Marvel: Randomly Load a Protagonist Template - Chapter 68
“How’s the research on the gravity chamber going?”
After the interview, Hawking had Peter and Jessica continue their advertising duties while he headed to Osborn Industries to meet with Norman Osborn, the Green Goblin.
Previously, Osborn Industries mainly focused on pulling in government investments to manufacture various weapons, but after partnering with Hawking, it began to transition.
Relying on the popularity of Hawking and the three superheroes, along with various extension projects, they also obtained exclusive rights from the League of Heroes corporation. With multi-faceted development, they earn much more than before, with less risk and technological content, saving substantial R&D funds.
Hawking believed that developing weapons could have been more profitable. Stark Industries dominated the upper echelon, taking most of the business, while others like SpaceX and Hammer Industries scrambled for the leftovers.
They were the only ones working on this project worldwide, with no competitors.
“We’ve made some progress, but with our current technology, we can only achieve 1.5 times gravity, which could be more stable. To improve it, we need more time,” Green Goblin pointed to a vast circular chamber ahead of him.
He didn’t know why Hawking wanted him to research gravity chambers, a technology that seemed to have no practical value for Hawking’s company.
But since Hawking was willing to fund it, and their collaboration had been so pleasant thus far, he naturally wouldn’t refuse.
Now, the scientists at Osborn Industries no longer needed to research missiles and weapons; they were primarily working on this gravity chamber. However, gravity chambers were an unprecedented technology, and even with all the scientists at Osborn Industries working together for six months, they had only managed to create a 1.5 times gravity chamber.
“Keep up the good work!”
Hawking looked at the gravity chamber before him, his eyes sparkling.
Although 1.5 times gravity was useless to him now—nowhere near as effective as Wanda’s chaos magic—he believed that if they could make it work at 1.5 times, they could eventually increase it to five times, ten times, or even a hundred times. And with a gravity chamber, his strength could significantly improve if he was willing to endure.
“Just Green Goblin isn’t enough. Looks like I need to talk to Doctor Strange.”
Green Goblin was a formidable scientist, but he alone was too slow. Hawking had thought about seeking Tony Stark, an expert in machinery.
However, before becoming Iron Man, Tony was challenged to get along with the wealthy, arrogant and dismissive. He would need more money to help with the gravity chamber.
Instead, Doctor Strange, whom Hawking had seen going bankrupt just a couple of days ago, seemed a likely candidate to be persuaded with money to help research the gravity chamber.
Doctor Strange, Reed Richards, was reputed to be the most competent person on Earth, a genius scientist excelling in invention and creation.
Of course, this was only regarding IQ, not other aspects.
For instance, when Wanda entered the 838 universe, he foolishly exposed his teammates’ flaws, destroying the Illuminati.
Moreover, it was said that he often escalated minor incidents into significantly worse outcomes due to his ideas.
Such a person, Hawking, would not be treated like Peter and Jessica.
Like Professor X, Captain Carter, and Captain Marvel, they had their ideas and ideals, less compliant than Peter and Jessica, and they could turn against him over ideological differences.
So, the best approach was to prevent Doctor Strange from gaining his powers, keeping him as a regular person, a scientist buried in his lab, helping Hawking research the gravity chamber daily.
“Even if he has his ideas, Hawking can suppress them anytime.” After checking the progress of the gravity chamber, Hawking immediately rode his motorcycle to the Baxter Building in Manhattan.
The Baxter Building, purchased by Reed Richards, was still under mortgage, only in its fourth installment. It was also the future headquarters of the Illuminati, where Wanda wiped out the Illuminati.
“I say, Reed, do you want to collaborate with Victor? That guy is profit-driven and was quite jealous of your talent in college. Seeking his help might end up with you being humiliated.”
In the office of the building, a muscular bald man advised his friend Reed Richards.
Reed’s face showed resignation:
“I don’t want to find him, but I have no choice. The fourth mortgage installment is due soon, and we’ve hit many walls recently. NASA simply doesn’t believe in my project.
Victor may be arrogant, but he’s not the wrong person. His company happens to have a space station. If he agrees to cooperate, then this project will surely succeed.”
“I’m afraid even if he agrees, he will drive a hard bargain,” said the muscular bald man, shaking his head.
Reed smiled and patted his friend’s shoulder:
“Worst case, I’ll give him 25% of the profits. Besides, we’re not in it for the money. We hope to use this technology to evolve humanity, making future generations healthier and longer-lived.”
“Excuse me, is Dr. Reed Richards here?”
Just then, the office door was knocked on.
Reed hurriedly got up to open the door, and a handsome young man appeared before him.
“Hello, I am Reed Richards. Who are you?
Reed needed to recognize the young man.
Hawking looked at Reed and extended his hand in a friendly gesture:
“Hello, I’m Hawking, the Chairman of the League of Heroes International Company. I have some matters to discuss with you.”
“You’re the Chairman of the League of Heroes International Company?”
Hearing Hawking’s introduction, Reed’s eyes widened.
He knew of the League of Heroes International Company; it had dominated headlines for six months, even pushing the gossip about playboy Tony Stark to second place.
However, the League of Heroes chairman was very mysterious, never appearing in newspapers or on news broadcasts. His appearance and even his name were unknown to the public.
Many speculated that the leader of the Tri-Color Team, Gold Flash, could very well be the chairman of the League of Heroes International Company.
Spider-Man’s costume is red, Gold Flash’s armor is gold, and the Dark Knight’s leather coat is pure black, so sometimes the trio is referred to as the Tri-Color Team.
The sudden appearance of such a young man claiming to be the chairman of the League of Heroes International Company was intricate for Reed to believe; he thought the other party might be joking.
“Maybe you’ll believe me more if I look like this.”
Hawking gestured towards his body, and his iconic golden armor immediately appeared.
