Marvel: Randomly Load a Protagonist Template - Chapter 64
….
The Green Goblin never really believed in the so-called mutual benefits of cooperation. Could simply starting a company bring about a win-win situation with Oscorp?
Such things are challenging; otherwise, everyone would be rich.
However, he didn’t mind supporting Hawking’s new venture for his safety; it was just a matter of spending some money.
But if the collaboration were to deepen, he was less willing.
He had two significant lines he would not cross: his dearly built Oscorp and his son, Harry.
If Hawking intended to take over Oscorp using this approach gradually, he was not in favor, but he also didn’t dare refuse outright, so he used the board of directors as a shield.
After all, decisions involving company-to-company collaboration typically require board approval.
“A board meeting? Mr. Osborn, don’t overthink it. I have no ulterior motives, nor am I interested in Oscorp. I’ll share some intelligence with you for free to show my sincerity in our cooperation.”
Hawking, understanding the Green Goblin’s concerns, smiled and continued:
“You might not be aware, but your board members have already secretly formed an allianceanning to remove you as chairman and then sell off your entire Oscorp to SpaceX.”
“That’s impossible, how could they do this? I built that company from scratch; do they know how much I’ve sacrificed? When my wife, Emily, died in the hospital, I missed her final moments because of work at the company. You must be lying!”
Hearing Hawking’s words, the Green Goblin suddenly lost control of his emotions and stood up from the sofa.
“Whether I’m lying or not, you can check for yourself. Given your capabilities, it should be easy to verify.”
Hawking spread his hands while sitting on the sofa.
Before becoming the Green Goblin, Norman Osborn’s intelligence was primarily used in scientific research and invention. Much of Oscar’s significant innovations came from his hands, and he managed many aspects, achieving great success.
Unfortunately, his deep immersion in his research led to his being sidelined by the board members.
It is a classic case of a scientist outplayed by capitalists.
But the awakened evil persona of the Green Goblin finally allowed him to fully utilize his intelligence, making him not only a qualified scientist but also a capitalist and a schemer.
“Fine, if it’s as you say, I will handle them and cooperate well with you.”
The Green Goblin, now calmer, sat back down on the sofa, somewhat believing the intelligence Hawking provided.
Considering Hawking’s capabilities, there was no need for him to lie. Plus, recalling those board members’ recent behavior, something did seem amiss.
“Then here’s to a fruitful cooperation ahead!” Hawking extended his hand.
The Green Goblin hesitated for a moment before also extending his hand.
“To a fruitful cooperation!”
“Right, cooperation aside, I hope if there’s any murder in New York in the next few days, no one sees you wearing that battle suit at the scene. Sometimes… it’s possible to be discreet when doing bad things!”
Lastly, Hawking left a meaningful remark and transformed his clothes into golden armor, stepping onto a flying cloud and leaving the villa.
“It was him all along!”
Seeing Hawking’s signature golden armor, the Green Goblin realized he was the famous Armor Man.
“Looks like this guy… isn’t as righteous as everyone thinks. This might work out; we can collaborate on something big!
Knowing Hawking’s identity, he genuinely became interested in their future collaboration, especially after Hawking’s meaningful remark before leaving.
The subtext was clear: he could eliminate those board members, and Hawking wouldn’t interfere if he didn’t expose his identity.
With such a character, how could he be a true superhero?
“Hope this guy plays it smart.”
On his ride back to the X-Mansion on the cloud, Hawking thought to himself.
If the Green Goblin didn’t play any tricks, then Oscorp, as a partner in the Avengers Corporation, would naturally rise with the tide and could potentially match Hawking Industries.
If the Green Goblin was foolish enough to try anything under these circumstances, he couldn’t blame Hawking for being merciless.
After all, if he wanted to, there were plenty of other companies in New York he could partner with, not just Oscorp.
Halfway through his return, his cloud ride ended, and he switched back to riding a motorcycle.
It was eight o’clock in the evening.
As usual, Hawking left his room to find Wanda Maximoff watching TV in the second-floor common hall. Together, they planned to head to the combat simulation room for training.
“Armor Man is so cool! I want to make armor for myself, too, silver-colored, and zip through the city like lightning to help those in need!” Pietro said admiringly as soon as he reached the living room.
The young mutants were watching the news, which featured videos of him and Peter Parker fighting crime in Hell’s Kitchen over the past few days.
“Good taste,” Hawking thought, nodding in approval at the doorway upon hearing his brother’s admiration.
“Hmph, I think Spider-Man is cooler, ‘biubiubiu,’ he can shoot webs and trap the bad guys,” another mutant student commented, not entirely agreeing.
The others had their preferences, too; some liked Armor Man, some preferred Spider-Man, and some were indifferent to both.
Just as he was about to call out to Wanda, a comment stopped him.
“All this talk of Armor Man and Spider-Man, they’re so old-fashioned. Their costumes are tacky, their names are even tackier, there’s nothing impressive about them!”
The speaker was none other than his beloved sister, Wanda.
“That hurts, my dear sister!” Hawking’s face filled with embarrassment. He thought his costume was quite cool, but it appeared utterly outdated to his sister, which was a little disheartening.
“What did you say, Wanda?” the students asked, clearly unhappy with her criticism of their idols.
Wanda, unfazed, raised her right hand to reveal her red chaos magic: “What, you want to fight about it? Are you going to take turns or all at once?”
Seeing her display of power, everyone immediately shut up. They weren’t a match for Wanda, who could wield various strange magics. They all turned to Pietro.
Pietro just shrugged helplessly. Though he was her older brother by only twelve minutes, he couldn’t control Wanda, especially with Hawking backing her up.
“Hmph, Armor Man, Spider-Man, none of them are even a tenth as handsome as my brother Hawking!” Wanda said proudly, retracting her hand.
Meanwhile, Hawking, who had just turned to take a break from training for the day, smiled again and turned back:
“Wanda, let’s go train!”
True to her nature, my sister.
“Okay, Hawking, I’m coming!”
As soon as Hawking appeared, the previously domineering Wanda instantly transformed into a sweet and obedient little sister, leaving the other students astonished at how quickly a girl can change her demeanor.
