.
“Damn it, damn it…”
“My King Crimson’s invincible Stand ability was outsmarted by this bald guy?!”
Diavolo raged, but he was powerless.
Now, Diavolo could only watch as Lee Sin, using a seagull as a beacon, flew higher into the sky.
Lee Sin’s escape was a done deal, and not even his “time erasure” could stop it.
“Hahahaha.”
While Diavolo fumed on the ground, Lee Sin, soaring higher, continued to rub it in:
“Surprised, aren’t you—”
“This is my escape route, Diavolo!”
