- Chapter 62 - The Frightened Green Goblin
…
“Oh, I lied to you. Telling you to go home was just so you could put on your battle suit and glider to make the fight more interesting,” Hawking replied expressionlessly.
To truly defeat an opponent, facing them at their perceived strongest is necessary, highlighting the gap in strength.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about. This kind of joke isn’t funny!”
Norman Osborn immediately changed his expression, turning around with a scary look towards Hawking.
The fact that Hawking knew about the battle suit and glider shocked Norman. The Oscorp-designed glider had been reported stolen in the news, and the battle suit was something he had crafted afterward, with no one else knowing about it.
It was used only for the first time yesterday during an explosion at the sixth aerospace testing site.
“Mr. Osborn, stop pretending. I know you were behind yesterday’s incident. I’m giving you time to go inside and get your battle suit; otherwise, you might not have another chance. I hit hard, and you could end up dead!”
Hawking pushed open the car door and stepped down.
Norman squinted his eyes, a fleeting murderous intent in his gaze.
“There’s a misunderstanding. I was at home all day yesterday and didn’t go out.”
Norman stepped out of the car with a deceiving smile and approached Hawking.
But before Hawking could respond, Norman suddenly reached out his right hand like lightning and grabbed Hawking’s neck, lifting him.
“Tell me, who are you?”
“You’re quite strong, and your human enhancement serum works well.”
However, facing Norman’s chokehold, Hawking just smiled indifferently.
“But still too weak for me!”
His right leg kicked out like lightning, striking Norman in the chest.
The decisive blow made Norman’s eyes bulge, then sent him flying back, crashing into the iron gate of his mansion, creating a person-shaped dent.
Due to the human enhancement serum, the Green Goblin indeed had significantly enhanced physical abilities, but his strength was still much lower than Spider-Man’s.
Spider-Man’s strength reaches up to 25 tons, whereas the Green Goblin’s is only about 9 tons; in hand-to-hand combat, he’s no match for Spider-Man.
He could fight Spider-Man mainly due to his high-tech weaponry as support.
Therefore, he was different from Hawking in terms of pure strength.
“I can’t win this!”
Norman, falling from the gate and clutching his chest, looked up at Hawking, standing confidently before him, and immediately judged the situation.
He knew his body wasn’t in the same league as his opponent from just that one hit.
Thus, he leaped over the iron gate and quickly ran towards his mansion room.
Hawking, seeing this, didn’t stop him; he also leaped over the gate and leisurely walked to the fountain beside the mansion, sitting down to wait.
“Cackle, die!”
After a while, a figure wearing a green demon battle suit and riding on a glider came flying towards Hawking, laughing menacingly.
At that moment, Hawking activated the Goku template, boosting his combat power directly to 285.
His combat power was 145, with the Goku template adding 140, making 285 combat power points, nearly matching Goku after drinking the Super Divine Water and Piccolo in his rejuvenated state.
It wasn’t that his original 145 combat power couldn’t defeat the Green Goblin; it was to let the Green Goblin experience the disparity in strength more clearly, to let him taste despair.
“Da da da da da!”
Two machine guns rose from the Green Goblin’s glider, and before he even reached Hawking, a barrage of bullets poured forth.
“Is that all?”
Hawking, sitting by the fountain, didn’t move an inch. He just raised his right hand and, with a series of afterimages, caught all the densely packed bullets.
The Green Goblin, shocked, immediately halted his glider. Those were machine gun bullets, not ordinary handgun rounds—could they be caught by hand?
“Then try this!”
Not convinced, the Green Goblin pulled out two pumpkin-shaped metal bombs from his battle suit and threw them at Hawking’s feet while throwing several sharp, high-tech spinning knives, tracing strange arcs aimed at Hawking’s vital points.
“Boom! Boom!”
The pumpkin bombs exploded successfully, sending the entire fountain soaring into the sky with water splashing chaotically everywhere.
“Ha ha ha, let’s see you catch these!” the Green Goblin cackled from his glider, waist cocked and a look of madness on his face, seeming completely deranged.
The pumpkin bombs were his unique design, far more potent than regular hand grenades, and paired with spiral knives sharp enough to cut through metal.
He couldn’t believe these wouldn’t kill the monster below.
“How to catch? Just like this!” However, at that moment, a mocking voice came from beneath the smoke of the explosion, startling him.
“This can’t be possible!”
As the smoke cleared, there was Hawking, unharmed and surrounded by a protective aura, holding the spinning knives in his hand, all of their blades shattered.
His prized pumpkin bombs and spinning knives hadn’t managed to inflict even the slightest damage on Hawking.
“Run!”
The Green Goblin immediately turned his glider around to flee without a second thought.
His physical strength was no match, and his high-tech weapons couldn’t even breach the defense. Against such a monster, fleeing was the only option lest he be killed.
“You think you can escape?” Hawking let out a cold laugh and then shouted into the sky, “Nimbus!”
A white cloud flew from the distance, stopping right before Hawking with a whoosh.
Hawking jumped onto the Nimbus cloud and quickly chased after the fleeing Green Goblin.
The Nimbus could travel at 1.5 Mach, or 1837.62 km/h, whereas the Green Goblin’s glider had a maximum speed of only 500 km/h, so Hawking easily kept up.
But he didn’t catch up right away; instead, he stayed just behind the Green Goblin, continuously creating a sense of pressure and fear and forcing him away from the city towards the ocean.
When the two reached the uninhabited ocean, Hawking casually pointed forward.
“Shrink!”
The glider under the Green Goblin’s feet instantly shrank to the size of a palm, and the Green Goblin, caught off-guard, fell from the sky.
Grabbing the shrunken glider, Hawking, on his Nimbus cloud, scooped up the Green Goblin from the sea and quickly gained altitude.
“Spirit Bomb!”
Holding the Green Goblin in one hand, Hawking raised the other hand, gathering a basketball-sized orb of energy, and threw it down into the ocean.
“Boom!”
A massive explosion erupted in the sea, leaving the Green Goblin completely dumbfounded.
Stunned for a full minute, he finally trembled as he removed his mask, looking at Hawking and asking:
“You… you… what do you want with me? Are you going to send me to prison?”
He was well aware by now that Hawking could quickly kill him if he wanted to; he had no means to resist.
Up to this point, it seemed Hawking was merely toying with him.
