Marvel Anime Extraction - Chapter 110
Chapter 110 The Upcoming Sixth Extraction
“What?”
Fanny’s face was filled with confusion. He looked at Skye, who had a conflicted expression. He suddenly realized that Skye might not want to become a superhero.
He frowned.
Fanny admired heroes, but he knew that he could not become a hero. Even when the right and wrong choices were clear, he could not fairly judge which path to take.
For example, he clearly knew that Skye’s parents were not good people, but he was still willing to help Skye return them to their normal lives and give them peaceful old lives.
A superhero might not say that he should destroy the family, but they would definitely need to pay for what they had done.
Therefore, he always smiled bitterly when the news grouped him with Iron Man as a world-famous superhero.
The current Tony was more or less worthy of becoming a hero, but Fanny felt that he was still a long way away.
Fanny and the worried Skye returned home after leaving the robber they hypnotized with ‘Ars Magna’ on the ground.
Fanny was extremely tired and sleepy, but he decided to check Skye’s psychological state first.
“Come on, tell me what happened.”
Fanny leaned back on the sofa and propped his arm to his chin. He looked attentively at Skye, mimicking a doctor diagnosing a patient.
Skye recounted what happened in the convenience store and on the road, but she said nothing about how she wanted to stop the robber in the convenience store.
Skye’s face turned serious. She hesitated for quite a while before asking in a low voice, “Fanny, have you ever doubted what you should use your power for?”
“Why wouldn’t I?”
Fanny glanced at Skye with curiosity. “I never said about it, but back then, I wanted to grow up as soon as possible. Could you imagine how I felt when I discovered that my ability was to make fried chicken?”
Skye’s expression was a little strange. That wasn’t really her question, but she didn’t know how to explain it. Fortunately, Fanny steered back to the main topic.
“You must have felt ‘if only I could stop that robber from hurting anyone,’ right?”
Fanny knew Skye very well. He could more or less guess her thoughts from her expressions and her words.
Fanny wasn’t even surprised. Skye was a paragon of kindness and justice compared to him.
It wasn’t surprising that her philosophical crisis was rather similar to Spider-Man.
But despite Skye’s aptitude, Fanny didn’t really want Skye to become a hero.
“I wouldn’t stop you from helping who you can; I also do that, after all,” Fanny said while looking at Skye, “But I don’t want you to focus too much on becoming a hero.”
“Why?”
Skye blurted.
“Because being a hero has its cost,”
Fanny replied. “Becoming a hero requires the ability to sacrifice, but I don’t have that. I had hoped that you also don’t have it.”
“I don’t want to sacrifice anything.”
Skye shook her head in disagreement.
“But if you want to be a hero, you will gain that ability!”
Tony, Captain America, Thor, and even Hawkeye and Black Widow. They all had the same willingness to sacrifice themselves for the greater good.
But Fanny was different. He would do his part in solving the problems that threaten the world and humanity, but he wouldn’t go so far as to sacrifice himself for total strangers.
An awkwardly stiff atmosphere descended. The two had serious expressions. This was a conflict of ideals.
“Skye, the existence of power is not inherently meaningful.” Fanny knew better than anyone about Skye’s stubbornness, so he advised instead of commanding her. “You have your power because you are who you are. You don’t have to feel obligated to use that power for someone else.”
Skye was hesitant, evidently still disagreeing with these statements. Fanny pushed ruthlessly, “Your current strength is only enough to bully ordinary people. You don’t have the power to become a superhero. Maybe someday, if you can defeat me, then I will not care about your choices anymore.”
Skye rolled her eyes. She didn’t know the precise extent of Fanny’s power, but ‘Demon Armor Incursio’ was at least strong enough to nullify her shock wave. And she wouldn’t be able to escape his ‘Explosion Magic’ in time.
She couldn’t even begin to think about going against Fanny while she was still helpless against these two abilities, and God only knows if Fanny had any other.
“I didn’t say that I wanted to be a superhero. I just wanted to ask how being one feels like,”
Skye snapped, and the conflicting emotions disappeared from her face. But she was still a little confused in her heart. She didn’t agree with Fanny’s answer, but he was correct about her lacking strength.
Fanny secretly sighed in relief when he saw that Skye had returned to normal. He wouldn’t know what to do if Skye insisted on becoming a superhero.
It would be fine if Skye kept meddling in smaller matters that don’t affect their life.
Skye continued to consider this matter for quite a while. She concluded that, at least for now, she wouldn’t think too much about helping others with her power; she hadn’t even saved her own parents, so it was too early to think about others.
Time slowly crawled, and it’s now October 20th. After all the struggle and battle, Fanny finally reached the last stretch of the experience needed for the sixth skill extraction.
Fanny was unexpectedly nervous as the important moment approached. He even went to school early, which made Billy sense that something was wrong.
“What happened to you today? You’re weird!”
Billy asked at the absent-minded Fanny beside him.
“Nothing.”
Fanny came back to his senses and calmed his heart. “I just felt a little uncomfortable.”
Billy’s interest in Knight of Divine Punishment had calmed down after the last few months. Even the media had also dropped their focus by now.
Many people still secretly investigated Fanny’s identity, but with Tony and Nick Fury standing guard, he was basically invisible.
“Should I bring you to the doctor?”
Billy asked with concern.
Despite Billy’s goodwill, Fanny subconsciously showed a disgusted expression. Even if he really was sick, he would never let Billy accompany him to see a doctor.
“No, no, it’s fine.”
Fanny waved his hand dismissively. Billy’s interruption allowed him to return his focus to the lesson and his secret magical study.
Fanny immediately contacted Banner after his classes ended to get Hulk out for a fight, but he was unexpectedly rejected.
“I can’t do it today, Helsed. I have a very important experimental project. Actually, I should tell you that I may not be able to let Hulk out for the next few days.”
Banner finally spent his time somewhere other than the villa after joining Stark’s company. He even spent more time in the Stark Tower than in the villa nowadays.
Fanny frowned. This was the first time Banner had refused his request since their first meeting. It would be bad for their relationship if Fanny pushed too far, so he relented.
Fanny’s only option other than Hulk was Tony. He didn’t need all that many experience points, so fighting Iron Man would be enough.
However, when Fanny reached out to Tony, he found out that Tony was currently attending a very important party overseas that wouldn’t end until very late. The billionaire wouldn’t be able to meet him today.
Fanny was furious. He only lacked the last bit of experience. He couldn’t believe it would be so hard to find someone to fulfill it. Without caring what time it was in Kamar-Taj, he immediately opened a portal and rushed to Mordo’s room. He sighed in relief when he found Mordo sleeping inside.
Sure enough, Mordo was the most reliable experience dummy!
