Lee Sin's Bizzare Adventure - Chapter 38
At 15:05, Lee Sin and Giorno Giovanna quickly and efficiently completed their logistics and supply preparations. They then sped towards the crash site at the foot of Mount Vesuvius as fast as they could.
Looking up from there, the first thing that caught their eye was the emerald green shade nurtured by the fertile volcanic ash. Further up, they could see the towering and majestic body of Mount Vesuvius, with the ancient black volcanic rocks accumulated over countless years.
It was indeed a beautiful scene, but Lee Sin had no time to appreciate it.
At the foot of the volcano, this once bustling tourist town was now in chaos:
The wreckage of the plane that fell from the sky had long since “disappeared.” Houses and roads were continuously collapsing under some invisible mysterious force, and tourists and passersby fled in all directions, gripped by an indescribable terror.
To the ordinary people’s eyes, it seemed as if an invisible giant plow was moving through the town, leaving behind a wide, barren path of death.
To Lee Sin’s eyes…
“Damn it…”
“It’s grown as big as a small villa.”
“Looks like this monster has eaten quite a few cars,” he remarked.
“Don’t be careless,” Giorno detected the nonchalant tone in Lee Sin’s voice. “Even though things are going in our favor, we’re still at least four kilometers from the seaside, and anything could happen along the way.”
“Especially…”
“U.S. military, right?” Lee Sin’s expression turned serious. “The Americans just lost one of their most advanced fighters. They won’t ignore that.”
“It’s been ten minutes since the crash, and the U.S. naval base is just nearby in the Naples harbor… They could arrive any moment.”
Giorno’s concern was understandable to Lee Sin:
The commotion caused by this massive meat chunk was no less than a Hollywood blockbuster. Witnessing such a bizarre sight, those well-armed Americans would undoubtedly react strongly to this ‘invisible monster.’
If any military helicopters happened to fly low or if high-speed bullets or shells were fired, Lee Sin and Giorno’s plan would be heavily disrupted.
Even if the soldiers didn’t directly interfere, just having the Americans see Lee Sin and Giorno dealing with a ‘hidden monster’ near the crash site of a top-secret fighter jet, during the sensitive period of the Balkan War, would bring immense trouble.
After all, CIA tea isn’t easy to drink.
“In that case, let’s make this quick!”
Lee Sin revved the motorcycle’s engine, connected to Giorno’s phone, and said over their “team chat”:
“Hey, Giorno, are you ready?”
“Ready… What about you, Lee Sin?”
“Hahaha… Of course!”
Lee Sin laughed heartily:
“Though it sounds a bit cheesy, what we’re doing is foolish… So…”
“Giorno Giovanna, let’s save the world together!”
The motorcycle engine roared ten times louder.
Giorno and Lee Sin each rode their machines, approaching the giant mindless meat chunk from different directions according to their pre-arranged plan.
“Squelch~”
The meat chunk emitted an excited squelching sound.
Compared to the slow-moving crowd, it preferred the fast-approaching Lee Sin on his motorcycle.
The monster, nearly seven to eight meters tall, suddenly burst into a speed completely incongruous with its bloated size and, under Lee Sin’s lure, changed its direction.
100 meters… 90 meters… 80 meters…
The distance between the meat chunk and Lee Sin was closing rapidly.
However, this process was ‘long’ but safe.
At least, compared to the earlier close-quarters combat on the bus, this battle’s initiative was entirely in the hands of Lee Sin and Giorno.
“It’s already within 50 meters…”
Lee Sin carefully maintained his distance from the meat chunk and, as it reached the pre-set safety limit of 50 meters, called out to his teammate:
“Giorno, it’s your turn!”
With that, he deliberately slowed his motorcycle.
Giorno, who had been hovering on the edge of the meat chunk’s perception, accelerated, skillfully entering its “sight” and diverting its attention with slightly superior speed.
The mindless monster immediately abandoned the half-chased Lee Sin and turned towards the 100-meter-distant Giorno.
Thus…
Alternating the aggro between them, the two effortlessly lured the seemingly invincible monster away.
Under their guidance, it moved away from the town, steadily heading towards the distant vast sea.
That place was meant to be the monster’s eternal grave.
“Good!”
Lee Sin couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief:
“The plan is going more smoothly than expected. Now, as long as no one…”
“Uh…”
His tone suddenly changed.
“What’s wrong?” Giorno’s slightly tense voice came through the phone: “Is there a problem?”
“I shouldn’t have jinxed it…”
Lee Sin sighed:
“Trouble has arrived!”
While carefully riding his motorcycle to keep the monster’s attention, Lee Sin strained to listen to the sounds from outside the battlefield:
“I hear a powerful motorcycle engine rapidly approaching us from the street behind.”
“That guy will probably…”
Before Lee Sin could finish, the troublemaker had appeared.
The guy was riding a flashier, more aggressive modified motorcycle, revving the powerful engine, roaring as he cut in from another street.
He was moving much faster than Lee Sin and Giorno.
And worse, this guy wasn’t just a random passerby but…
“Damn it!”
“Stealing my bike and phone?”
“Let’s see if I don’t teach you a lesson today!”
The social youth, who had just ‘contributed’ to the cause of justice, shouted angrily.
Yes, it was him, the “old acquaintance” Lee Sin and Giorno had met just minutes ago.
Not willing to swallow his anger after being robbed, this local street dweller was burning with rage.
Knowing Naples’ ineffectual police were unlikely to bring the thieves to justice, he decided to take matters into his own hands.
Immediately after the incident, he rushed to a nearby friend’s place, borrowing a high-performance motorcycle to pursue the thieves.
Additionally, to intimidate the seemingly skilled thieves, he borrowed a revolver for protection—
Given that Italy allowed civilians to legally own firearms and had less than ideal public safety, many households kept revolvers handy for self-defense.
For a streetwise guy, getting a gun wasn’t difficult.
Thus, this brave youth, armed and mounted, aggressively pursued Lee Sin and Giorno along their escape route.
“…….”
Seeing the vengeful familiar face, Lee Sin’s expression darkened:
“Seriously…”
“I already felt bad taking your phone and bike, and now you come here to die?!”
