Marvel Infinity Talent - Chapter 240
Chthon gazed at Earth and halted his attack. Countless runes appeared around the vast planet, encapsulating it completely.
Wang Yan stepped out from Earth, facing the colossal being before him. “Chthon, what are you trying to do? Do you intend to destroy Earth?” His expression was stern.
“This was once your home!” he added, staring at Chthon’s enormous form. Chthon’s size was so immense that Earth seemed like a small basketball in comparison. Even the Sun paled before his towering presence.
“This is no longer the Earth I once knew,” Chthon responded. “At least, it’s not the Earth I remember. That Earth has long since crumbled.”
The ancient Earth was vast, giving birth to countless gods. However, many powerful beings eventually led to its downfall. Gaia’s intervention later formed the current Earth and the Milky Way. Chthon was one of the deities responsible for the original Earth’s destruction, leading to his pursuit by Gaia and eventual sealing.
He initially hesitated to intervene, using his proper form to avoid Gaia’s attention. However, Wang Yan’s actions forced his hand. Now that he was acting, he needed to resolve matters quickly.
“Sorcerer, you have no idea what happened in those ancient times,” Chthon said mockingly. “This planet can’t compare to the one I knew.”
Chthon’s immense voice reverberated through space, his words carrying a palpable disdain.
“Wasn’t it because you were hunted by the God Eater? You couldn’t even protect your own planet, and yet you claim our Earth can’t compare to yours?” Wang Yan retorted, shaking his head. During those ancient times, the God Eater pursued numerous gods, including Chthon. Chthon could only watch as Earth crumbled, unable to protect it or fend off the God Eater’s attacks.
Chthon’s eyes flared with red light, his anger making him more intense than the Sun. “Say what you will, Sorcerer. Soon, you’ll see how futile your words are.”
“Perhaps I couldn’t protect Earth back then, but today, you will fail to protect this one,” Chthon declared, his voice cold and final.
Inside S.W.O.R.D. headquarters, Nick Fury and his agents wore expressions of despair. Could Wang Yan alone withstand such a terrifying force? They had faced powerful foes before, but none with such immense size and power.
Fury wasn’t thinking about winning anymore but rather how long Wang Yan could hold out. Even the most resilient man was still just a man. They were now facing a god whose size surpassed the planet itself.
Fury and his team couldn’t even see the full extent of Chthon’s colossal form from their space station. Chthon’s body seemed like a towering mountain, an overwhelming presence.
Wang Yan, relying on his mental strength, managed to perceive Chthon’s entirety. Despite facing many such opponents before, he still felt tremendous pressure from Chthon’s sheer size and power.
“Sorcerer, now you should realize that what you faced before was merely a fragment of me. Now, this is my full power. You cannot withstand my attack,” Chthon stated, raising a hand.
With a single swipe, his hand descended like a massive continent. Wang Yan’s view was filled with the gigantic hand, feeling an immense pressure enveloping him, making movement impossible.
Even opening a portal was out of the question. “This is true godly power,” Wang Yan noted calmly, despite the dire situation.
Golden magical symbols began to coalesce in Wang Yan’s hands. Kamar-Taj’s magic was built on the structure of magical runes, capable of forming anything from weapons to armour.
A massive golden fist formed, colliding with Chthon’s descending hand. Though Wang Yan appeared insignificant in size, his fist’s power matched Chthon’s might, creating a balance of forces.
The clash generated immense waves of energy, with Chthon’s dark aura and Wang Yan’s golden light vying for dominance. Time and space seemed to warp and fracture around them.
Inside S.W.O.R.D. headquarters, the agents felt their station shaking violently. Nick Fury watched in stunned silence as the two combatants’ attacks rippled across thousands of light-years. The base itself seemed on the verge of collapse.
Fury worried that their space station might disintegrate under such tremendous forces. While he maintained his composure, nearby agents were visibly anxious. The potential destruction of their base loomed large.
At least Earth was protected by a magical barrier. Without Wang Yan, the planet might not have survived. The fight continued, with Wang Yan’s divine power strengthening his golden fist.
Chthon’s massive body began to tremble, struggling against the formidable punch. “Chthon, it seems your time in captivity has weakened you,” Wang Yan remarked, sensing Chthon’s difficulty.
Chthon’s face grew grave as his boundless dark power struggled to match Wang Yan’s increasing strength. It was astonishing that a human could wield divine power.
Despite his enormous body initially giving him an advantage, Wang Yan’s relentless surge of power began to turn the tide. Chthon’s hand faltered under the golden fist’s pressure.
Finally, the balance broke, and Chthon’s hand could no longer hold. The golden light surged forward, imbued with the power of destruction, causing Chthon’s massive arm to disintegrate.
“Chthon, you are not as formidable as I imagined,” Wang Yan said calmly.
Chthon watched in disbelief as his body began to crumble. “Sorcerer, you are exceptional. Your power rivals that of gods. But sadly, you are not a god,” he said, a mix of admiration and regret in his voice.
Black energy erupted from Chthon, attempting to repair his disintegrating form. “Gather!” he commanded, trying to restore himself.
