Marvel Anime Extraction - Chapter 99
Banner’s heart tightened when he heard Fanny’s exclamation. “What’s wrong?”
“I thought you would not wake up!”
Fanny had no right to complain to Banner; it was his idea to let Hulk out, after all.
“How did you feel while Hulk was out?” Fanny asked. He already knew what Hulk felt, but he was a little curious if Banner felt the same.
“It was like sleeping in a small house…” Banner hesitated and added, “Actually, it is not sleeping. It is a very strange state. It felt like the boundary between awake and asleep!”
Banner had described more details than Hulk, but Fanny didn’t really understand anything much from Banner’s explanation. The most he got from it was confirming the independence of the Hulk and Banner personalities.
“How long has it been?” Banner blurted when he saw Fanny in deep thought. The situation was far from normal, especially since he woke up in his room this time.
“Today is the third day!” Fanny answered casually, still thinking about the relationship between Banner and Hulk.
“The third day?!” Banner was perplexed. “How could it be this long?!”
Fanny was a little surprised by Banner’s attitude. “Has this never happened before?”
Banner smiled bitterly. “According to my estimate, that guy usually appears for six hours at the longest. Sometimes he only appeared for mere minutes, even.”
The shortest appearance that Banner remembered was when Hulk stopped him from firing a bullet at his own head.
“Then how could this time be so different?” Fanny asked Banner. This body originally belonged to Banner, so Banner should have more control of it.
“I tried to let him have more time and control; I thought you wanted his cooperation?”
Banner frowned. He thought that he had given the green giant several extra hours, not three whole days.
“So you can already control the amount of time and control the Hulk has?!” Fanny was shocked.
But Banner shook his head. “I could only influence and delay it a little. I don’t have full control.”
Fanny was still impressed nonetheless. Banner’s intelligence gave him an edge in controlling the body.
Fanny had been wracking his brain for the last few days thinking how to best introduce Hulk to the public. He even thought of using Gamora or her race.
They were all completely green!
If Gamora came to Earth and stood beside Hulk, nobody would doubt if someone said they’re siblings. Some might even mistake her for being She-Hulk.
The hard part really wasn’t to present Hulk as a superhero or increase public acceptance. The hard part would be what comes next.
There was no shortage of evil people in this world, the largest collection of which was Hydra. Letting those people know about Hulk would set them racing to win the giant over or eliminate him.
And with Hulk’s naiveté and Hydra’s subterfuge skills, they might just be able to pull Hulk into their schemes.
Fanny also thought about the countermeasures over the past few days but ultimately concluded that Hulk still needed a chaperone after all. Coincidentally, he had a good candidate in mind.
Of course, all this would only matter if Hulk and Banner could be separated. For now, Fanny needed to convince Banner to regularly let Hulk out.f
Fanny’s sudden employment as Hulk’s nanny wasn’t without results. Even though he hadn’t won a single battle against Hulk, the experience he gained during the three days was almost comparable to three weeks of Kamar-Taj training.
“I have been with Hulk for the past three days!” Fanny recalled one of his speculation that he had thought of the last few days. “Dr. Banner, have you ever thought of the possibility that perhaps Hulk had existed outside you before accidentally entering your body?”
“Impossible. He was born through my mutation after I was exposed to gamma rays. I created him by accident.”
Banner had studied Hulk for quite a while, so he naturally had formed his own theories and hypotheses. He immediately denied Fanny’s speculation.
But he made the mistake of dismissing Fanny, the dignified disciple of the Sorcerer Supreme.
If you want to dismiss me with science, I will give you magic!
“That is only what you know!” Fanny said condescendingly. He took an empty cup from the table and asked Banner, “What do you see now?”
Banner was confused, but he still answered, “A cup?”
“A cup without water!” Fanny exclaimed before holding his breath and concentrating. He used ‘Ars Magna’ to gather the moisture in the air into the cup.
Banner opened his eyes wide with surprise when the empty cup was suddenly filled with clear water.
“What you see with your eyes is not the entirety of the truth!” Fanny held the cup to Banner. “Just like the water in this cup. It already existed in the air; you just couldn’t see it before. Your situation was not dissimilar to this cup. Just like what I did to the water, the gamma rays simply gathered and condensed Hulk into you!”
People would feel either awe or fear in the face of the unknown. Despite Banner’s seven doctorate degrees, none of them had prepared him for magic.
Fanny’s demonstration made Banner reconsider his position. The hypothesis that Fanny posited had no scientific basis, but Banner was inexplicably compelled by it.
Fanny, on the other hand, was desperately trying to keep his poker face. His words were utter nonsense, and he had no idea about what was going on between Banner and Hulk, but none of those would stop him from persuading Banner.
“What does this have to do with separating us?” Banner came back to his senses, still unsure about what Fanny meant.
“It was inextricable!”
Fanny was a little shocked; Banner might be actually swayed by his nonsense.
He held the cup up again. “Just like this cup of water, the water is now trapped within the cup, regardless of the cup’s will.”
“What should I do if I don’t even want to participate in the condensation in the first place?” Banner shook his head in confusion.
“The water’s original state was outside the cup,” Fanny continued while still holding the cup, “Let Hulk out regularly; make him rediscover his previous state.”
“What if your statement is wrong?” Banner frowned. He didn’t refute Fanny’s words, but it would be hard to fully convince him.
Still, Fanny continued, “Even if I am wrong, this won’t impact you all that much. On the contrary, you would gain more experience in controlling Hulk.
“And if my guess is correct, we might be able to separate you!”
Banner reconsidered it again. He had thought about controlling Hulk’s power ever since the campus incident, and Fanny’s oversight could reduce the risk of this experiment. After thinking about it for a while, Banner asked again, “Then, what should I do?”
The corner of Fanny’s mouth silently rose a little. The strongest experience dummy was finally here!
