Lee Sin's Bizzare Adventure - Chapter 27
“A seat… turned into a bird?”
Sensing the bird that had breathing, a heartbeat, and was flapping its wings, Lee Sin couldn’t comprehend that it had transformed from a lifeless seat.
“Wait… this ability to create life…”
“Could it be…?”
He suddenly remembered the few episodes of JOJO he had watched, recalling the Stand ability of the protagonist, Giorno Giovanna.
But now was not the time for Lee Sin to reminisce about the plot.
At this moment, the seemingly tireless flesh blob had already been attracted by Gold Experience’s rapid punches.
It abandoned the innocent student it had been gnawing on, turning towards Gold Experience and Giorno like a ravenous wolf.
And just then…
Gold Experience stopped its punching motion, entering a stationary state.
At the same time, the bird created by Giorno’s Stand ability flapped its wings frantically, as if it had been turned on high speed.
The bird, which was only about 10cm long, instantly took off with a powerful lift generated by the rapid wing flaps.
It flew out of the bus, which no longer had a rear windshield, and became a swift shadow.
The flesh blob seemed to have a penchant for the new over the old.
Upon witnessing the bird’s incredible speed, it quickly reacted.
“Swish…”
With a grotesque squelching sound, the flesh blob twisted mid-air, making a 90-degree turn to follow the bird’s path.
As the bird soared into the sky, the grotesque, immortal flesh blob leapt out of the bus in pursuit.
“A Common Swift.”
“The fastest bird in flight.”
“It has an average speed of 110-190 km/h, with a maximum sprint speed of 352.5 km/h.”
Giorno calmly explained:
“Birds have an instinct to sense and evade danger.”
“As long as there’s a dangerous ‘predator’ nearby, they will do their utmost to fly away.”
“In this process, the Common Swift naturally becomes the bait to lure the monster away…”
“……”
Before he could finish, Giorno’s voice was abruptly cut off.
Because the bird, in which he had placed so much hope, was caught by the flesh blob within just a second of taking flight.
The flesh blob, transforming mid-leap, expanded like a giant net from a net gun, quickly and accurately enveloping its target.
In the next moment, the Common Swift was dead.
The bird, created just moments ago, was silenced without experiencing the skies, becoming the monster’s nourishment.
At this time, although the bus driver had sensed the danger and hit the brakes, the school bus had not fully stopped.
The bus was still moving quickly.
This meant that, in the eyes of the insatiable flesh blob, everyone on the bus was its prime target.
“Damn it!”
Seeing the monster turn back towards the bus, Giorno finally lost his earlier composure:
“The Common Swift was caught within a second; just how fast is this thing?!”
“This…”
Lee Sin explained helplessly:
“From my observation,
it adjusts its speed to always be slightly faster than its target.”
“This means… its speed might be limitless.”
“Limitless?”
Hearing this dreadful news, Giorno’s face turned grave.
The flesh blob had already leapt back, clinging to the rear and sides of the bus’s outer shell.
It continued to squirm, stretch, and spread across the bus’s exterior, forming a grotesque pink flesh blanket.
“It’s not attacking us? Wait…”
Lee Sin’s face changed.
He could swear that not even the supposedly invincible Diavolo had made him feel this kind of fear:
“It’s devouring the car engine!”
“No, more accurately, it’s consuming the engine’s energy!”
“Damn…”
He spoke with difficulty:
“I thought this monster could only grow by devouring life. I didn’t expect it could use ‘energy’ as its food!”
“This monster is still growing!”
The reality was even worse than Lee Sin had described:
The bus, having lost its engine power, came to a stop.
Having consumed the bus’s engine energy, the rapidly expanding flesh blob extended its twisted limbs to every corner it could reach.
Wheels, chassis, seats, ceiling…
Everywhere was covered in that grotesque pink flesh blanket.
The entire back half of the bus had become a nursery for the malevolent flesh.
If the first attack was the blob invading the bus, then now it felt more like Giorno was trapped in the monster’s lair.
To make matters worse…
Besides Lee Sin, there was a group of helpless people who couldn’t even see the enemy:
“Ah!!”
“It’s haunted, run!”
The bus had barely stopped when the terrified middle school students and the equally frightened driver started fleeing the bus.
“Hey, don’t move!”
Lee Sin tried to stop them from courting death, but the panicked civilians didn’t heed his warning.
The flesh blob quivered with excitement.
It swiftly extended its tendrils towards the fleeing humans.
“No choice…”
“Gold Experience!”
Seeing the impending slaughter, Giorno resorted to his previous tactic to buy time:
“Muda muda muda!”
Gold Experience unleashed a flurry of punches.
The second, third, and fourth Common Swifts were born from the golden punches.
Sensing the danger from the flesh blob, the swifts flew out in three different directions.
But it was no use.
The incomprehensible flesh blob defied common sense.
Facing three targets fleeing in different directions at similar speeds, it twisted violently, extending three long, powerful tendrils.
The three swifts let out sharp cries, then quickly dissolved into the expanding flesh blob.
After consuming these poor birds, the blob grew slightly larger again.
“Muda muda muda muda!”
Giorno commanded Gold Experience to create more bird decoys.
But he knew this was only a temporary solution.
He felt like he was feeding scraps of meat to a starving tiger. When the “scraps” ran out, the tiger would turn on the feeder.
“This can’t go on!”
Giorno said urgently to Lee Sin:
“Continuously using my ability at this intensity, I’ll soon be exhausted.”
“If we don’t find another way to lure this monster away, we’re doomed…”
“No…”
He suddenly paused, then spoke meaningfully:
“Bald man.”
“My Gold Experience and I have become the bait for the monster.”
“It’s focused on me now. If you want to escape, you can leave me behind.”
“……”
Lee Sin fell silent.
Then, with a complex tone, he asked: “Kid.”
“You could have used ordinary people as bait and left yourself.”
“So… why stand up and seek death?”
“Well…”
The continuous use of his ability had tired Giorno:
“Like how people sometimes unconsciously take things handed to them, I didn’t think much at the time.”
“Is that so?”
“Choosing the hard way over the easy path, you really are a foolish guy.”
“In that case…”
Lee Sin stood firmly by Giorno’s side:
“I can’t let a kid outshine me.”
