Marvel: Randomly Load a Protagonist Template - Chapter 100
Hawking’s plan wasn’t overly complicated.
He wanted to show the public that it wasn’t just a case of the first mutant awakening to rule humanity and another group of mutants defeating him.
Such an outcome would only make the public think this was an internal mutant conflict, affecting innocent humans, making mutants seem even more terrifying.
He aimed to weaken the concept of mutants.
He wanted the public to see that when villains like Apocalypse and Magneto appeared, righteous superheroes would be protecting humanity and defeating these villains.
Among these superheroes were individuals like Peter and Jessica, who gained powers through accidents, Hawking, who received abilities from divine sources, and mutants naturally born with powers.
This way, mutants wouldn’t be seen as scary freaks but as humans naturally gifted with superpowers who could join Hero League International, a dream job for many, and become superheroes.
If crafted well, this event could change the public’s perception of mutants.
Half an hour later, Hawking received a message from Nick Fury.
“According to our records, the Brotherhood members all traveled to Cairo, Egypt, this morning.”
“We’ve located them. All units, move out!”
After putting down the phone, Hawking led all X-Men members, Hero League members, and a dozen reporters aboard the X-Jet, heading to Cairo at top speed.
Inside the aircraft, the eager reporters turned their microphones and cameras towards Hawking, clad in his golden armor, and bombarded him with questions.
“Mr. Flash, is the news about Apocalypse’s doomsday plan true?”
“Mr. Flash, is this aircraft a new purchase by Hero League? We’ve never seen it before.”
“Mr. Flash, aside from Spider-Man, Venom, and Sky Knight, who are these others?”
Hawking calmly answered:
“The news about Apocalypse is true. This Hero Jet is a new transport aircraft developed by our company.
As for these new faces, they are new superheroes we’ve recruited and rigorously trained.
This is Storm, who can control lightning and storms; this is Cyclops, who can shoot heat rays like Superman; this is…”
After Hawking’s introductions, the reporters began interviewing the X-Men individually.
The truth about Apocalypse was still uncertain, but getting early interviews with these superheroes was worth the special trip on Christmas.
Meanwhile, on a high ridge outside Cairo, Egypt.
Magneto, flanked by his enhanced Brotherhood members, spoke to Apocalypse:
“Human nuclear weapons are incredibly powerful. It could be problematic if we don’t eliminate this threat before we act.
I believe humans, in their selfishness, wouldn’t hesitate to sacrifice a city to attack us.”
Apocalypse sneered:
“I can’t believe that in my five-thousand-year slumber, these slaves have become masters.
Don’t worry; they will soon discover that their prideful weapons will all vanish. They have no power to resist.”
He placed his hand on the unconscious Professor X’s forehead, his mind invading the Professor’s brain to control his powers.
Instantly, all nuclear-armed countries experienced a terrifying event, causing their leaders’ hearts to stop nearly.
Without any commands, all their nuclear missiles were launched.
There are over ten thousand nuclear missiles worldwide. If they all detonated, it would be a catastrophic end for all life on Earth.
Thankfully, the missiles ascended and did not descend, eventually launched into space.
At this moment, Earth’s countries had no nuclear weapons.
“Now, we can proceed with our plan!”
Withdrawing his hand, Apocalypse smiled confidently.
Professor X’s mental resistance was strong; even Apocalypse couldn’t control him for long.
So, the best approach was to transfer his consciousness, fully acquiring Professor X’s abilities, which would allow him to control humanity at will.
There would be no more uprisings from enslaved humans.
Why didn’t he just detonate all the nukes and annihilate humanity?
He wanted to rule humanity as he did five thousand years ago, turning them into his slaves. Killing them all would leave him ruling over nothing.
He needed Magneto to destroy modern civilization, leaving humans powerless to resist.
Raising his hands, he used his power to manipulate the sand and stone in front of Cairo.
Under Apocalypse’s control, countless modern buildings in central Cairo collapsed, turning to sand and forming a massive pyramid covered in runes.
This colossal pyramid occupied half of Cairo’s urban area.
Seeing this, Magneto’s eyes narrowed.
He knew the Apocalypse was powerful but didn’t expect such strength. Thankfully, he had prepared.
As the sky darkened, he said to Apocalypse:
“Have Mystique and the others protect you inside the pyramid during the ritual. I’ll use my full power to disrupt the magnetic field and destroy human civilization.”
“Go ahead, once the plan is complete, you will lead the Four Horsemen.”
Apocalypse nodded, then flew towards the pyramid with the unconscious Professor.
After Apocalypse left, Magneto instructed Mystique:
“During the fight, conserve our strength. Let the X-Men and Apocalypse’s forces wear each other down.”
With that, Magneto also flew off to a hidden spot to fully unleash his powers.
At least in destroying modern civilization, he and Apocalypse agreed.
However, he couldn’t let someone like Apocalypse rule the Earth.
It wasn’t about ambition but about his vision of liberating mutants so they wouldn’t suffer human persecution and allow them a happy future.
He even considered exterminating all humans, leaving only mutants.
But Apocalypse was different—a dictator, an emperor.
To Apocalypse, humans were slaves, and mutants were higher-ranking slaves. He’d take the body and abilities if he found a desirable power.
That wasn’t what Magneto wanted.
So he planned to use Apocalypse and then eliminate him.
