Lee Sin's Bizzare Adventure - Chapter 20
“Squalo is dead…”
Diavolo impatiently dismissed the crying and vengeful Diavolo over the phone and then fell into a silence of his own.
It wasn’t grief for the fallen subordinate but rather humiliation for himself:
Half an hour had passed, more than half an hour!
Someone dared to glimpse his throne and still managed to survive over half an hour!
It felt like being bitten by a dirty, lowly, cunning, and bald rat, and not only failing to kill the beast on the spot but letting it slip away into the dark corners of the house.
Truly disgusting.
Diavolo’s eyes were filled with murderous intent, his magenta hair swaying in anger without any wind:
“I will kill him. I must kill this pest!”
“Escaping once means nothing…”
“The entirety of Italy is under my control. Let’s see how long you can keep running!”
Even though Lee Sin escaped, there were two pieces of good news that temporarily soothed Diavolo:
First, Lee Sin was blind during their meeting; he never saw Diavolo’s true appearance.
Second, both the yacht Lee Sin was on and the speedboat Squalo piloted had GPS tracking devices installed.
With the organization’s almost omnipotent control over Italy, Diavolo could easily obtain real-time location information on all vessels at sea.
“The battle happened… here.”
Diavolo opened his laptop and pulled up the vessel tracking system:
“After the two boats met in this sea area, the yacht that bald guy was on stopped moving.”
“He must have taken Squalo’s speedboat and then sailed it to…”
He scrutinized the map of southern Italy on the screen, roughly tracing the speedboat’s course from the location data points:
“Naples?”
“Is he heading to Naples?”
Given the many scattered small islands, this conclusion couldn’t be fully confirmed yet.
Nevertheless, based on the general direction Lee Sin was heading, his destination seemed to be the southern Italian port city of Naples, situated beneath Mount Vesuvius.
“Why is he going to Naples?”
“Does he have accomplices there?”
With too little information, Diavolo couldn’t deduce Lee Sin’s intentions.
After some contemplation, he decided to focus on dealing with Lee Sin first:
“From this sea area to Naples takes at least six to seven hours.”
“And my personal guard members are scattered across Italy on various missions. Those who can reach Naples this afternoon are…”
Although the organization had numerous capable personnel, Diavolo’s thoughts still turned to his direct subordinates.
Since the mission involved his true identity and Stand ability, he preferred not to involve those untrustworthy and often treacherous organization executives unless absolutely necessary.
Recalling the whereabouts of his personal guard, he found that only one member was near Naples:
“Carne?”
“Him?”
Diavolo frowned deeply.
Carne’s Stand ability was weak.
If not for Carne’s fanatical loyalty, making him a reliable tool, Diavolo wouldn’t have considered him for his personal guard.
However…
Carne had mentioned before that his Stand’s true power only manifested after his death.
At that point, his Stand would be invincible.
Some Stands indeed had extremely restrictive activation conditions, and those that could persist posthumously weren’t unheard of.
But Diavolo remained skeptical of Carne’s claim of “invincibility”:
After all…
You haven’t died before, so how can you be sure your Stand becomes invincible after death?
Even knowing Carne’s Stand had a strong post-mortem activation, Diavolo couldn’t fully trust his combat effectiveness against Lee Sin.
After thorough consideration, he chose to trust himself:
“The flight from Palermo to Naples takes only an hour.”
“If I depart from Punta Raisi Airport now, I should reach Naples port before that bald guy and intercept him when he lands.”
“This time, I won’t repeat my previous mistakes.”
“However…”
“Just in case, I should give Carne a command first.”
…………………………………………………………………………
Outside Naples, in an inconspicuous hostel.
“Mr. Carne, please…”
“Don’t kill me.”
A man lay powerless in his own blood, his voice hoarse with pain:
“Those explosives and weapons were ordered by the boss to be moved to Naples; it wasn’t my decision.”
“Trust me…”
“They’re hidden in a warehouse at the port in Naples. I didn’t sell them.”
“You can check now… I… I really didn’t betray the organization!”
He struggled to lift his head, begging for mercy from the stout man in front of him.
But Carne remained unmoved:
“The boss ordered you to?”
“Heh…”
“You’re just a logistics grunt, yet you’ve become arrogant enough to falsely invoke the boss’s name and sell organization supplies!”
Carne raised his pillar-like leg, stomping on the bloodied traitor’s head:
“Damn… damn!”
“Do you think coughing up the stolen goods will absolve you?”
“That’s the boss, the almighty boss…”
“You filthy worm dare to desecrate the boss’s sacred name with your filthy, dung-eating mouth!”
Like a zealot witnessing the desecration of his deity, Carne was nearly driven mad with rage.
His entire flabby body trembled with anger:
“Speak!”
“Who are your accomplices? Do you have any more partners?”
“Speak! Speak! Speak!”
Carne’s voice was full of frenzy, and the leg stomping on the traitor’s head gradually increased in pressure.
Finally… *pop*!
The human head couldn’t withstand the weight of a bear.
“Ugh….”
Carne’s expression froze.
Then, he viciously lifted his foot and stomped repeatedly on the unrecognizable mass:
“Damn… damn!”
“Who gave you permission to die…”
“I haven’t extracted your accomplices’ names or completed the boss’s task. How dare you die!!”
“Damn…”
“This was a task directly given by the boss!”
Carne’s enraged roars echoed in the room, and just then, his phone rang.
Carne glanced at the caller ID, and a fanatical gleam appeared on his twisted face:
“Boss?”
“Why… why did you call personally?”
At this moment, his tone was as reverent as a disciple praying to a deity:
“Report, boss!”
“The parasite who stole organization supplies under your name has been dealt with. Please forgive me; I couldn’t extract the names of his accomplices. But the stolen weapons and explosives are supposedly hidden in a warehouse at the Naples port…”
“That’s not important.”
“A mere thief doesn’t need further investigation.”
“Now, I have a more important task for you, Carne. You must give it your all.”
Diavolo’s oppressive voice came through.
In Carne’s ears, it was as holy as a king’s decree to a knight:
“Give it my all… give it my all…”
“Boss…”
He eagerly, expectantly asked: “Does this mean you finally need my insignificant life?”
Diavolo hesitated briefly.
Though Carne was a useful tool, with the situation this dire, he had no reason to spare a tool’s life:
“Yes.”
“For my sake, you will die.”
