Lee Sin's Bizzare Adventure - Chapter 37
Half an hour ago, at 14:55.
The fighter jet had already crashed into the small town at the foot of Mount Vesuvius, and Lee Sin and Giorno Giovanna had just formed their two-man team to tackle the epic boss.
The two of them ran along the road towards the crash site, desperately searching for a suitable mode of transportation.
“Oh my god…”
Lee Sin tried entering his data mode, using his keen hearing to sense the commotion at the crash site several kilometers away.
“What’s wrong?” Giorno heard Lee Sin’s instinctive sigh and asked, “Is the situation bad?”
“What do you think?”
Lee Sin helplessly spread his hands. “I can hear that thing’s commotion from three kilometers away. How can the situation not be bad?”
“Just judging by the sound waves…”
He paused deliberately, using a spooky storytelling tone to say to Giorno:
“That monster, after devouring the plane’s engine, is now probably five or six meters tall.”
“Oh.”
Giorno wasn’t scared at all.
He just sighed softly and calmly said:
“The energy from a fighter jet engine is far greater than that of a school bus, so this was expected.”
“However…”
Giorno glanced at Lee Sin’s slightly complex expression and said, “You seem a bit down?”
“Not really down…”
Lee Sin was slightly surprised by Giorno’s observation skills and then said with a complicated tone:
“I was just thinking about something…”
“To save myself, I accidentally lured the meat chunk onto the bus; to save the students on the bus, I stayed behind and fought with you; to save us, I lured the meat chunk onto the plane; and the pilot, to save himself, let the plane crash into the densely populated city.”
“In the end…”
“I saved some people, but more people might die because of it.”
“What does this mean? Should I have done nothing from the start?”
“……..”
Giorno fell silent for a moment:
“This question… is really boring.”
His eyes remained steadfast:
“We only did what we had to do at the time.”
“The ones who should be questioned are not us, but the garbage who released this monster.”
“This…”
Lee Sin was slightly taken aback and then laughed heartily:
“Hahahaha…”
“Such an unwavering mindset… Are you really only 13?”
“The real deal.”
“Just started the second semester of the first year of middle school.”
Giorno rolled his eyes at Lee Sin, seriously saying:
“Stop thinking about such boring things.”
“Focus on doing what needs to be done next!”
With that, he began to concentrate on analyzing the battle situation:
“Although the monster has grown bigger, the situation is actually much more favorable than before:”
“Previously, we were too close to the meat chunk, so it could catch up to us with just a slight movement.”
“But now, we can maintain a maximum safe distance from it, prolonging the time it takes to catch up to us.”
“That’s true.”
Lee Sin translated Giorno’s idea into a way that people from the Dragon Kingdom would understand more easily:
“The monster is always slightly faster than us. From my observations, its speed is consistently about 1.2 times that of its prey.”
“If we set the distance between me and the monster as X (m) and my speed as V (m/s), then the time it takes for it to catch up to us should be t = X / (1.2 – 1) V = 5X / V.”
“Obviously, the greater the distance, the more safe escape time we gain.”
He added:
“And from my previous observations, the monster’s maximum perception range is about 100 meters.”
“So, X can be up to 100. We can lure it from 100 meters away.”
“Uh…”
Giorno adjusted slightly to Lee Sin’s understanding and continued:
“Exactly.”
“This V is actually the fastest speed among all moving objects within the monster’s perception range.”
“There will definitely be interference from others during our movement, but this interference is very limited on land.”
“Even if a car passes through the battlefield at a speed of 60 km/h, we just need to ensure that our moving speed V is greater than 60 km/h = 16.67 m/s.”
“Setting X to the maximum value of 100, V = 16.67, and substituting gives t = 29.99 seconds!”
“This means… as long as we maintain a maximum distance of 100 meters from the monster, even if a car moving at 60 km/h interferes, we can secure almost half a minute of safety time!”
“Time is more than enough!”
Lee Sin’s eyes sparkled as he added:
“In that case, as long as we two maintain the maximum safe distance, attracting its hatred from different directions, we can pull this mindless monster wherever we want it to go!”
“Like adding vectors together!”
“Uh…”
“I get the reasoning, but…”
Giorno, still in middle school, looked confused: “What’s a vector?”
……………………………………………
14:58.
“To implement the plan, we must ensure we have faster mobility than any interfering object, including cars.”
“Obviously, this requires a vehicle.”
“Cars are too bulky and not suitable for complex terrain; bicycles aren’t fast enough, so…”
“Motorcycles, combining speed and agility, are the best choice.”
Giorno seriously explained his intention to Lee Sin while skillfully picking the lock of a parked motorcycle.
“Hey…”
Watching Giorno’s serious and focused look as he picked the lock, Lee Sin couldn’t help but joke:
“Why are you so good at this?”
“Eh?”
“You mean stealing cars?”
Giorno didn’t even lift his head, calmly saying:
“It’s complicated to explain, but it’s something I had to do.”
“My stepfather and I have a terrible relationship, and he wouldn’t even pay for my school fees.”
“And I’m only 13 this year, no decent place would hire someone my age.”
“So…”
“Working isn’t an option, and I don’t know how to do business. Stealing is the only way I can survive.”
He finished his story with a straight face and added:
“By the way…”
“Besides motorcycles, we need something else.”
“When the battle starts, we’ll be separated by some distance.”
“Yelling won’t work in such chaos, so we should each have a phone for real-time communication.”
“I have my phone, but I don’t know if you have one.”
“I understand.”
Lee Sin agreed with Giorno’s need to “open team voice chat” and immediately nodded: “I’ll find a phone now.”
As soon as he spoke…
A furious voice suddenly rang out nearby:
“Damn you!”
“What are you doing to my bike?!”
The voice belonged to a social youth wearing a green shirt, jeans, and a fluffy hat, exuding laziness.
He pointed at the motorcycle that Giorno had already picked the lock of and somehow started, furiously saying:
“Get off, you shameless thieves!”
“Sigh…”
“Why so harsh?”
Giorno didn’t bother to respond, so Lee Sin patiently gave a kind answer:
“This is saving the world; how can you call it stealing?”
“Your motorcycle has been requisitioned, and the people of Naples won’t forget your contribution.”
“You, you!”
The social youth’s face twitched with anger:
“You shameless bastard…”
“Stop now, or I’ll call the police!”
“Oh?”
Lee Sin’s eyes lit up: “Call the police? Do you have a phone?”
“Yes!”
The youth angrily pulled out a brand-new Nokia from his pocket, threatening loudly:
“I can call the police right now; will you stop?!”
“Oh…”
Lee Sin squinted, smiling warmly: “Thank you for that.”
