Lee Sin's Bizzare Adventure - Chapter 39
The situation was dire.
Even though ordinary people couldn’t see the meat chunk itself, they could see the strange traces left behind by the giant monster as it moved across the land.
However, the social youth had suddenly burst out from a side street and inserted himself into the awkward position between Lee Sin and the meat chunk, right behind Lee Sin but in front of the monster.
He had only seen Lee Sin riding a motorcycle flash past the intersection and hadn’t seen the invisible monster, which was tightly chasing Lee Sin, devouring everything in its path, about 70 to 80 meters behind.
To make matters worse, the motorcycle he was riding seemed to be one of those modified “street-bombing” bikes from the biker gangs.
Its engine roar was loud enough to drown out all surrounding noise.
This deafening noise, which usually made the nearby residents miserable, now backfired on the youth driving the motorcycle—
The meat chunk, now the size of a small villa, was right behind him, but the engine’s roar deafened him, preventing him from hearing the monster’s massive movements as it pulled down trees and buildings.
At this moment, all he saw was Lee Sin fleeing on the motorcycle ahead:
“Stop!”
“Or I’ll shoot!”
The youth waved his revolver threateningly while accelerating wildly to close in on Lee Sin.
“Damn it!”
Lee Sin knew that the meat chunk’s attention was definitely attracted by the faster-moving youth.
And with the monster so close behind him, it would only take a couple of seconds for it to swallow the young man whole.
“Giorno, get over here and help!”
He called out loudly to Giorno, who was driving on another street, to come back and assist.
But this wasn’t an open plain. Due to the road conditions and terrain, Giorno couldn’t return to the monster’s sensing range in time to help solve the crisis.
With no other option, to save the young man about to be swallowed by the meat chunk, Lee Sin had to throttle up, pushing his speed to a point that would get his license revoked.
Soon, his speed reached an astonishing 90 km/h.
The monster, which was just about to extend its tentacles to its prey, hesitated and turned its focus back to Lee Sin further ahead.
“Hey!”
Having reclaimed the monster’s attention, Lee Sin had to maintain his speed while shouting back to the young man:
“Idiot, stop chasing!”
“Slow down and stop!”
“Huh?”
The young man’s ears were nearly deafened by his motorcycle’s engine roar, making it impossible to hear Lee Sin’s urgent and angry warning.
Instead, seeing Lee Sin’s overly agitated expression, he mistook it as a provocation from the bike thief:
“Alright!”
“How dare you be so arrogant? Just wait!”
He then further accelerated, determined to catch up with Lee Sin.
“…….”
Lee Sin knew he was in a bind:
Increasing speed would only make the enraged youth chase faster, and the monster’s attention would immediately switch back to this foolish agitator.
Slowing down would allow the youth to catch up and stop him.
Giorno wouldn’t reach the monster’s sensing range in these two seconds, leaving the monster’s target as the unaware youth.
With the monster so close, if it got its attention back, the youth would be dead in less than a second.
Lee Sin couldn’t even warn the fool to look back at the “invisible monster” behind him:
If the youth saw the “invisible force” breaking the ground behind him, he would definitely panic and throttle up even more.
“…….”
Lee Sin was at a loss for words:
His driving skills weren’t great, and his motorcycle was significantly inferior to the young man’s ride.
No matter how hard he throttled, his motorcycle could only reach around 100 km/h.
Meanwhile, the young man easily sped past him with a slight increase in speed.
Even if Lee Sin wanted to reclaim the monster’s attention, he couldn’t compete in a high-speed race.
More importantly, time was running out:
With the young man’s current speed at 110 km/h and the monster about 5 meters behind him, how much longer would he live?
In short….
“Just wait to die!”
Lee Sin thought helplessly.
In fact, he and Giorno had briefly discussed how to handle potential “interferers” like the young man during their battle.
The conclusion was… not to handle them.
This wasn’t because they disregarded life but because they realized that forcibly trying to save such “interferers” might fail and put themselves in danger, causing their “lure the monster into the sea” plan to collapse.
Conversely, if they didn’t meddle, one or two “interferers” wouldn’t affect them much. The rampaging meat chunk would consume them in seconds.
After the meat chunk consumed the “interferer,” it would quickly be attracted back by Giorno and Lee Sin, returning to its path toward the sea.
“Don’t blame me…”
“You’re just unlucky.”
“You didn’t notice such a big commotion and put yourself right in the monster’s mouth.”
“Speeding, street bombing, reckless driving, even God can’t save you…”
In the split second of the young man’s final moments, these self-consoling thoughts flashed through Lee Sin’s mind.
His final decision was…
“I’ll save him!”
Lee Sin turned back to look at the young man about to be devoured, his gaze becoming resolute:
“This guy is here because I stole his stuff.”
“I said I wasn’t the type to need others to clean up after me… so…”
“If I caused it, I’ll solve it!”
With that, he swerved his high-speed motorcycle, shifting his attention to Giorno, who was within his skill range.
At this point, the young man’s speed exceeded Lee Sin’s motorcycle limit. Lee Sin couldn’t outrun him, so he relied on his skills to divert the monster’s attention:
“Safeguard!”
Lee Sin’s figure suddenly soared with incredible speed.
He was faster than the motorcycle and everything around him.
“Wha-?”
The young man chasing behind was stunned:
“He can fly?!”
In indescribable shock, he instinctively slowed down, looking at the “flying” Lee Sin with a gaze akin to seeing an alien.
Then, something even more shocking happened:
A gust of wind and a tsunami-like wave of air exploded from behind him.
It was caused by a massive object moving at high speed.
Like standing dangerously close to a high-speed train on the platform, the young man felt the pressure change behind him, almost pulling him and his bike in.
Then, a huge shadow blocked the sun above him, sweeping past in the wind.
At this moment, the young man, who had been living a carefree life, recklessly wasting his precious life, tasted the weight of “death” for the first time.
I’m going to die…
In the whirlwind of wind and shadows, he fell into despair.
But soon, the storm ceased, and the shadow swept away.
Boom!
A heavy object hit the ground not far away, shattering the concrete.
“Ahhhh!”
The young man screamed, desperately stabilizing his bike and stopping.
Then, he finally saw the source of the monstrous wind, the massive shadow that nearly engulfed him:
“Oh my god…”
He sat dumbfounded on his stalled motorcycle, his hand holding the revolver trembling:
“That’s… a huge chunk of meat!!”
