Lee Sin's Bizzare Adventure - Chapter 29
Giorno keenly observed that as the flesh blob’s pressure and constriction increased, the “green bar” above Lee Sin’s head was shrinking continuously.
It was just like the health bars floating above characters’ heads in video games.
“Could it be…?”
“Does that represent his vitality?”
Giorno roughly guessed the meaning of the green bar above Lee Sin’s head but quickly realized from the rapidly decreasing health that the situation was dire:
Lee Sin’s health seemed to be running low.
When escaping from the forest, the damned flesh blob had already whittled down more than half of his health.
Luckily, during the minute or so on the bus, other people helped attract the monster’s attention, allowing him to slowly recover his health back to the 80% safety line thanks to his 0.5%/s health regeneration.
But this still wasn’t enough.
After all, this flesh blob was no longer the same as it was a minute ago.
A minute ago, the creature was probably not much larger than a pig.
Now, after devouring the bus engine’s energy, it had swelled to the size of a car.
Being constrained, squeezed, and devoured by such a massive monster, Lee Sin certainly didn’t feel good.
82%… 61%… 42%…
His health started plummeting at an alarming rate.
Finally, when his health dropped to a critically low 30%, just two more seconds away from death, Lee Sin made his move:
“Resonating Strike!!”
His form swiftly transformed into an intangible “phantom,” instantly escaping… no… ignoring the blob’s restraints.
Lee Sin’s body phased straight through the thick, resilient flesh of the blob, shooting into the sky with an exaggerated speed.
And his target, needless to say, was the marked fat pigeon from the beginning.
“So that’s it!”
Giorno understood Lee Sin’s plan.
Lee Sin was busy now, so Giorno took on the role of commentator:
“The ability he’s using now is the same method he used when he first boarded the bus.”
“Back then, he could phase through the bus’s shell and enter directly. Now, he can similarly escape the blob’s grasp!”
At this moment, the blob also reacted.
Lee Sin’s Resonating Strike moved faster than a bullet train at full speed, but this incomprehensible monster erupted with a terrifying speed that matched Lee Sin’s.
It rapidly contracted its flesh, transforming into rubber, into a spring, then using its powerful elasticity, it shot into the sky.
“It’s useless!”
Giorno instinctively shook his head:
“Even if it catches up to the bald man mid-air, it can’t stop him from escaping.”
“Because in this charging state, his body is absolutely ‘intangible’ and cannot be restrained.”
Just as Giorno thought:
The blob, with its limitless speed, executed an astonishing leap, catching up with the soaring Lee Sin mid-air.
However, it was in vain.
It was like a monkey trying to grasp the reflection of the moon in water, managing to touch Lee Sin but immediately phasing through the intangible form.
Lee Sin’s ascension was unaffected, only losing a bit of health.
His health was now down to 22%.
But it didn’t matter, because the blob could no longer catch up with Lee Sin.
Yes, even with its superior speed, it couldn’t follow Lee Sin into the sky like it had chased from the forest to the bus.
Because….
“You can’t fly, can you?!”
“Hahahaha….”
Lee Sin laughed with relief:
“A blob is still just a blob. No matter how fast you are, you can’t grow wings!”
“Jumping alone won’t catch my ‘skyward flight’!”
This was the core of his escape plan—
His escape target wasn’t land but the unreachable sky for the blob.
Lee Sin risked himself as bait to buy the fat pigeon time to fly higher and further.
At this moment….
The pigeon marked by Resonating Strike was approximately 150 meters high in the sky.
Using the same skill, Lee Sin had ascended to about 60 meters.
Though the blob’s leap was incredibly powerful, it exhausted its momentum after touching Lee Sin once, entering free fall at about 40 meters.
“Using an ‘intangible’ Stand ability to escape into the sky, distracting the monster and ensuring his safety from pursuit.”
“A perfect escape plan…”
Giorno genuinely admired it.
However, just as he breathed a sigh of relief for Lee Sin, something went wrong.
The blob, which had started to fall, suddenly convulsed and rapidly morphed mid-air at a horrifying speed.
It was like a dough ball, initially round and large, now stretched and lengthened under a great force.
Then, it abruptly stopped falling and surged upward.
This wasn’t because the blob grew wings but because it catapulted itself into the air.
Yes….
It used its flexible body as a slingshot, launching part of itself as a projectile toward Lee Sin.
Ordinary creatures would die if they lost half of their body, but this blob wouldn’t.
It had no organs, no bones, no brain, just a mass of twisted, evil flesh.
So, even discarding half its flesh as a tool, it continued to survive.
Thus….
The discarded part of the blob fell powerlessly, turning to ash once it reached a certain distance from the main body.
The main part, shot like a projectile, was now rocketing toward Lee Sin at a frightening speed.
Its speed was astounding.
Even with Lee Sin’s Resonating Strike, he couldn’t outpace the relentless pursuit.
“Damn…”
“It can boost itself like a multi-stage rocket, propelling its ‘warhead’ higher!”
Lee Sin was taken aback.
He realized the harsh reality—he was about to be caught.
Worse, his health was down to 22%.
As an expert at surviving with minimal health, Lee Sin knew his exact limits.
This 22% was his insurance, calculated to account for the pigeon’s altitude and the damage from a potential fall.
If he had a few percent less, even if the blob didn’t devour him, he might die from the fall.
This meant….
At this moment, Lee Sin couldn’t lose any health.
If the blob touched him, he was done for.
It was a deadlock.
Because Lee Sin, still in Resonating Strike’s charge state, couldn’t control himself.
He could only watch as the blob, like a rocket, closed in.
In the next moment, the blob would catch him.
He was about to die.
Unless…
Unless something faster appeared to draw the blob’s attention.
But, to find something faster than Resonating Strike in the sky, in this brief moment…
Was it possible?
……
Of course, it was!
“Though your pursuit method was surprising, being caught mid-air…”
Lee Sin, in extreme tension, felt an intense thrill:
“Was also part of my plan!”
Giorno and the mindless blob didn’t notice, but Lee Sin did:
The sky was filled with a sound.
A sound that covered the city, sweeping across a large area.
And just as the blob was about to catch Lee Sin, this tsunami-like roar reached its peak.
“That is…”
Giorno finally looked beyond the battlefield, beyond Lee Sin and the blob.
He noticed the object causing this tumultuous roar, flying low over the city:
“That’s the supersonic jet that’s been flying over Naples these days!”
