Lee Sin's Bizzare Adventure - Chapter 22
Due to the presence of Squalo’s corpse on the boat, Lee Sin found it inconvenient to land at a crowded city pier. However, as a world-famous Mediterranean tourist city, Naples’ coastline had scarcely any unoccupied spots.
He instructed Andrew to pilot the speedboat along the outer sea of Naples for quite a while before finally locating a secluded coastal park devoid of tourists and bystanders. This place was near Mount Vesuvius, allowing a clear view of its dark, ash and basalt-covered slopes from the sea.
The park’s seashore was bordered by a dense forest, giving the beach a rare sense of tranquility. Beyond this dense forest, several hundred meters away, lay a coastal highway. Cars occasionally passed by on this road, suggesting that someone might come by at any time.
“Um, Mr. Lee Sin?” Andrew’s voice trembled with nerves. “People might come by here at any moment. You… you’re not thinking of bringing that body ashore, are you? If anyone sees us, we’ll be in big trouble.”
“Ha, don’t worry,” Lee Sin said with a kind smile that sent shivers down Andrew’s spine. “Leaving him with a complete corpse is the extent of my goodwill. I’m not sentimental enough to give him a proper burial. The body will stay here; someone will come to clean it up.”
“And…” he added, his tone turning cold, “now that we’ve arrived in Naples, you, the boatman, are of no further use to me.”
“No… no further use?” Cold sweat dotted Andrew’s forehead.
“Exactly. You are of no use to me anymore,” Lee Sin reiterated, his tone harsh. “Useless people shouldn’t block my view. Now, get out of here!”
“And…” Lee Sin pointed to the vast ocean behind them, giving a bizarre command, “don’t go ashore with me. Dive back into the water and swim out to sea!”
“Huh?” Andrew couldn’t fathom Lee Sin’s reasoning, but under Lee Sin’s menacing gaze, he dared not hesitate. Quickly, he followed the instruction, diving into the sea and swimming as far as he could.
Watching Andrew’s distant figure, Lee Sin sighed softly, “You were hard-earned from the flames; can’t let you die for nothing. Go back and sail your boat… You’re not up to par to be my ‘teammate’.”
After this puzzling soliloquy, Lee Sin turned towards the dense forest, sensing a presence. “Seriously? No time to breathe?” he muttered. “Looks like I’ve really angered some big shots this time…”
“Hey, come out!” Lee Sin shouted into the seemingly empty forest. “Your breathing is heavy, and your steps are like a bear’s—you’re probably a fat guy, right? I could hear you approaching the shore from hundreds of meters away. No need to waste your effort hiding!”
“…” The forest remained silent.
But soon, in a rustle of leaves and branches, a large, obese figure emerged from the shadows of the forest.
He was a grotesque, bloated man with grayish skin and an evil, eerie demeanor.
“So it’s you?” Lee Sin’s gaze was piercing, trying to glean useful information from the man’s expressions and actions.
However, the newcomer had no intention of communication.
The moment he saw Lee Sin, he began laughing maniacally, “Heh heh heh… It’s you. You’re the prey I’ve been waiting for.”
As he approached Lee Sin, his whole body jiggled with each step, his neck folds wobbling grotesquely. Despite his comical gait, his sinister aura and the madness in his eyes made him terrifying.
Finally, just a few steps away from Lee Sin, the fat man’s neck and chest began to convulse unnaturally. Horrific lumps of flesh sprouted from his body, merging into a humanoid blood-flesh monstrosity.
“Indeed… a Stand attack!” Seeing this nauseating spectacle, Lee Sin confirmed the attacker’s identity as Diavolo’s Stand user.
Prepared for battle, he activated his data visualization mode and swiftly drew his loaded pistol, firing three shots at the opponent without hesitation.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The shots were close-range and precise. Three scorching metal bullets tore through the air, ripping into the obese man’s flesh, creating three fatal cavities.
“Argh!” The enemy howled in pain, his bear-like body trembling violently. He staggered back, seemingly on the verge of collapse from the severe gunshot wounds.
Yet Lee Sin remained wary.
“Something’s off… It can’t be this simple.” Though the ambush went better than he had planned, it made him more alert.
“This fat guy took on the mission to kill me alone and dared to face me head-on, so he must not be a pushover. He didn’t even flinch or try to dodge—he didn’t plan to avoid my bullets at all! Obviously…”
“His Stand ability must let him ‘ignore’ the damage from bullets! So, does this ability involve ‘super regeneration’ or simply ‘physical enhancement’?”
Lee Sin analyzed, only to be stunned as the fat man gasped a few times, then collapsed lifelessly into a pool of blood.
The system notification rang in his mind.
“Ding! Successfully killed Carne, member of the organization’s guard. Gained experience…”
“What?” Lee Sin’s face froze. “Dead… truly dead?!”
People could fake death, but the system’s kill confirmation couldn’t be faked. Carne, the mysterious enemy, was genuinely, completely dead.
He had come alone, without launching an attack or saying anything substantial, just to die silently.
“What’s going on…” Lee Sin’s face was full of confusion. “Was he here to deliver a head?”
