Lee Sin's Bizzare Adventure - Chapter 31
In the sky, a conspicuous white parachute flower quickly bloomed.
Immediately following, the damaged fighter jet, abandoned by its pilot, completely lost control.
Carrying the blob that clung to its fuselage, constantly absorbing engine energy, it plummeted heavily downwards—towards the direction opposite to the ocean.
Boom!
Several kilometers away, at the foot of Mount Vesuvius, a muffled explosion echoed.
Then, an ominous plume of smoke slowly rose from that direction.
Giorno and Lee Sin exchanged glances, momentarily trapped in an awkward silence.
“Um… Mr. Baldy?”
After a moment, Giorno broke the silence first:
“Didn’t you say the pilot would definitely steer the plane into the sea?”
“Uh…”
Lee Sin answered awkwardly:
“Well… isn’t that what the news always reports?”
“Pilots sacrificing themselves to avoid residential areas… I thought that was their professional code.”
“Which news did you read?”
Giorno rubbed his forehead helplessly: “I’ve never heard such stories.”
“Well…”
Lee Sin’s expression became more embarrassed: “Definitely not American news.”
“Alright…”
At this point, Giorno didn’t feel like pursuing Lee Sin’s misjudgment.
Rather than dwelling on the past, he preferred to solve the current problem:
“Mount Vesuvius is a world-famous tourist attraction, and the plane just crashed near a bustling tourist town at the foot of the mountain.”
“So, if that monster wasn’t killed by the crash…”
Giorno’s voice turned grim and ominous:
“It has plenty of ‘snacks’ to eat.”
Seeing Giorno’s serious, determined expression, completely devoid of fear, Lee Sin realized something:
“Hey, kid?”
“Are you planning to go after that monster again?”
“Yes.”
Giorno’s blue eyes were filled with determination:
“That monster can rapidly grow by absorbing energy. If—just if…”
“If its growth has no limit, and we don’t stop it, it will surely destroy Naples.”
“No…”
His words turned even more alarming:
“Perhaps the entire world will be destroyed.”
Under Giorno’s powerful voice, Lee Sin’s mind unconsciously conjured up this image:
An immortal blob, growing endlessly.
It tirelessly moves across the Eurasian and African continents. Human weapons are useless against this mountain-sized monster. Planes and ships sent to hunt it become food that helps its flesh grow.
It constantly devours, constantly grows, until every creature on the continent is consumed, every city turned to dust.
The disgusting, stinking flesh will cover the entire land.
Animals extinct, vegetation dead, ecological disasters rampant, climate catastrophes frequent, civilization destroyed by war, and humanity heading towards extinction.
Like those movies about biological crises…
All of this because some idiot at the beginning of the movie didn’t handle the virus that escaped from the lab, leading to the complete loss of control later on.
Lee Sin was now that idiot.
“Cough, cough…”
Thinking carefully, he said to Giorno:
“You have a point.”
“If we don’t find a way to eliminate this potentially infinitely growing monster, it’ll be too late once it grows.”
“But…”
Lee Sin’s tone suddenly turned serious:
“We barely survived that monster with all our efforts.”
“Going back to confront it now, isn’t that a bit too suicidal?”
“…….”
Giorno didn’t respond.
He studied Lee Sin’s serious expression and then smiled:
“Mr. Baldy, stop testing me with such dull remarks.”
“I know you’re not afraid of death.”
“And you should know, neither am I.”
Giorno raised his head, lifted his chin, and placed his hand on his muscular chest:
“I, Giorno Giovanna, have a dream—”
“I want to become a Gang-star!”
The boy’s golden hair gently swayed in the wind, and his blue eyes shone with unwavering determination:
“This country is already under the control of the mafia. Only by becoming a Gang-star can we truly save this country.”
“With this golden dream, I won’t fear death.”
“Then….”
He slowly extended his hand to Lee Sin:
“Mr. Baldy, will you join me in saving the world?”
“Hahahaha.”
Lee Sin couldn’t help but burst into laughter:
“This is incredible. It’s the first time I’ve met someone more reckless than me!”
“Although seeking trouble like this is foolish, this whole mess started because of me—I’m not someone who needs others to clean up my mess!”
“Giorno Giovanna, right?”
“Alright…”
He restrained his laughter and firmly grasped Giorno’s outstretched hand:
“My answer is yes!”
………………………………………………………………………………………….
At the same time.
In an isolated corner of Naples Airport.
“The number you have dialed is currently unavailable. Please leave a message after the beep…”
“Beep… beep…”
Diavolo clenched his phone tightly, his expression extremely grim.
“Damn it!”
“Carne didn’t answer the phone!”
“From the tracking record of the speedboat, he should have encountered that bald guy for a while now.”
“So…”
“Did he activate his posthumous Stand ability and fail to answer, or was he easily dealt with by that bald guy?”
Thinking about the possibly escaped Lee Sin, Diavolo’s mood soured.
He wasn’t blaming his subordinate’s incompetence.
Carne was just an insurance policy he set up. Diavolo never expected Carne to deal with Lee Sin alone.
His real plan was to create a time difference using the convenience of air travel, arriving at Naples port before Lee Sin and dealing with the one who defiled his throne personally.
The plan wasn’t bad.
After all, Lee Sin’s escape earlier was purely accidental. Given another chance, Lee Sin would definitely die.
However…
Due to “aviation control,” Diavolo had to wait three hours at Palermo Airport.
Finally boarding the plane, it was forced to reroute due to sudden military action by the Americans, resulting in another three hours of circling.
What usually took a bit over an hour now dragged on for six hours!
“Bombing other countries every day is bad enough, but now they’re treating my territory like their public toilet…”
“Damn it… I’m going to kill those bastards!”
Unlucky Diavolo could only vent his frustration at the true culprit.
Of course, it was just a rant.
Despite claiming invincibility, Diavolo, merely the head of the Italian mafia, wouldn’t dare provoke the truly invincible global superpower.
“Phew…”
He adjusted his emotions, trying to calm himself down:
“Now isn’t the time to waste.”
“I need to check that area quickly. If that bald guy isn’t dead, he might not have gone far.”
With that thought, Diavolo quickly left the dark corner, heading straight to the airport’s taxi area.
Simultaneously, he handed over control to his alter ego, Doppio, to hide his true identity.
What Diavolo didn’t notice was…
In the dark corner he had just left, a round stone had mysteriously appeared on the ground.
