Marvel Infinity Talent - Chapter 238
“You actually possess Annihilation’s power. I’m surprised, but you are not Annihilation,” Chthon said, though he had to admit that Wang Yan’s use of such power was unexpected.
However, Chthon quickly regained his composure. This sorcerer was not Annihilation and couldn’t be compared to him. If Wang Yan had Annihilation’s full strength, he wouldn’t have been pushed to this point.
Chthon conjured another spear, even more potent than before, brimming with intense dark energy and the force of death. This power was enough to wither all life in its path.
With a swift motion, Chthon launched not just one but a dozen spears simultaneously.
Wang Yan narrowed his eyes as he witnessed this.
The sorcerers of Kamar-Taj felt the looming presence of death as the spears descended, but the Seraphim’s Shield provided them with a sense of security. They all looked toward Wang Yan, trusting that he knew what he was doing.
Wang Yan watched as multiple spears, more potent than before, descended upon them. Chthon intended to eliminate them all in one strike. Wang Yan raised his hand, summoning a cloud of black energy, channelling a consuming force.
The Grandmasters of Kamar-Taj felt a powerful pull as if their souls were being drawn in just by looking.
The spears fell, each one brimming with destructive and deathly energy.
A moment later, they seemed to pierce through Wang Yan’s body.
Seeing this, Strange’s face paled. Mordo, Wong, and the other Grandmasters were also shocked.
But the spears, having struck Wang Yan, vanished into his body and disappeared. The dark aura enveloping him dissipated.
“They’re gone?” Strange was astonished.
The terrifying spears, capable of erasing any life they touched, had simply vanished upon hitting Wang Yan.
“Ding! You have absorbed dark magic, enhancing your dark magic power,” the system’s voice chimed in Wang Yan’s mind. He had used Chthon’s spell, Dark Devour.
He realised this spell allowed him to absorb magical power, specifically dark energy.
“No wonder Chthon is an ancient god; his power is immense,” Wang Yan thought. The dark spear’s power was far greater than his own, each strike more potent than the last. This explained why Chthon was the origin of dark magic.
The dark domain seemed to make Chthon stronger, but it also provided Wang Yan with an opportunity to absorb dark energy.
Wang Yan continued to use Dark Devour, absorbing the surrounding dark energy.
The system’s notifications continued, “Ding! You have absorbed dark magic, enhancing your dark magic power!”
Chthon began to look uneasy within his dark domain. He could feel the dark magic dwindling as if being devoured.
He frowned deeply. He didn’t need to guess; it was clear that Wang Yan was absorbing his dark magic power.
Typically, anyone using dark magic would be powerless against him. But Wang Yan, undaunted, continued to use Chthon’s magic against him.
Chthon, knowing the true nature of the spell, understood its limits. Any spell had its limits; otherwise, it would be invincible. Even he couldn’t use it recklessly. He believed Wang Yan was ignorant of these limits and was overconfident in his use of the spell.
He expected Wang Yan to falter soon, making it easier to defeat him.
But as time passed and Wang Yan showed no signs of stopping, Chthon’s domain began to collapse, the darkness dissipating until sunlight once again bathed Kamar-Taj.
“The terrifying dark energy is gone!” exclaimed one of the Grandmasters.
“We can finally see Chthon clearly!” another said.
“Let’s see what other dark magic tricks he has up his sleeve!” the Grandmasters were relieved. Chthon, hidden in the dark, had been a daunting presence. Now, they could see him.
“Sorcerer, I must admit, your use of my magic surprises me. But using it against me is laughable,” Chthon sneered.
With the dark energy gone, Chthon didn’t believe Wang Yan could surpass him, the originator of dark magic.
Chthon conjured another spear, this time aiming to absorb Wang Yan’s power.
The space between them warped as their opposing forces clashed, distorting time.
Strange and the other sorcerers, within their protective shield, felt their skin crawl at the decisive clash.
The Grandmasters, disdainful of dark magic, couldn’t deny its power. White magic alone might not suffice against such a formidable foe. Wang Yan, however, used dark magic to counter the dark god’s attacks.
White and dark magic were fundamentally opposed, yet Wang Yan wielded both with formidable skill.
As the two forces clashed, even their souls trembled.
The air hummed with the clash of their magic.
Chthon, confident and calm, smirked at Wang Yan’s apparent struggle.
“Sorcerer, you think you can use my magic to its full potential? The spells in the Darkhold are only a fraction of my power. Your current display is impressive, but…”
Chthon’s absorption power grew more robust.
“Ding! Detected dark devour magic talent fragment. Fuse?” the system prompted.
“Fuse!” Wang Yan commanded.
His understanding of the spell deepened with the fusion, and his absorption power intensified.
Even Chthon felt the increased pull, his power being drawn away.
“This can’t be… I am the source of dark power,” Chthon muttered in disbelief.
His anger surged as he poured more dark magic into the clash, trying to overpower Wang Yan.
But Wang Yan’s absorption grew stronger, turning the tide.
Even Mordo and Strange felt their power being drawn, saved only by the Seraphim’s Shield.
The sorcerers gazed at Wang Yan in awe. His use of dark magic was terrifying, but his mastery was even more so.
This chapter concludes with the sorcerers realising just how formidable and terrifying Wang Yan truly is.
